I checked in around noon on the 6th and stayed in the room all afternoon. About an hour after checking in, I told the floor attendant that the air conditioning wasn't working well. The attendant came in, checked it, and said that's just how central air conditioners are. I kept thinking it was just too hot in Dunhuang for the AC to keep up. When I came back around 9 PM, it was unbearably hot. I complained to another attendant, who felt the air and immediately said there was an issue with the AC in the room and offered to move us. Only in the new room did I realize the original room's AC was completely broken, and their maintenance staff knew about it but failed to communicate it. I'm extremely upset that the first attendant in the afternoon claimed it was a normal temperature when it clearly wasn't cooling. What's more, for this mistake, the hotel only offered a verbal apology with no real compensation. We were left sweltering for half a day, and they just brushed us off, making us out-of-towners believe Dunhuang was just too hot for AC to work properly.

On our self-driving trip through the Hexi Corridor, we arrived in Dunhuang. Choosing a hotel in Dunhuang was incredibly difficult, especially traveling with family and needing three rooms. Luxury hotels were severely overpriced, and since we'd be out exploring all day, spending around 3000 yuan felt like very poor value for money. I looked through all the top-rated hotels and guesthouses in Dunhuang, and every single one had negative reviews. Many of the five-star hotels in Dunhuang seemed quite dated, and even four-star hotels had issues. For example, Zhongzhou had old rooms, Binhe International had difficult parking outside, and the V-Garden had a KTV on the third floor. It was genuinely so hard to choose. Finally, I picked a few hotels with decent reputations and flexible cancellation policies, planning to view the rooms in person before deciding. When we arrived in Dunhuang, the first places we ruled out were the guesthouses; their conditions generally looked quite mediocre. Next, we eliminated Zhongzhou International. From the outside, it looked like it primarily catered to tour groups, was right by the road, surrounded by shops, and appeared a bit dated. We then went to a hotel called Geyue Courtyard. Its location was extremely remote, surrounded by construction sites and repair shops – a huge turn-off immediately. The entrance was also cramped, and entering through a side door, we saw construction debris everywhere. We promptly turned around and left. Next, we went to Binhe International. The service was excellent, and they arranged a room for us, but there was a barbecue restaurant right next to the main entrance, and the rooms were quite small and cramped. We finally decided to check out the Huaxia International Hotel. Initially, I was very worried about the online reviews regarding the hotel's service and its age. However, when we arrived at the hotel lobby, it was noticeably more spacious and brighter compared to the previous hotels we'd seen. In particular, a gentleman at the front desk (I forgot to get his name) was incredibly patient. When I asked to see the rooms, they patiently showed us around, and we eventually selected a room we were happy with. During our stay, all the staff were professional and polite. Dinner at the restaurant, though simple, was of assured quality. Hu Cailian from customer service was also very responsive to all our requests and always greeted us with a smile, making our stay very comfortable. It's also incredibly close to Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring, which is very convenient. You can park your car directly in the spacious parking lot right in front of the hotel. While some room types might be older and some newer, the hotel is clearly working hard and strives to meet everyone's needs. Highly recommended.

The hotel is large and luxurious, with extensive greenery, and located in a very quiet area. It's about a ten-minute drive from the airport, but I didn't hear any planes taking off or landing during my stay, so I slept very well. Although it's nearly ten years old, the overall maintenance is quite good, and the Dunhuang elements are very prominent! I stayed in a 100-square-meter suite in Building 2, which was very spacious. When I booked, I noted that I needed an extra bed in the living room, and I also left a message for the hotel on Ctrip the day of arrival. My flight was delayed, so I didn't get to the hotel until after 11 PM. Check-in was quick, and seeing the extra bed already set up in the living room when I got to the room was a very thoughtful touch. It shows the room was prepared and arranged in advance, which I really appreciate! As for why I gave sanitation and service 4 stars: for sanitation, there was a small clump of hair in the corner of the shower and some dust in the crevices of the bathtub on the day I checked in. For service, there was one staff member I encountered three times during my four-night stay who never smiled. A five-diamond hotel shouldn't have such an attitude, and one individual shouldn't bring down the overall impression of the entire hotel…

On this trip to Dunhuang, I stayed at the Sheraton Hotel. The customer service manager, Anna, was incredibly helpful and attentive. During peak season, hotel rooms were scarce, and I had only booked one night. Anna assisted me in extending my stay at the discounted platform rate. She also helped me book tickets for 'See Dunhuang Again' and even gave me a 30 RMB fruit voucher. I really appreciate Anna's thoughtful and meticulous service. Although the hotel room wasn't huge, it was very cozy and comfortable. You could even see distant views of Mingsha Mountain from the window. My child was particularly pleased as well.

This time I came to Dunhuang to stay at the elegant hotel. The overall experience was very good. The location is quiet, it is very convenient to drive to various attractions, the room is clean and tidy, and it is very comfortable to live. The front desk staff was warm and courteous, greeted in and out, solved the problem in a timely manner, and prepared intimate gifts. The supporting laundry room was very convenient, very friendly to tourists, and the local details were full. The overall service details are in place, the price is online, and I will consider staying next time.

However, as it's an older property, the facilities show some age, particularly the split-unit air conditioning in the rooms, which doesn't quite meet star-rated hotel standards. The lobby was also undergoing renovations during my stay. Thankfully, the AC units seem to be new, clean, and perform well. There was an issue with the TV that required multiple service calls before it worked correctly, indicating that service could be improved in terms of response time and attitude. Still, I appreciate the complimentary room upgrade. Moreover, the lobby service when I checked out was excellent, with staff holding the door open for me until I left – a really thoughtful touch. Overall, it was a good stay.

Dunhuang Hotel, a castle in the desert! The decor is truly grand, with charming camel motifs everywhere. Having breakfast at the Stargazing Pavilion with views of Mingsha Mountain is absolutely stunning, and this experience alone makes the room rate worth it! It's only a 5-minute drive to the scenic area, so the location is superb. The Chinese food is also delicious. The only downside is that the rooms are a bit small; if you're traveling with kids, I'd suggest they consider offering some larger family suites. Overall, highly recommended and a highlight for accommodation in Dunhuang! ✨

Traveling through the Hexi Corridor, I flew directly to Dunhuang and stayed for four nights. This was by far the best hotel of the trip. The front desk upgraded our room to a family suite (with three beds) which was absolutely fantastic! 👍👍👍 The facilities are newly renovated and very modern, and the service was excellent with prompt responses. They also have self-service washing machines and dryers, which is incredibly important for long trips! Even the taxi drivers said this hotel was great. The location is convenient; Shazhou Night Market is less than a 10-minute walk away, and getting a taxi or the airport bus is very easy. I would definitely recommend it to friends~

This hotel is quite unique, it's pet-friendly, has a rich breakfast, and also offers dinner. There's a simple dinner available in the second-floor restaurant before 11 PM. The parking lot in the backyard is also quite large. Although there's a cat room next to the elevator on the first floor, there's no pet odor, probably thanks to good cat litter. The room is spacious, with a foot bath tub and a treadmill.

We are impressed with the hotel. Whatever we write, it will still be not enough, because it is a real jewel in every aspect. The room was luxuriously furnished and extremely cozy. Inside there is everything you need for a perfect and comfortable stay and rest. Even the smallest details, both functional and aesthetic, have been considered. There were snacks and water in the room as a compliment from the hotel. On the 5th floor there is a self-service laundry room and dryer available to guests. The cleanliness is perfect. The breakfast is rich and has both European and Asian offerings. The location is very convenient. There are many restaurants nearby, and the beautiful central part is also within walking distance. We are grateful to the entire staff for the excellent service and kind attitude. Every single person of the team does his job perfectly well. The only thing we regret is that we did not have more time to enjoy this wonderful place. We wish the entire team health and good luck. Always be so kind and keep this high level service.

I booked this hotel online after a friend recommended it. Before arriving, my friend specifically told me about the excellent service and encouraged me to give it a try. P.S. I pre-booked a pick-up at the airport, which happened after 11 PM. The handsome driver, Xiao Zhu, enthusiastically helped me with my luggage and gave me a tour of Dunhuang along the way. The next day, the front desk staff helped me reserve tickets for the Mogao Grottoes and Crescent Lake, and thoughtfully reminded me to wear sunscreen and bring plenty of drinking water. The stay was fantastic 👍🏻 and made me feel very comfortable. My friend's recommendation was truly excellent, haha. Overall, the rooms are decent, though the air conditioning in some rooms isn't very effective. The service was quite good; upon arrival, I received a welcome kit with useful items like a toilet seat cover, sand-proof towel, mosquito repellent bracelet, hand cream, tissues, and wet wipes. Laundry rooms are available on floors 2 to 5, featuring drying areas and ironing facilities. It would be even better if they could increase the number of washing machines to four, as having only one per floor isn't ideal, especially since not every floor has a laundry room. Additionally, the shower stalls are a bit too transparent, and there's no shelf to place personal toiletries or clothes. Despite these points, my overall experience was quite good.

The location is ideal for access to markets, shopping, eateries, and the adjacent bookstore which has a coffee shop and was one of the real treats of the city (we took pictures; it is a top-ten experience in its own right!). We took taxis to the grottos and the dunes, and it was easy to make arrangements. This is a terrific spot for runners/exercise fans, since the walkway along the river —immediately next door — is well suited for both activities. The room was very comfortable and had a mix of disposable towels and regular. The linen was pristine. There was coffee/tea and a hot pot in the room. Our view was of the traffic circle but we didn’t hear traffic except on a couple of occasions. There is a place to leave luggage if you arrive early / leave late. I’m not sure how much English was spoken at the desk but the clerks were very patient with intermediate-to-advanced Mandarin conversations. Would recommend this more than some of the other tourist hotels just for ease of eating!

Waktu terbaik untuk bercuti di Dunhuang ialah dari Mei hingga Jun serta September hingga Oktober, apabila cuaca lebih nyaman untuk meneroka tarikan luar seperti Gunung Mingsha, Mata Air Bulan Sabit dan kawasan gurun. Pada bulan September, suhu biasanya sekitar 11°C hingga 28°C, manakala Oktober lebih sejuk dengan suhu sekitar 3°C hingga 19°C, terutama pada waktu malam. Mei hingga Jun sesuai untuk aktiviti luar kerana cuacanya tidak terlalu panas, manakala September hingga awal Oktober merupakan pilihan yang baik untuk menikmati pemandangan gurun dengan suhu yang lebih selesa. Namun, pelancong disarankan mengelakkan Julai dan Ogos kerana suhu boleh mencecah sekitar 40°C.
