Heard a lot of people moan about this hotel. Our twin room was perfectly ok.. clean and tidy and comfortable. Great view of the Sea. Only issue is a bit tricky to overcome….worst night’s sleep ever.. the hotel is over-run with Seagulls that make a serious racket..24hours a day making it almost impossible to sleep. Maybe bring some earplugs… or a shotgun !!! Also really annoying was the price that all the hotels in Scarborough were charging just because there was a big show in town. They all almost doubled their prices… sheer greed.

The hotel exceeded our expectation for under door voyeurism. I could watch my girlfriend get changed by looking under the hotel room door, from the public hallway. The curtains were mouldy, and wet. Room was large. Bed was comfortable. Was told that the hotel management would look after us on our next visit but I don’t know why we weren’t looked after in the first place. Why would we come again? 🤷🏽♂️

The hotel has a great location, it is behind a city wall just next to the railway station, takes actually less than 5 minutes' walk. And don't believe the Google map because it will lead you to a longest walk. Instead ask the staff for a shorter path. And only 10 minutes walk to the York minister. The staff are nice and friendly. Breakfast is delicious. We spent a lovely day at York.

2519 Great value for money Review of Astor York Pending review I was heading to York for the Christmas market and, knowing that I would spend most of my time out and about, wanted my accommodation to be as inexpensive as possible. A weekend at the Astor York set me back less than £40, and I would say I'm grateful I stayed here for more reasons than just the low price. I hadn't realised that the Christmas market closes quite early, and I found myself back at the hostel earlier than I anticipated. Luckily, there is a common area where you can watch Netflix with the other guests – a nice treat at the end of a cold day. I was admittedly a bit taken aback by the very old-fashioned bathrooms that look straight out of the 1960s. But the hostel was clean and well-maintained. My 30-bed dorm did not feel too crowded, and I was grateful for the cages under beds. My one gripe about the dorm room would be a lack of sockets and lights at beds; it was impossible to charge my phone as I was on the top bunk, so I had to charge it in the common area instead. While I only needed to use the fridge, it looked like the kitchen was well-stocked and spacious. There was also a little bar that did happy hour, though I never made it back early enough to take advantage. The location is a bit of a walk from York's city centre. However, it's quite an easy route, and it's also convenient for accessing the train station. I recommend getting up and out a bit earlier and walking along the ancient wall from Micklegate, which is not far from the hostel. Overall, my stay was great value for money and I'd recommend Astor York to any solo travellers.

This was my first visit to York. The hotel was ideally placed for visiting on foot all the sites as within the city walls. The room was really clean and had a fridge and kettle. It was very quiet and air conditioning on . Comfortable and excellent breakfast. I’d definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Just a little bit far away from city center, it took us around 10 minutes to get there by bus. They offer a wide variety of food and beverages for breakfast, and surprisingly, most of them taste great.

lift was down when we arrived hotel without any headsup. fully understand this might be out of hotel's control but was only given lower floor room upon my request albeit I already mentioned I had a big luggage. staff didn't mention availability of porter service until i asked for it. cups and spoons in room were not clean. no slippers in room & need to be charged at £2/pair which I think could be as goodwill for an out of order lift. on the other hand, location was good and porters were nice.

First of all I need to say that me and my husband often stay in Novotel in different cities and countries and it always was a sinonym of quality for both of us, but in York something went wrong from the very beginning. 1. We have been rejected to add Accor membership account number to our booking once we arrived, even though we booked via Trip.com and it was nowhere to type it while booking 2. Receiptionist asked me about my nationality and when I said that I am Russian,changed her tone of voice and stated that I can speak Russian if I prefer, but she is not going to reply in Russian as it is a principal position, even though it was confirmed she understands it. That was extremely rude and I have never seen anything like that before. Moreover I did never ask this person if I can speak Russian, cause my English is apparently enough to check in to the hotel. 3. We were said we have to book a time slot to have breakfast, but the next day when we arrived to the breakfast room it was almost completely empty. 4. Dirty cups nearby coffee mashine area. 5. Sanitizers left around completely spoiling how breakfast area looks. Overall the hotel looked quite weary. Talking about what went well: charging points by the bed with the usb were handy.

A comfortable room with a decent bathroom Yes it's a bit tired and worn in places but it's a fantastic building, amazing interior in the hotel. A good building, bedding fresh and plenty of towels, I didn't use the restaurant but I had a look in while they were getting breakfast ready and the room looked very old world grandeur My room was quiet and spacious

very good location, near almost all the attractions. a lot of good restaurant nearby

Everything are nice, lovely environment and good service. Highly recommend to everyone to stay.

A really friendly hotel. Surprisingly, every person can get a welcome drink which is very tasty as well. Lots of board games and mini games are placed in the lobby so we can enjoy some fun time if we don’t want to stay in hotel room.

The first issue with the hotel is that the check in time is 4pm which is way past normal checkins which is usually 2-3pm. Although the staff helped my mother to the room, I had asked for the reception to help my mother check in because she does not know English and i had to go do some urgent work, but she completely forgot about it. I know it's not exactly your responsibility but I am sure being such a big hotel there could have been some hospitality or a helper to take her to the room sooner.

Staff were friendly and professional. Room was pleasant and well-equipped, with a good shower and quality shower gel etc. Good to see disposable goods minimised.

Well this place is lovely we arrived to a warm welcome,and were asked what we would like for breakfast and the time we would like to eat . We were given a room on the second floor which although was not huge had everything we needed a nice comfortable bed and a lovely en-suite shower room with lovely fluffy towels excellent tea and coffee making facilities what more could you ask for. The following morning after an excellent nights sleep we went down to breakfast was amazing choice of fresh fruit and yoghurt and fresh juices and an amazing freshly cooked breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble we went out for the day and on our return found our room had been made up and tea coffee and milk were replenished.

Sadly had three rooms due to some issues reguardless how clean they were and a smell coming from the bathroom, third room was ok and had a nice view over looking the sea and Scarborough harbour, pool and spa a nice touch and the staff were all friendly plenty of choice on the menu for food, just needs to address a few issues to make this worthy of it's 4 star rating and that to me should be considered luxury where as this felt more just above average but not luxury 3.5 / 5 location amazing staff amazing let down by the fire alarm going off which steam was to blame air vents were dirty this needs looking at, house keeping need to work more alongside maintenance to ensure issues are addressed. Safe in second room was broken but maintenance did sort this and were very friendly, reception and spa staff all excellent, can't comment on the food but had plenty of choice and had we not made plans we would of considered the curry night the hotel had on. Over all 3.5 / 5

Great location, lovely staff, and the breakfast buffet was marvellous. The lady at the breakfast who looked after us was first class and really made for an enjoyable breakfast, she was a credit to the hotel.

Having stayed before - the location of the hotel is an ideal spot for anyone wanting to stayed central Harrogate - with everything on hand. Breakfast was ok for buffet style however it should be explained to guests where things are and the likes of tea and coffee is self service. Our main issue is the car parking facilities. We have a large vehicle and the entrance and exit are very tight for space. Also there is a form of ducting on the roof of the car park which is not highlighted to warn you so when we opened our boot to put in our cases we damaged our vehicle. As a paid for car park I feel at some point it will seriously need addressing and in future it will make us consider our stay.

The cost of the accomodation didn’t quite match the level of service we would expect. The location is grand and the facilities are really good, as is the breakfast. However, the pool is limited to strange times for families such as during breakfast and dinner, when the middle of the day is would be more suitable. Also someone chased after us when leaving the spa to return the towels, which two children were using, rather than allowing us to leave them in our room for housekeeping to collect. The house keeping took two turns to send shampoo to our room, after a polite call, they sent shower gel instead. In summary, great food and facilities, but it’s bit awkward with children to be there and the service in the spa and housekeeping is lacking.

就是設施太老舊了，能把設施提升一下就更好了，房間比較大，對於我來講位置比較方便，沒空調，有花園，感覺應該重新裝修一下，才對得起這個價格。

位置絕佳，餐廳也很好。所以我們每年展會都住這裏。

A very nice room overall, but can tell the building is really old.

We stayed at the Studley Hotel for two nights and found the hotel to be clean and comfortable. The cleaners we have to say provided a first class service and our room was immaculate when it was made up during our stay. The Orchid restaurant food was delicious and the service very good. We would have given more stars but for the check out experience whereby the receptionist told us she had been advised by the barman that “our friends had left the hotel and said we were to pay a £58.00 bar bill” ; we were absolutely astonished as we hadn’t had any friends staying with us at the hotel. After some discussion she agreed and we didn’t pay “our friends” £58.00 bar bill. However, the receptionist then produced two further bar bills for £19.50 and £10.50 which again was confusing as I always paid the bar bill immediately when I ordered drinks. However; I showed her the deductions on my bank statement account on my phone for the £19.50 but couldn’t find the £10.50 which I then paid her because we had intended to leave £10.00 tip for the room service cleaners who did a fantastic job. Hence the £10.50 we paid for the bar bill we didn’t recognise was this money we had for the cleaners tip. We tipped the Orchid restaurant staff £20 for very good service and we tipped the barman £5.00 which considering the barman’s comments to the reception staff giving us “our friend’s” bar bill we wondered whether we should have tipped the barman. Apart from the financial confusion above we found the hotel very good but a tip on future trips to keep all bar drink receipts. Special mention to the room cleaning staff and the Orchid restaurant staff.
