I was very disappointed with our stay at this hotel. Unfortunately, we encountered a few not very friendly staff at the reception. They didn’t do anything in particular that we would consider rude - but they just had a cold attitude. Some of their staff seem to have treated other guests a little differently for instance walking them to the lift and giving them more information about the hotel. This really impacted our experience at the hotel. However, I must say many of their staff were amazing, just a handful that were very cold and dismissive and this is not the level of hospitality you would expect from such a renowned hotel.
The room also looked and felt quite different than what is shown on trip.com and their official website.

We stayed at a double room in the Sofitel in Lyon for a total of 3 nights in the summer of 2023.
The hotel is located just a few streets from the Place Bellecour which is one of the main squares in Lyon. It is also about 5 minutes away from many cafes, bistros and a large supermarket (Monop’) near Place Bellecour.
The room itself was a fairly standard double room (approximately 20 square metres). The interior and furnishings of the hotel look a bit dated but they were fine and did not matter in any material way. The minibar is complimentary and it is restocked daily with bottled water (still and sparkling), fruit juice, coca cola, and dried fruits and nuts.
The bed was nice and comfortable and the pillows were firm. Our only complaint was that the air conditioning was not very consistent and it would turn off in the middle of the night. It is not an issue if you are staying here in the winter but it made it difficult to sleep at night in the summer.
The staff were all very nice and pleasant. The concierge was especially friendly and he helped us to store our bags and arrange for a taxi to the train station on our last day.

If we point out the friendliness and passiveness of the cleaning staff, such as blood stains around the SDB switch, it can be cleaned within an hour, for example. The location is good in the sense that it is close to the tram station. Unfortunately, there were a few homeless tents set up directly under the bridge between the tram station and the hotel, and we had to walk past them to get to the hotel. That part felt a bit unsafe. However, aside from the homeless tents located directly under the bridge, the surrounding area was very clean, and we didn’t see any graffiti at all. The bridge area was really the only part that felt uncomfortable. When we arrived around 1:00 PM, no one was at the front desk. There was a sign saying the staff member was in the breakfast area, but there was no indication of where that was. A phone number was provided, but no one answered when we called. We understood that check-in wasn’t until later, but we simply wanted to leave our luggage so we could start exploring the city. After waiting about 20 minutes, a staff member finally arrived and informed us that our room would not be ready until 5:00 PM, even though the stated check-in time is 3:00 PM. We came back around 6:00 PM to check in, and the ladies assisting us were really nice and welcoming, which helped improve the overall experience. We rented this place with another family, and they were able to place us on the same floor next to each other, which was super awesome and very much appreciated. Once we were checked in, we did like the hotel. We requested that the sofa be converted into a bed for our girls, and this was done promptly, which we really appreciated. We stayed for only two nights, and there was no housekeeping service during our stay. It’s unclear whether housekeeping would be provided for longer stays. We were expected to take out our own trash and keep the kitchen area clean. While I understand washing dishes and cleaning up after ourselves, having to dispose of trash ourselves was inconvenient and should have been clearly communicated on the website. It was also odd that guests are expected to clean, yet dish soap and sponges are not provided unless you specifically ask for them. Overall, I wouldn’t consider this an aparthotel, as it lacks many services typically provided by a hotel. It feels more like a furnished apartment rather than a hotel-style accommodation. That said, we paid less than $100 USD per night during New Year’s Eve, which is excellent pricing. I would stay here again for the price and the level of service provided, but it would be helpful if the self-service expectations and the surrounding walking conditions were clearly communicated beforehand—for guests who may be willing to pay more for less work or for those who are not comfortable walking past the homeless area.DariHK$585

This hôtel is over rated. The reception area is minuscule, the overall layout is complicated with multiple small corridors and more doors than I have ever seen! The cleanliness was ok but it was very dated in the room. I had to cover The bedside table with a towel iPad the wood was chipped. The cushions also do not seem to be changed between customers. The shower was ok but not amazing as the water temperature kept changing on its own (most likely when someone in another room was using hit water). The soap dispenser in the shower contained a good quality soap, but it was almost empty so I couldn’t use it on day 2. I wouldn’t stay there again.

It's next to the station, so it's very accessible.
Four people shared one bed and one sofa bed. The room wasn't very spacious for the price, so if you use the sofa bed, there's no desk, so you have to eat takeout meals on the bed. But that didn't bother me.
There was a kettle and cups. But no tissues or slippers.
You can make coffee or tea on the first floor at any time, but when I tried to use it around 9pm, the coffee maker was turned off, and only water came out when I turned it on. I gave up and tried to make tea using hot water from the kettle, but it was water after all. There was a staff member at the front desk right in front of me, but he was chatting and didn't seem to mind.
But the breakfast was better than the same Ibis Styles in CDG, and there was a wide variety. The staff also took good care of me.
