As a very experienced traveler with about a 100 hotel nights/year I usually let my destination hotels know my room preferences - not cadging for an upgrade but simply making my wishes for room location, floor and view direction clear. I always do that initially during the reservation process and to be on the safer side I send 1 or 2 emails to them ahead (front desk and/or reservations). When arriving at the hotel after a long journey you are, of course, at the mercy of the hotel. And here it promptly came: the rooms on my preferred floor and with my preferred direction were ”all occupied”. The explanation that despite my reservation request and more 2 reminders by email they had not acceded to my preferences was that they had a different ”policy” (so to say a sequence) in allocation of rooms regardless of the guests' advance requests... Strange. Being at the front desk at their mercy teeth grindingly I had to take another room not really serving my clear preferences. But after that uselessly disappointing arrival experience I must concede that - except for this ridiculous room allocation ”policy” - the room was perfectly appointed, the staff exceedingly helpful, attentive, pleasant plus speaking numerous languages, the breakfast was well assorted and apart from that strange ”policy” the stay was altogether very pleasant. So if you have strong room preferences (and again: no upgrades cadging meant) you will most like flounder on their ”policy”, which they sadly only reveal to you upon your arrival, but if you don't mind they are a very good choice.

I'm not writing my review out of anger. I stayed there a few days ago for one night, so I had plenty of time to reflect and calm down. Starting with the positives: location is very good, close to town center, has a spacious car park and there is a grocery store and a small bar nearby. (You'll need both) Staff is also friendly. And now the drawbacks: it is mu understanding that rooms on the 4th floor has undergone some renovation, but sadly, my room on the second floor hasn't. The bathroom was *somewhat* clean (except from the long dark hairs in the sink), but still shabby (wonky showerhead, sink plug stuck). The room itself had stained carpets, a broken chair, no fridge, no sockets, only a dirty extender under the desk. Bed linen reasonably clean, only the upholstery on the bed was stained and torn so I was wondering what the mattress must have been like hygene-wise. As to comfort: it was the kind of soft mattress that would swallow you whole when you sit on it. Fun fact: I'm 5'10 and I couldn't reach the nightlight switch from the bed. :D Blanket was very thin and the room was cold. No kettle for tea or coffee, not even a vending machine in the entire hotel, and as for the catering department: I'm sorry guys but the dinner was just inedible. Ice cold, green water for soup, which could have been made of broccoli or haribo bears, I couldn't tell by tasting it since it didn't have one. This was followed by a tiny piece of beef with chips - also cold. No sauces were offered, but at least we got a small bowl of shredded cabbage without any seasoning, but least that has nutritional value. Dessert was some sort of cake - I couldn't tell what because again, no taste. (To be fair, one person at my table liked it) We tried to order some wine or beer and the waiter informed us that our trip organiser only paid for the food and some water. We said fair enough, bring us something and we'll pay, that's no problem. But then the waiter also informed us that they are not prepared to accomodate such extraordinary requests so there are nothing on the premises other that the water. Not even a bottle of coke. (Mind you, I was travelling with a group of 50 people, and there was also another large party in the hotel so I don't think it would have been a big loss to keep the bar open for an hour or two after dinner and maybe stock a case of beer) Breakfast was so-so, decent even: the usual with fried eggs and sausages - but then again, everything was very cold but at least much tastier than dinner. So overall not a very pleasant experience: there is a lot to improve when it comes to services and hygene. If the refurbishment continues, then perhaps it will be a 3 star place, I would only give it one at the moment.

Im just writing my comments with my 7 years hotel running experience... First of all hotel is in a great location just few meters to bas carsıja and few buildings to the pedestrian streed of ferhadija (from the hotel door right side) On the opposite side of ferhadija (from the hotel door left side) the street also there is some pubs and bars and you can easyly go where Latin bridge is Building besides all sarajevos smoking free places is a non smoking wich is got a nice smokers back yard area Breakfast is also nice and you have lots of good options for all kind of preferences Rooms on the period wich we stayed was over heated ( cause they sad its areal heating from the center) Sheets and pillow cases were clean bathroom was also clean and new Matress was a bit too soft Floor carpets need to renew (ıt is understandable to have carpet for a winter city normally i would not prefer) Wish the shower was fully close frame with that way flours will not get wet also to food towell(floor mat) At the reception during the morning time mr Kenan welcomes you and he s a nice informative person I should thank him specially to put us first in a row for room cleaning to make us early than the check in time!!! (we were a 4 person family with a 6 years old child) Mr Mirza also was fine to arrange us a car to Mostar (you can check the prices if you are pre-organised with other companies or persons... our choise was just spontaneus) and giving location informations etc... At the time of check out we also checked out with mr Kenan and showed the place wich we can store our suitcases at the hotel (cause our flight was late) Above that more positive coments... Our transfer could much better before we say Goodbye Sarajevo! We asked to mr Kenan that we have big suitcases (for 3 adult 1 child 1 big 2 mid and 1 cabin luggage) is it possible to arrange a station wagon we would be perfecty fit in(cause from the airport we came like that and it was just perfect) and he sad yes ofcourse it s not a problem it would be 20 BAM and they work with a fix taxi station After that the negative part starts!!! At the time of leaving to grab our suitcases a lady welcomed us at the reception and we asked a taxi as we spoken with mr Kenan and she told us its not possible to have a station wagon. She sad she can call and wahtever car comes it comes We asked to call the taxi staiton and ask what mr Kenan sad to us. She told us there is no station car! there is only Van s if we want for 30 euros they can pick us up. instead of 20 BAM wich mr Kenan told us. Beside of the price difference we asked alternatives and she give an option to contact some body to transport us for 25 euros Between the price difference we decided to stop a taxi from the road and we find one taxi for 30 BAM. But it ended up almost with a fighting with the taxi guy for our luggages that he wanted charge us extra As a final we discovered the hidden gem of sarajevo! The cheating taxi drivers! I gave up to arg

I had an absolute brilliant stay at the Grad Hotel. Certainly one of the cleanest hotels I have ever been. Room was cleaned every day thoroughly well. Even the toilet was sanitized every day, and including new towels every single day !! Beds were also of a very high standard. Staff was absolutely friendly and helpful. When it was raining they offered me an umbrella, great !! Breakfast included.

Excellent hotel at a near perfect location. Staff is perfect, all of them speak good English and are very helpful. Breakfast is varied enough for a good start of the day. Very quiet at night (we slept on the backside). The centre is 5-10 minutes away, walking to Baščaršija took us 15 minutes at a relaxed pace. Free parking is available, but pretty cramped and hard to get in (or out) because of the car parked in the small alleys around the back entrance. All in all a great experience and we will certainly be back on our next trip to Sarajevo.

We stayed here for one night as part of an organised tour in August 2022. The hotel is a small drive out of the old city and the hotel is relatively new. Check-in was relatively quick and you can have some fun on the swings they have in the lobby. There are two stairwells in the hotel, so Reception will tell you which one to take to get to your room. Our room was at the end of the corridor and was nice and large. We had twin beds which were both big and comfy and everything was clean and tidy. Our room had plenty of space, a flatscreen tv, desk and chair and you can also see that the design was made to look as though part of the room had been built on. The bathroom was also large, with a big shower, nice fluffy towels, and plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Breakfast was very good - a good selection of hot and cold food. Plenty of juices, hot drinks and fruit etc. There's a spa and pool that you can use if you want to - we arrived late so just before it closed. The rooftop bar has great panoramic views (see the photo). Overall, I really liked this hotel and so did my friends.

If u want to stay near the old city this is the place!! Located a min walk from everything you want at the old city with its shops, restaurants and landmarks. The rooms are nice and clean, with a very nice breakfast, and my best Bosnian coffee I had during my trip, my family and I have been taking around by a great tour (meet Bosnia) and took us to number of great locations to try the best Bosnian coffee but really for me the best one was made by the amazing host Lady Maliha. This place I do highly recommend for all my friends as for sure they will enjoy the stay. Thanks and looking forward to coming back again
