Reception here is great. We arrived into Toowoomba and caught up with family before checking in. I didn't realise reception closed at 7pm. I received a call asking whta time I was expected and the receptionist explained that as the office closed at 7pm she would organise for our keys to be left in the night safe. That was really great customer service and we appreciated it. Potters, from the website, looks rather up market, but for us the room was dark and cramped. The bed was super comfortable (better than our bed at home) but the pillows were huge and lumpy. The nice thing about the room was that it had a sliding door that opened to a rather unwelcoming outside area. It was nice to be able to get cool, fresh air into the room though. At night the room was really dark and quiet despite having the sliding door and curtains open (there is a fly wire screen door too). We hadn't factored in that the hotel is right beside a child care centre, that during the week (and to a lesser extent Saturday morning) is quite noisy due to the playing children. This noise starts at around 7.30pm and gets louder and louder until around 9am when the children must go inside to play. It's a happy sound but maybe annoying if you wanted to sleep in. Mind you, if we had had the sliding door shut, most of that noise would be blocked. You can get breakfast here, which I have heard good reports about, but the service finishes at 9.30am so look sharp! This is an okay place to stay, but with no real character. We stayed in a ”deluxe king room”. It wasn't especially deluxe but the bed was a king sized one. I liked how quiet and dark the rooms were at night time, but I will probably look elsewhere for our next stay.

Room We stayed in room 303, which was an average sized hotel room with a sink, toaster and kettle, a tiny bar fridge, a microwave and cooktop and a limited supply of crockery, cutlery and cookware. It’s a bit of a stretch to call it a studio. It had an awkward, L-shaped configuration with nowhere to eat. The bed was comfortable enough, and being a very quiet room, we slept soundly. The small TV had free-to-air channels only, and there was a desk and chair facing the window. Two generous cupboards provided ample storage, with plenty of hangers. I didn’t see a safe, but then it wasn’t needed. The two bedside tables, each one with a drawer, were useful for extra storage. An overhead fan, strategically positioned in the middle of the room with a light, gave reasonable illumination, but overall, the lighting was not strong enough to be able to read easily. There were plenty of power points, so charging multiple phones at the same time did not present any problems. The free wi-fi gave us speedy and reliable internet service. There was very limited natural light, no balcony and a view that looked directly across to the next-door Oaks Hotel. This made it quite depressing and gloomy, especially in the grey and overcast winter weather. Luckily there was a decent air con/heater with a remote that worked well to keep the room warm. Bathroom The bathroom was also small but with a large shower with good water pressure, which tended to overflow the cubicle, making the floor rather permanently slippery and wet. The fact that there’s no window didn’t help matters either. There was a vanity under the basin to store toiletries and a shelf above the toilet. It did have the all-important solid locking wooden door for privacy. A small quantity of toiletries and other provisions were supplied. Service We found all the staff to be friendly, helpful and polite. They were more than happy to supply extra provisions and fresh towels when requested. I was a bit surprised though that the room was not serviced on Saturday morning. Checkout is a rather early 10.00am and when we asked for an extension to 12.00pm or even 11.00am, all that they could offer us was for a 10.30am checkout, which I thought was a bit mean. Parking One of the best features of this place is the easy parking. There are temp spots (15 minutes) right outside the front entrance, which makes loading and unloading your bags a breeze. Once you’ve checked in, received your keys and fob, and unloaded, you’ll need to move your car down to one of the lower levels, but that too is pretty handy and convenient with direct lift access. Location This I guess is the biggest plus for TCPAH because you couldn’t get a better spot in Toowoomba. It’s a five minute level walk to the huge Grand Central Shopping Centre, where you’ll find everything you need from supermarkets to restaurants, cafes, chemists, liquor stores, clothing stores etc. Just up the road a few minutes walk in the opposite direction you’ll find

Pure Land Guest House

Friendly staff, clean accommodation, onsite parking, breakfast included. Extra bedding supplied for cold nights, tv in room along with tea and coffee supplies and a kettle and a kitchen down the hall for guests to use. Clean bathrooms and toilets (3 of each in the main building). I was very happy with my stay and will recommend to others and stay here again on my next trip.
Downs Motel

I was looking for something cheap and comfortable, so I got a last minute rate, the cheapest I could find with a good rating. The Downs Motel exceeded my expectations. From extra goodies provided in the fridge, to the really spacious shower - I’m sold. For this looking for a comfortable place to rest their head, I definitely recommend this motel. A nice, clean bathroom and those extra amenities that all motels should have (but thy never do) microwave, kettle, toaster and iron. It started heading up today, so I was released to be able to turn the aircon on, as I stepped in. I’ll be back!

We booked online for four rooms as we were up from Melbourne for a wedding. We thought we just booked a budget room but wow were we impressed. Clean, modern rooms fully equipped with cooking station. Pool and billiards all in the recreation area. Perfect for what we needed and great location to town also. Would definitely stay here again

I contacted the motel via phone and explained our specific needs i.e. elderly parents needing easy shower and room access etc but needing accommodation for 6 adults in total. Kathleen couldn't have been more helpful and guided us re booking the 2 bedroom family unit and a deluxe queen with courtyard access and gave us a better rate than on the various sites. When we arrived they again couldn't have been more helpful and the unit for my parent's in law was exactly as needed - easy walk in from the car, clean, well laid out, walk in shower CLEAN etc, and easy walking distance from our 2 bdrm family unit. The 2 bdrm unit again was CLEAN - great kitchenette with domestic size fridge/freezer, microwave and basic small hotplate and small oven. Plenty of kitchen area. Table and chairs and lounge suite etc. The bathrooms in both mum and dads and our unit were large and easy access walk in showers. The bedrooms in our 2bdm unit had a king size bed in one room and a double (or queen?) and a single in the other room. Everything was clean and plenty of room and car parking right out the front of the units. It is also a great location as within walking distance is McCafe, 63 and various other food places. We would stay there again every time. Something to note - Google Maps and iPhone Maps seem to have satellite issues trying to locate the motel. Sent us up Ruthven Street numerous times incorrectly. Just try searching for McDonalds in that area and once near it you will be able to find the motel. If you are travelling from Brisbane up the range it is just up the top of the range and around the corner to the left. Having said that though as above, it was just great and so good for our situation.

We lived in Toowoomba for many years and chose the Oaks to stay and visit family. We enjoyed a lovely & clean two bedroom suite, great central location with great room service too. Staff were friendly and parking a breeze. We’ll be back!!
