The Elms Hotel & Spa

Impressive building with lots of character. You walk in to an excellent, dimly lit, on trend bar. Service at the bar took a bit of time and I was surprised that we were not served at the table. The order for the restaurant was taken at the table and our wine was walked through with a new bucket of ice on the table. The lunch was amazing, great starter, delicious main, very good value. My only groan is that there was nobody standing by in the dining room and keeping an eye out for requests from the diners. This meant having to wait until one of the waiting team came back and you caught their eye. The distance from the kitchen to the table doesn’t help their dilemma. Nonetheless we had a great time and relieved them of plenty of white Rioja. Excellent, well done team, but keep an eye on your audience!

Wonderful stay Myself and my wife recently stayed at the Elm for a few days. The staff are brilliant, from the moment I had an issue with the booking, dealt via a phone call, to lovely welcome in reception and all the staff in the hotel and spa, to Holly dealing with invoice query over the phone. Pro. Lovely location and setting. Good to see the grounds man looking after the grounds so well. Nice touch with an in house paper and your name on it as a welcome. Breakfast is excellent, with many options and wonderful staff. Being able to walk around in a bath robe (provided by the hotel) freely to use the swimming pool and spa. The swimming pool and jacuzzi are excellent facilities as are the staff. Bar staff check to see if you want another drink, even if you’re only people sitting outside. House keepers keeping the room spotless as well as the rest of the hotel. Afternoon tea was very good Website is very easy to use to look and book. Cons. Evening meal is expensive, especially for the portion sizes. I mean £15 or £20 for 100 grams (3.5 ounces in old money) of steak. Afternoon tea, wished there was more food as it was very good, plus cream as option with the scones. Website needs to be updated with the menu and the different afternoon tea options WiFi was not stable. Actually worked better outside than inside the hotel. Overall. Would definitely come back to stay.

What a stunning place! From the entrance of the hotel right through to my room I was blown away by the vavavoom decor! (even the ladies loos have fab decor!) Friendly welcoming staff, who took us all the way to our gorgeous suite ( no elevator, so be prepared to climb stairs... but so worth it) The 3 bed suite is absolutely gorgeous. We'll equipped with everything you might need from kettle to iron! I loved the handwritten note on the newsletter very personal The beds are very comfortable, seating area was lovely, an all round perfect suite. So much so, we didn't want to leave the room! we had brought some Xmas crafts with us, so we opened a bottle of wine, made crafts looking out at the stunning views...priceless quality family time. We did drag ourselves away from the gorgeous room to visit the lovely spa. We really embraced its , clean and serene environment. It was really lovely and relaxing, and the robe fit which is always a bonus point for me! We also tried the restaurant, which sadly was very disappointing. the only downside of the stay. Food was bird size tiny tiny portions which left you looking for snacks afterwards! Very pricey for rediculous sized portions. However, the breakfasts were perfect. This did not affect our experience at all, it's down to personal choice. But if you do opt to eat in the evening ensure you have back up food with you for afterwards! Breakfast was lovely, the veggie sausage was really tasty, and the choices were perfect and varied. I loved EVERYTHING about my 2 day stay here. As a Director of Guest Relations, I find myself looking at everything, and the team here at The Elms certainly delivered an amazing, personalised experience for my family visit. I will certainly be taking some positive feedback with me to share with my team My expectations were very high before I arrived and they were certainly met and elevated when I reluctantly left. An amazing, friendly personalised genuine team await you here at The Elms. I can not wait to come back with family and friends. The Elms Hotel is one of the original Country House Hotels in the UK I have been going over the past 4 decades and I believe the owners today are the best it`s had The Hotel is absolutely fantastic, from the landscaping, interiors, lighting, ambience, the team. We went for Sunday Lunch and it was perfecto. The Elms, has it!

Spa is tired and limited in terms of space and experiences. Extremely over-priced for what it is. I was gifted a voucher of high value from a group of friends for a birthday treat …and due to an extended illness ( that I couldn’t predict duration of) my voucher expired . When I contacted them and politely asked if it could be extended . It was flatly refused - resulting in 8 people losing their money and me not be able to enjoy the experience . Horrific customer service

Absolutely flawless experience. First time my partner and I had visited the Elms Spa & Hotel and will absolutely be returning again. The staff were extremely kind and helpful, food was exceptional, the facilities were immaculate, and the decor of the hotel and spa was stunning. We were greeted by Lorraine at reception who went out of her way during our stay to check in and make sure we were having a lovely time. Lorraine is one of those few individuals in life with that infectious positive and motivated life force which radiates to around them. My partner and I also had a great massage with Libby and Liv in the spa. Both of the ladies were super attentive and tailored the treatment to our preferences. This was by far the best massage i've had after many years of sports massages. The bar and restaurant staff were brilliant too. Food was served quickly and was great quality too. A specific shoutout to Joe behind the bar who served us great cocktails and was super friendly. All in all, we could not flaw our time at the Elms and will absolutely be making a return again very soon. Thank you to all the team at The Elms for a very special experience!
