You’ll find plenty of people capturing memories here—haha! 📸Come take stunning pictures and share them on Instagram. There are many cafes and unique shops nearby, though the prices are on the higher side.

2. Take a Huangpu River night cruise, experience Shanghai’s history and dazzling skyline on its wide waters. As I sat on the boat, a song came to mind: Night Shanghai~ Night Shanghai~you are a city that never sleeps…🤩

3. My top pick for a must-visit museum! 👍Visit the Shanghai Museum, you can explore Shanghai’s development history and even take part in some interesting activities.

5. Visit the Shanghai Wild Animal Park and enjoy a joyful time with adorable animals. There are lots of animals here, making it a perfect place to bring kids for a fun time!

6. Explore the Shanghai Botanical Garden, admire the blooming flowers, and embrace the romantic vibes of spring.

7. Indulge in local delicacies at Chenghuang Temple Food Street, and experience the charm of Shanghai’s nightlife. Here’s a little tips👀: the snacks at the beginning of the alley are more expensive, but the farther you go, the cheaper they get!🥰

8. Shop at Nanjing East Road Pedestrian Street. This is known as a shopping paradise. Walking down Nanjing Road, I really get that feeling of the city lights just coming on. There’s so much delicious food and fun to be had, I feel like my wallet might go bankrupt!🤣

In addition to these classic tourist spots, let me share a few special activities with you:

1. "Sleep No More" – An Immersive Theater Experience

  • A 3-hour interactive performance with no dialogue, relying solely on actors' body language and dramatic intensity.

2. Candor – A Vintage-Themed Immersive Show & Party

  • A 2-hour show divided into 3-4 segments, each lasting around 20 minutes, followed by a 20-minute break before the next act.
  • The Babylon-themed performance I attended featured six performers, with lots of audience interaction.
  • At the end of the show, the audience is invited on stage to dance, making it a super fun and immersive experience!!!

Transportation in Shanghai

Airports

  • Hongqiao Airport (SHA): Closer to the city, convenient transportation. You can take Metro Line 2/10, or airport buses to downtown.
  • Pudong International Airport (PVG): Farther from the city but closer to Disneyland. Accessible by Metro Line 2, Maglev Train, or airport buses.

🚄 Train Stations

  • Shanghai Railway Station: Metro Lines 1, 3, 4, and buses to the city.

🚆Transportation in the city

Transportation in Shanghai is very convenient. Honestly, there's no need to take a taxi— the metro is more than enough! Multiple lines connect the main areas and popular attractions. Buses and taxis are also easily available, providing convenient travel options. You can also try bike-sharing, which is affordable and convenient, allowing you to pick up and drop off bikes as you go.

Best Time to Visit Shanghai – Based on Experience, Weather & Cost

If you're planning a trip to Shanghai, the best times to visit in terms of weather, crowd levels, and cost-effectiveness are:

1️⃣ Mid-to-late March to April (excluding the Qingming Festival holiday)
2️⃣ May, after the Labor Day holiday
3️⃣ Mid-to-late October to November, after the National Day holiday
4️⃣ September, after the summer break when students return to school

Why These Periods?

  • Comfortable weather – Not too hot or too cold, making it pleasant for outdoor activities.
  • Fewer crowds – You won’t have to deal with overwhelming tourist crowds, making sightseeing more enjoyable.
  • Better experience – You’ll have more flexibility to visit attractions without long wait times.
  • Lower costs – Accommodation and transportation prices are more reasonable compared to peak holiday seasons.

Of course, Shanghai is a great destination year-round, as it has a mild climate without extreme cold or heat. Even during peak seasons, as long as you enjoy the trip and find value in the experience, your journey will be meaningful and fulfilling! 🚀✨

The texture is chewy, and every bite is bursting with seafood flavor. Their drunken crab and sticky rice desserts are also highly recommended. Plus, you can enjoy the beautiful Bund view while dining!

👍 Bund Family Feast : Authentic Shanghai cuisine! Every dish is so good that you'll finish everything on your plate. The restaurant offers an amazing view facing the Oriental Pearl Tower. Super worth it for the price!

👍 Xian De Lai Pork Ribs & Rice Cakes: Crispy deep-fried pork ribs paired with chewy rice cakes, all coated in a slightly spicy, sweet-savory sauce—absolutely delicious!

Shanghai Travel Tips You Should Know!

What should I pay attention to when traveling to Shanghai for the first time?

The Bund lights up at 7 PM and turns off at 11 PM. If you're short on time, a cruise is a great option.

Stay near Nanjing Road – It's food heaven, and it's super convenient to reach all major attractions.

Avoid taking taxis in Shanghai – Traffic jams and parking are a hassle. The metro is fast, affordable, and covers almost all tourist spots.

Hongqiao Airport is closer to downtown, while Pudong Airport is closer to Disneyland. For high-speed trains, choose Shanghai Railway Station or Hongqiao Railway Station.

Jing’an Temple lights up only on Fridays, Saturdays, and national holidays, starting at 6 PM (but in hot weather, it might light up at 7 PM instead).

Visit Wukang Mansion in the morning for fewer crowds. Afterward, explore Tian’ai Road, Huaihai Middle Road, and Yuyuan Road for a relaxing walk.

For Disneyland, check for "Early Bird" tickets at least 10 days in advance. If you're staying overnight, Xujiahui is a great option—Metro Line 11 takes you directly to the park!

Located in a prime downtown spot, it's convenient for getting anywhere. Downstairs is very lively with restaurants, a food street, and a shopping complex all in one. During weekdays in summer, there were many foreign guests... and quite a few elderly Chinese too. The front desk often had queues for check-in, and there were always people waiting for taxis outside. Business was really good, yet the room offered excellent value for money! Thanks for the free upgrade to a deluxe suite~ It was newly renovated. I was on a business trip and decided to bring my mom along so she could relax and enjoy herself. **Facilities** They offer a table tennis room, a swimming pool, and a gym. No robots for food delivery pick-up though. **Hygiene** Clean. **Environment** The overall environment is good. The old five-star hotel is very well maintained; it doesn't feel old or dated. The room was newly renovated, but the sense of space wasn't huge, and the bathroom was a bit small. **Service** The service attitude was excellent and professional.

This time we were on a family trip, but I feel the hotel is more suited for business travelers. **Facilities:** It's a five-star hotel, decent, not super new but not old either. Breakfast had a good variety. **Hygiene:** Also decent, quite clean. **Environment:** There's a constant fragrance throughout the hotel that I wasn't too fond of, but overall it was okay. It's quite close to Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and the Bund, which is great for an evening stroll. **Service:** I had originally requested a late check-out until 2 PM upon arrival, but the front desk seemed to have forgotten about it. However, a staff member called to confirm, and I re-explained, so the late check-out was granted.

Traveling with my child for the weekend, I booked the Marriott Hotel in advance through Ctrip. The hotel's location is superb, just a few minutes' walk from Nanjing Road. The facilities are complete, and the room was clean and comfortable. Even though we had an unexpected encounter with a 'white dolphin' (a metaphor for a minor inconvenience or surprise), it didn't affect our mood at all. Gazing at the Oriental Pearl Tower through the rain-streaked window from our room was also a unique experience. The hotel even provided complimentary welcome fruits, small gifts, and other extra surprises, which was incredibly thoughtful. Honestly, most hotel hardware is pretty much on par these days; it's the little details in service that truly leave a lasting impression. All in all, it was a very satisfying stay.

Service: Before checking in, I read many reviews complaining about the check-in staff. I definitely experienced it myself. All the staff avoided eye contact; it was hard to find someone to help with check-in, and everyone seemed busy. There was a young man near the elevator entrance who suggested not standing there. He would just lower his head and walk away when he saw guests; I don't know what purpose it served to have someone standing there. The bellhop at the luggage storage was enthusiastic, but I suggest increasing the refrigerated storage space and training staff. They shouldn't advise guests to carry their refrigerated items with them when checking out, especially on such hot days; it's better to leave them in the air-conditioned hotel. The staff at the entrance who helped with luggage and opened car doors were polite, and their service was appreciated. Some of the hosts at the breakfast restaurant were very warm and friendly. Others were not, and some were only friendly towards Japanese guests. The chefs at the cooking stations were all excellent, and the food was delicious. Facilities: Older hotels always have shortcomings in their hardware. As soon as I exited the elevator on the guest floor, I smelled dust, and there was a musty smell in the room. The shower equipment was old and difficult to use, the washbasin was quite low, and the small magnifying mirror for makeup/removing makeup was broken; either you had to hold it up very high to see your face, or it would fall down and still not work. This can't be changed in the short term, so it needs renovation. During renovations, I suggest not installing mirrors facing the bed again. I slept very poorly at night. Cleanliness: The cleanliness was much better than I expected. There was no dust in the nooks and crannies, which was a pleasant surprise. Noise: The room was very close to the elevator, but surprisingly, there was not much noise, which was acceptable. However, there was a regular rumbling sound, which I suspect was the subway passing by; it was very noticeable. The sound disappeared after the subway stopped at night and reappeared in the morning. Overall, it was not a very pleasant experience, but I've tried it. I won't choose this hotel again.

I highly recommend the Pullman Shanghai Jing An. My stay in the Deluxe King Room was perfect, deserving a full five-star rating. The hotel is located in the heart of Jing An, within walking distance of the metro station, making it incredibly convenient to get to major commercial areas. The room was spacious and elegant, the bed soft and comfortable, and the entire room was spotlessly clean with excellent soundproofing. The front desk service was attentive and efficient, housekeeping was meticulous and thorough, and the breakfast offered a rich variety of delicious options. The overall ambiance is light luxury and grand, making it perfectly suited for business or leisure travelers. I will definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Shanghai.

I was very satisfied with my stay during my business trip. The hotel was quiet with good soundproofing, and the internet was stable, so working was stress-free. Staff members Lily, Diana, and Quain G proactively provided guidance throughout my stay. The lobby was well-managed and orderly, with no queue-jumping or chaos. The guest rooms were neat and clean, and the toiletries were complete. The surrounding transportation was convenient, making it a great value for business travel.

I booked a hotel in Jing'an District for my business trip and really got a feel for the 'Magic City'. **Environment:** It's right next to Taikoo Hui, with the world's largest Starbucks and the LV 'Big Boat' store, plus tons of restaurants – super convenient. If you walk right out of the hotel, you'll find the Natural History Museum with a big lawn, perfect for an evening stroll and enjoying the cool air. **Room:** I was surprised to find such a spacious room, especially being a suite, in the city center. It even had an induction cooktop and a washer-dryer combo, and all the kitchenware! Much more comprehensive facilities than a typical hotel. **Hygiene:** The room was very clean, and the bed was really comfortable. **Breakfast:** Very refined, a mix of Chinese and Western options, felt like an executive lounge. **Service:** The front office staff were excellent. The lobby isn't huge, but there were guests from all over the world, probably all here to visit Shanghai. Great for business travel, I'll definitely come back next time.

We have booked more nights initially, but our plan was disrupted by the typhoon unfortunately. Kudos to hotel to be willing to accommodate to our booking twice. We were given a very nice , spacious junior suite with lounge access. Lounge evening canapés had good selection of food and ice cream. Breakfast was very good and the bund centre building is very iconic. It was also an easy straight-line walking distance to the bund. Junior suites, however, do not have bund views. Therefore, travelers looking for a view of the bund might need to book a different room type

The hotel is well-located, right in the middle of the pedestrian street. We stayed in a standard room, but after our flight was canceled due to a typhoon, we extended our stay for another day and were moved to an upgraded room. The room was fantastic, we were probably lucky. It had two rooms: a living room with a sofa and a magnificent view of the pedestrian street. Besides a tea set, there was also a coffee machine. There was also a large, separate bathroom. It's an ideal option for a family with a child. The breakfasts are very good, with options for both children and adults. The only thing I didn't notice was an omelet station; there were fried eggs and scrambled eggs instead. But you won't go hungry; a delicious and hearty breakfast is guaranteed.

This is Shanghai's oldest foreign-related five-star hotel. Since it was taken over by Jinjiang and rebranded as Kunlun, the service has seen a slight difference, though overall it still meets five-star standards. The staff are proactive in greeting guests. The main issues lie with the afternoon tea and happy hour. For afternoon tea, the Puerh tea was already dry. As for the happy hour noodles, I'm not sure what the chef was thinking – they were cooked, then cooked again, left to sit, and then cooked one more time when ordered. Do they think all guests are grandmas? **Facilities:** My room was upgraded for free, and it was very spacious. The only drawback is that you have to step into the bathtub to use the shower, which isn't ideal, but it's understandable given the hotel's 90s foundational layout. **Hygiene:** The hygiene was excellent. My only minor complaint was the insufficient hand soap.

What really touched me was when a staff member proactively contacted me after discovering I had left my brand-name hairpin behind after checking out. This truly showcased the high quality of the hotel's staff, and I have to give them a big thumbs up! 👍 The hotel's location is excellent, just a 5-minute walk from Metro Line 2, making it my top choice for getting around. The balcony view was amazing; no need to jostle for space at a crowded viewing platform. I just sat comfortably and watched the entire cliffside light show. It was wonderful to escape everyday worries and unwind for a night in this unique 'underground' hotel, 88 meters below ground level. The architectural marvel itself was incredibly impressive, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations – definitely worth a special trip for an overnight stay. The hotel's location is excellent, and cleanliness wasn't an issue. However, the facilities had some significant drawbacks. The bathroom door was very problematic; the toilet and shower shared the same glass door, which was extremely difficult to slide and very inconvenient (as shown in the picture). There were too few power outlets, making charging devices a hassle. The light switches weren't clearly marked, and the night light shone directly into your eyes. Regarding service, the younger male front desk staff member was rude and unprofessional. When I checked in, I wasn't the only guest, and he was impatient and impolite with everyone, not using any basic pleasantries. He also didn't inform me about any of the hotel's facilities; I had to find the laundry room myself later. At one point, a hotel call came in to the female staff member opposite him. She wasn't sure about the situation, hung up, and then asked the male staff member, who directly mocked the guest who had called for inquiries – that was completely out of line. He also made a point of pretending to be busy with other things (even though guests could see his screen and he clearly wasn't busy) before grudgingly responding to guest requests. Although the hotel's physical amenities aren't a major issue, I will not be staying here again due to the service attitude. Being next to a university, I'm sure they won't miss one guest.

The location is unbeatable. It's super convenient – just take the escalator up to the second floor from the Purple Vine Road metro station exit towards MixC, and you'll see the hotel. It would be even better if there was a convenience store nearby. The hotel environment is also excellent, with large floor-to-ceiling windows that provide amazing natural light in the morning. The room itself is very tidy. The only downside is that the hallway decor is a bit peculiar, especially the wallpaper – it actually startled me the first time I stayed here. Overall, it's great value for money, and I'll likely stay here again next year when I come to Shanghai.

I've found a real gem in this modern tower. The hotel occupies floors 15 to 18, and the reception is a 10/10 – the staff are super friendly, they offer coffee, tea, and little pastries, and there's also a very comfortable coworking area. The rooms are like a small studio with a kitchenette: microwave, washing machine, dryer, a full-size fridge, and plenty of closet space. The bed and pillows are extremely comfortable, and the shower… wow! The water pressure is amazing, absolutely wonderful. The door is floor-to-ceiling, so steam from long showers doesn't escape into the rest of the room. The sink area is a bit small, but it's fine for one or two people. Special mention: the magnifying mirror and the Japanese toilet – a real luxury that I really appreciated. We were so comfortable that we ended up extending our stay by 3 more days. The only downside: the metro is about 1 km away, maybe a bit more. But the value for money is so good that what you save on the hotel easily covers a taxi ride. From now on, this will be my go-to place in Shanghai. Highly recommended. I'll definitely be back.

The room was clean and modern, and the balcony offered a great view. The front desk staff proactively upgraded me to an executive room, which got plenty of sunlight. The service was excellent, and the location near the Songjiang attractions was very convenient thanks to the PATA house.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) I stayed at Moyu Movie Hotel Shanghai for 7 nights, and I had an excellent experience. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. They even accepted my Taobao packages, which made my stay much more convenient. The housekeeping service was outstanding. My room was cleaned every day without me having to request it. The room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. I especially loved the modern automatic toilet, and the shampoo and body wash smelled wonderful. Another great feature was the free self-service laundry, and they even provided free laundry detergent, which was a huge bonus for a longer stay. The location is also very convenient. The hotel is close to the MRT station, making it easy to get around Shanghai. It is also only about a 15-minute walk to the LV The Place (LV Ship), which is a great spot to visit. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with my stay. Everything exceeded my expectations, and I would definitely choose Moyu Movie Hotel Shanghai again when I visit Shanghai. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and conveniently located place to stay.
