  • At the end of the show, the audience is invited on stage to dance, making it a super fun and immersive experience!!!

You can also try bike-sharing, which is affordable and convenient, allowing you to pick up and drop off bikes as you go.

Best Time to Visit Shanghai – Based on Experience, Weather & Cost

If you're planning a trip to Shanghai, the best times to visit in terms of weather, crowd levels, and cost-effectiveness are:

1️⃣ Mid-to-late March to April (excluding the Qingming Festival holiday)
2️⃣ May, after the Labor Day holiday
3️⃣ Mid-to-late October to November, after the National Day holiday
4️⃣ September, after the summer break when students return to school

Why These Periods?

  • Comfortable weather – Not too hot or too cold, making it pleasant for outdoor activities.
  • Fewer crowds – You won’t have to deal with overwhelming tourist crowds, making sightseeing more enjoyable.
  • Better experience – You’ll have more flexibility to visit attractions without long wait times.
  • Lower costs – Accommodation and transportation prices are more reasonable compared to peak holiday seasons.

Of course, Shanghai is a great destination year-round, as it has a mild climate without extreme cold or heat. Even during peak seasons, as long as you enjoy the trip and find value in the experience, your journey will be meaningful and fulfilling! 🚀✨

Shanghai Travel Tips You Should Know!

What should I pay attention to when traveling to Shanghai for the first time?

The Bund lights up at 7 PM and turns off at 11 PM. If you're short on time, a cruise is a great option.

Stay near Nanjing Road – It's food heaven, and it's super convenient to reach all major attractions.

Avoid taking taxis in Shanghai – Traffic jams and parking are a hassle. The metro is fast, affordable, and covers almost all tourist spots.

Hongqiao Airport is closer to downtown, while Pudong Airport is closer to Disneyland. For high-speed trains, choose Shanghai Railway Station or Hongqiao Railway Station.

Jing’an Temple lights up only on Fridays, Saturdays, and national holidays, starting at 6 PM (but in hot weather, it might light up at 7 PM instead).

Visit Wukang Mansion in the morning for fewer crowds. Afterward, explore Tian’ai Road, Huaihai Middle Road, and Yuyuan Road for a relaxing walk.

For Disneyland, check for "Early Bird" tickets at least 10 days in advance. If you're staying overnight, Xujiahui is a great option—Metro Line 11 takes you directly to the park!

The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, with plenty of delicious restaurants within walking distance. It's also close to People's Square, making it a great choice for sightseeing and entertainment. The room was clean and tidy, and the service was attentive. The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, making it incredibly convenient for shopping, coffee, and city walks. The high-floor views are amazing, especially from the 47th-floor bar and the 45th-floor restaurant – simply unbeatable. I stayed on the 35th floor, which also has a small executive lounge. From its floor-to-ceiling windows, you get a stunning panoramic view of the Huangpu River, the Oriental Pearl Tower, and the city's towering skyscrapers. I had an afternoon high-speed train, and Matt at the front desk was so helpful in arranging a late check-out. I didn't have my room card with me, but he thoughtfully issued a new one with my updated information. All the hotel staff are so people-oriented. My stay was excellent.

This was our second stay here with the kids, and we booked a family room again. It's a great hotel; the room is decorated very warmly, clean, and tidy. The location is excellent, close to Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. The front desk staff, especially the lady who checked us in, was very friendly and helpful. Our room wasn't ready yet, so she arranged for us to wait and even personally delivered our room cards. She was very approachable. The breakfast was plentiful and perfect for a family leisure trip.

Everything was perfect. Upon check-in, the front desk arranged a high-floor room with a garden view for us, which made our first stay at the Garden Hotel exceptionally pleasant. The room was spacious and clean, and the view was fantastic. I called twice for bottled water and extra towels, and both times they were delivered very quickly. It's rare to find a hotel in the city center with free parking. Due to time constraints, we didn't get to use other hotel facilities, including dining, but the cafe on the ground floor looked very inviting.

wonderful stay at Pullman Shanghai Jing An. From the moment we arrived, the experience was smooth and welcoming. A special thanks to Ryan (听雨) at check-in — he was efficient, friendly, and made the whole process incredibly quick. We were checked in within just a few minutes, which was very much appreciated after a long journey. 😊 The room was great as well — comfortable, well-maintained, and made our stay very pleasant. One small suggestion: having an additional mirror at the wardrobe area would be a great touch and even more convenient for guests. Check-out was just as pleasant. Felicia Fang assisted us and handled everything seamlessly. The entire process was quick and effortless, making our departure just as smooth as our arrival. Overall, it was a great stay with excellent service, and we will definitely come back to Pullman in the future. One small note: the bell attendants could perhaps offer a few more smiles — though it might just have been the cold weather getting to everyone! ❄️ Thank you for a lovely stay — we look forward to visiting again. ⭐

A special shout-out to Janet, who provided exceptional service – she was incredibly attentive, warm, thoughtful, and super responsive! The room was comfortable, the bedding clean and soft, and the view was beautiful. For this price, the quality you get is amazing value for money. The hotel’s location is very good. It is about a 5-minute walk to a huge Starbucks, Nanjing West Road, the MRT station, and Wujiang Road, which has several nice bakeries and food options. This made getting around very convenient. There was also a 7-11 just across the road. However, the Premier Two-Bedroom Suite was disappointing for the price paid. The rooms are rather small, especially the master bedroom, where there was not enough space to place or open any luggage. We had to keep our luggage in the living room instead. The bathroom, particularly the shower area, looked very dated. The tiles appeared old and there was a musty smell, which was unpleasant. Another inconvenience was that the light switches were only on one side of the bed, making it very inconvenient to switch off the lights from the other side. The kitchenette was also very small. Cutlery was stored in a drawer above the bin, which was not ideal, and there were no extra plates provided. The tiles looked old with visible cracks, and some of the drawers were faulty. Overall, the room did not feel premium and felt overpriced for what was offered. The hotel rooms clearly need a glow-up to match the Kempinski brand and the rates charged. Additionally, the reception area was undergoing renovation, with no seating or waiting area. The pick-up and drop-off driveway is very narrow, only a small lane. When loading our luggage, we had to do so very quickly as other cars were waiting. The driveway would benefit from being more spacious. While the location is excellent, the room condition, layout, and facilities did not meet expectations for a Premier suite.

Good location, but poor follow-through from the front desk. Stayed 3 nights at Blossom House Shanghai on the Bund. Prior to arrival and again at check-in, we requested side-by-side rooms as our family had two separate bookings and I was traveling with my toddler. The front desk confirmed that the arrangement had been made. However, when my family arrived a few hours later, they were assigned a room several doors away despite speaking to the same staff member. During our stay, we noticed that the rooms next to our respective rooms appeared to remain vacant, which made the situation even more frustrating. The hotel mentioned a room “upgrade”, but the room appeared to be the same Grand Family Room on level 7. In any case, proximity to family was more important than any upgrade. The complimentary laundry room was convenient, but the handling of this simple request and the lack of clear communication from the front desk made the stay disappointing.

The hotel was easy enough to find for a hotel the has a reception on the 4th floor and no signage out front. The location is prime for access to the pedestrian road. Lots of sightseeing and shopping in this area. Short drive to all the key tourist hotspots. Beds were comfortable, staff were great to foreigners like us, breakfast was fine. The only thing of notes was we had no luck using the dryers and resorted to hanging out our clothes in our room. But this is a minor issue and may be operator error. We would stay at the Yitel premium again.

Choosing this hotel was definitely the right decision. Its biggest advantage is the location, being so close to the Bund, which made planning our itinerary incredibly convenient. The gym and laundry facilities on the fourth floor were a great bonus, adding a lot of convenience to our trip, and we used them frequently. The room was quite spacious and very close to the subway station (Jing'an Temple, Exit 12, right next door). The elevator was also fast. To all staff at Metropolo Shanghai Nanjing Road Hotel: Hello! My stay at your hotel truly allowed me to experience the unique charm and sophisticated humanistic care of old Shanghai's 'Ten-Mile Foreign Concession'. From the historically rich architectural design to the convenient and thoughtful transportation services, and from the professional and meticulous front desk reception to the clean and tidy guest room environment, every detail left a deep impression on me. I especially want to thank the housekeeping team for their hard work in creating a bright and comfortable living space for us, and the front desk staff for their patient assistance, which made my trip to Shanghai smoother. Your hotel perfectly blends a century of history with modern services, making it not just an accommodation but also a window into Shanghai's unique 'Haipai' culture. I sincerely express my gratitude to you all and look forward to staying again in the future to relive this uniquely wonderful experience. Metropolo Shanghai Nanjing Road Hotel Experience Report I. Haipai Humanistic Design Rooted in a Century of Heritage The Metropolo Shanghai Nanjing Road Hotel is a significant protected building from modern Shanghai. It was once a gathering place for literary giants such as Ba Jin and Lu Xun, and the founding site of the Chinese Young Journalists Association. The hotel completed its renovation and upgrade in 2017, retaining some antique items from its opening in 1931 while incorporating an Art Deco style with Oriental cultural essence, creating a space that is both vintage and fashionable. The guest rooms are full of thoughtful details: a mosaic depiction of the International Hotel exterior serves as a background wall, hammered glass balances transparency and privacy, and the combination of French charm and Chinese royal-style furniture showcases exquisite taste. Some themed rooms even replicate the furnishings of desks and dressing tables from the Republic of China era, with replica handwritten letters from Lu Xun to Ba Jin hanging on the walls, with the elegance of old Shanghai flowing through every corner. The hotel corridors display 64 old Shanghai photographs, each with detailed textual descriptions, like a tangible urban history book, often inviting guests to stop and read. II. Convenient Transportation in a Prime Location The hotel is located at 200 Shanxinan Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai, adjacent to Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. It's just a 50-meter walk to the subway entrance, a 1-minute walk to Nanjing East Road subway station, and surrounded by multiple subway stations such as Natural History Museum Station and People's Square Station, providing easy access to all corners of the city. The Bund is a 10-minute walk away, and along Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, you can conveniently reach dining landmarks like Yuxingji (People's Square branch), making it easy to enjoy both sightseeing and delicious food. For self-driving guests, the hotel offers free parking and valet services, allowing vehicles to drive directly to the hotel entrance, eliminating the need to carry heavy luggage. It also provides airport transfers, tour arrangements, and ticket booking services to comprehensively meet travel needs. III. Professional and Thoughtful Service Experience (I) Front Desk Reception The hotel front desk staff are highly professional, providing detailed answers from check-in procedures to itinerary inquiries. They consistently give accurate and warm responses to guests' questions about the hotel's history and surrounding attractions, allowing guests to experience the attentive service of old Shanghai from the moment they arrive. (II) Housekeeping The guest rooms and public areas are always kept clean and bright. Bedding, towels, and other linens are free of foreign objects or discoloration, and the shower area has ample water pressure and is spotlessly clean. Housekeeping staff are meticulous, promptly cleaning room waste and replenishing daily necessities, creating a comfortable and tidy living environment for guests. (III) Hardware and Supporting Facilities The hotel elevators operate smoothly, and the retro floor indicator on the first floor is clear and unambiguous, making it easy to find your way even for first-time guests. The soundproofing in the guest rooms is excellent; even though it's near the bustling Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, outside noise is effectively blocked. Combined with slow-rebound zero-pressure memory pillows, guests are provided with a high-quality sleep experience.

Huge thanks to the hotel for arranging my preferred room – it was actually the exact same one I stayed in last Chinese New Year! What a lucky number, 1818. The front desk staff was so attentive and patient. And Xiaoqian, the attendant on the 18th floor, remembered all my habits from last year! She made sure the room was spotless and beautifully arranged every day, making it truly feel like home. The lion dance on the first day of the New Year was a real highlight. Even though the breakfast restaurant was crowded during the CNY period, the service was much faster than last year. This is, as always, my absolute favorite hotel. See you next time! ^_^

Five out of five stars! A trip to the quarry, healed by beautiful scenery and heartwarming service ✨ I made a special trip on Saturday to check out the InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland, and the entire experience exceeded my expectations, perfectly embodying high-end luxury and thoughtful consideration. Upon checking in, I immediately experienced the hotel's photography service. The photographer was incredibly professional, excellent at finding angles, understanding lighting and composition, and patiently guided my poses and movements. He captured stunning, atmospheric shots, effortlessly freezing the unique beauty of the quarry and wonderful moments – it was such a pleasant surprise~ I must particularly commend our exclusive butler, Alisa! She was enthusiastic and meticulous throughout our stay. She proactively addressed our needs before and after check-in, meticulously handled itinerary planning and detailed arrangements. She efficiently resolved all sorts of minor issues immediately, responding promptly and handling everything thoughtfully. She was gentle and reliable, making the entire journey worry-free and comfortable, and we felt incredibly warm🥰 The hotel itself certainly lives up to its name as a ”world architectural wonder” 🏨. The 88-meter-deep quarry landscape is truly breathtaking, the water curtain in the lobby is vibrant and beautiful, and the cliffside scenery is grand and unique. The guest room facilities are high-end and complete, clean and elegant, with floor-to-ceiling windows directly facing the stunning views. The public areas are fully equipped, and every detail exudes quality. It was an immersive experience of the romance of humanity and nature intertwined~

The hotel's location is quite good, just a few minutes' walk from University Road Commercial Street and not far from Wanda Plaza. There are plenty of diverse restaurants nearby, offering a rich variety of choices. The hotel lobby is open-plan and though not large, it has a stylish design. The rooms are spacious and also show a designer's thoughtful touches; the air conditioning provides ample warm air. The hygiene is also good. The breakfast selection is quite rich for an economy hotel, ensuring you can eat well and heartily. The highlight is the service, which is warm and attentive, and they even gifted us breakfast. I stumbled upon this hotel by chance, and it offered little surprises in every aspect. It's excellent, and I'll definitely choose it again next time. A small suggestion: perhaps the indoor lighting could be a bit brighter. Also, the bathroom uses a lot of glass partitions; the warning stickers could be made clearer.

Extremely clean and tidy, with fantastic value for money! The room was spotless and odor-free, the bedding was soft and super comfortable, and the bathroom's wet/dry separation was a thoughtful touch. The front desk service was warm and attentive, making check-in and check-out incredibly fast. The surrounding area has convenient transportation, making it easy to find food and go shopping. The overall experience exceeded my expectations; I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm here. Highly recommended!

The receptionist was nice and upgraded my room based on my request. I arrived quite late but found the room to be quite hot at 27 deg C even though I adjusted the air condition to 18.5. Later it was found that the room is at the far end so there is no way to lower the temperature. So I must change room at almost 2am after I have settle all my things at the previous one. The worst part is that I must wake up at 6am the next day so not much sleep that night. I think the hotel is running old and need upgrading to maintain the brand image. Overall the experience is not too bad.

I stayed here for one night. I came here after leaving another hotel that wasn't good. I'm so glad that I came here instead. I really got such a good night's sleep. One of the hotel staff, Ekko, was extra helpful in answering my questions in English, allowing me to stay longer in the lobby while I waited for my friend and even offered me a bottle of water. He was very welcoming! The the bed is so comfortable and soft and the hotel is very clean. And the breakfast is also delicious. You also have a vending machine on the first floor that takes digital payment and a mini refrigerator in your room. There's also a smart TV with HDMI and screen mirroring. It's great value for money and it's also just a really comfortable place to stay. The interior design is really beautiful and eclectic. I think you'll have fun just hanging out in the lobby, good music playing, for a couple hours doing some work at one of the many sitting areas in the lobby, if you're a digital nomad like me. Really nice vibe!

The room facilities are complete and well-equipped, with a refrigerator, washing machine, and microwave all available, which is very convenient for long business trips. The front desk staff are warm and friendly, and the housekeeping staff clean very promptly and meticulously, always accommodating requests.

The hotel is pretty good, and the location is excellent. It's quite convenient to get anywhere. My relatives felt that most of the guests were elderly, and the staff took great care of them. They tried their best to accommodate all requests, so kudos to the staff! The only minor downsides are that the room size is a bit small and there's no breakfast, which isn't very convenient.

The location of the hotel is very good, next to the Sam Hotel, but it is very quiet. The whole hotel is a building, surrounded by a small river and opposite a park. It is very quiet, the environment is very good, the hygiene is very clean, and there is a fragrance as soon as you enter the door. The hotel service is great, the receptionist Xiao Liu is very enthusiastic, the facilities are complete, the underground parking lot is large, the breakfast is a Chinese and Western buffet, there are also full meals at noon and in the evening, and there is a barbecue next to it in the evening.
