Nomads Airlie Beach

The location is close to everything . The accommodations need better maintenance though . They sweep the room to clean real quick when there is someone checking out. I am in luck that my roommates are really nice and clean. The room look old and smell weird but if you stay long enough you will get used to it. They could make the room look better but they don’t .It’s a shame. Great place and good price for backpackers and caravan.
Whitsunday Reflections

I would 100% recommend staying at Whitsunday reflection. Everything about this apartment was absolutely stunning from the decor to the view. Our room was even nicer than the photos portrayed on and trip advisor. I honestly cannot fault this place especially considering the affordable price per night as well. The staff were also extremely friendly. The only ‘issue’ we had was the cold water tap didn’t really go cold. However we didn’t bother raising this issue to reception as if we had a jug in the fridge which we were filling up but I’m sure if we were to have pointed this out someone would’ve looked at the issue. 10/10 stay I would definitely return!!
Colonial Palms Motor Inn

Whitsundays, Airlie Beach Excellent Above and Beyond I was part of a large women’s group that stayed at Colonial Palms Cannot express my gratitude and appreciation enough to the attention I received, lost an earring, late checkout, luggage stowed, unusual diet, local information, nothing was a concern for this lovely crew! Excellent service from breakfasts, dinner, great coffee, spotless accomodation, to offering to pickup a member of our group, who was stranded by Qantas at PPP airport! This motel isn’t your corporate, online computer generated business its the friendly, caring service from the people who own the motel. Definitely returning.

If you’re arriving in the dark, DON’T if you’re in a small car be prepared to feel like you’re about to tip nose over boot! We arrived at 7.30pm and missed the entrance to this hotel. It’s so dark that you don’t see the signage until you’re half way up the hill then it’s not blatantly obvious that you have to take a sharpish right up another hill to reception. Be prepared for your car engine to struggle and sound like it’s about to explode with the effort! Checking in was a fairly easy affair they give you nifty eco friendly key cards made of bamboo! Finding your room might be another matter depending on where you are! The room itself is as fairly large, a super king bed, a sitting room/kitchen area and hidden away in a cupboard near the front door is a washing machine and upside down dryer! The spa bath was welcome after a long drive, the shower water leaked onto the tiled floor. The kitchen area has all the necessary equipment you’ll need and there is even 3 little sachets of laundry detergent to do washing. Pool towels are also provided. My biggest issue is the hill. It sits atop a very, very steep hill and whilst the hotel offers you a courtesy bus into the main shopping street if you want to go for a wander it’s nigh on impossible. So this hotel is NOT for the faint hearted or mobility impaired. The upside is you do get superb views across the bay. There are plenty of shops and bars in the main tourist ***** it is a tad busy and quite loud at night so we just avoided it. There are notices on the beach about not swimming in the water due to jellyfish. The weather is pretty hot but muggy just now but nothing that we didn’t expect. All in all the hotel was ok I’d advise staying at the Airlie Beach Hotel if you have any disabled travellers with you who we e just found out have really good facilities for disabled people! Drinks at Happy Hour are $15 per cocktail and $8 for a beer there are booze shops in town if you decide to buy your own. Breakfast was included in our booking and it was pretty standard but if you want a decent coffee you have to pay for it. You’re asked to take your own trash out with you when you leave which is a new one on me. If you’re looking for peace and tranquility Airlie Beach is not it, if you just need a base to slump into this will do you although there are cheaper places out there. It wasn’t awful but I wouldn’t return.

We nearly didn’t book this property due to the reviews but due to the cost decided to give it a try. Well am I glad I did. I found it to be great. Sure it is a bit tired here and there but all in all it was very comfortable, very clean and for a somewhat small studio there was lots of storage, a full kitchen. The manager said she is new and trying her hardest to make improvements.

From the moment we attempted to open the door to having the leave the room clean and tidy and “take out the garbage” as you leave, this place charged a premium price and doesn’t deliver. The smells from the restaurant’s exhaust fan next door comes into the bathroom, and stinks your room up!! It was built close to 50 years ago and looks like only the bare minimum has been done to upgrade the facilities. The fridge had no proper shelving, (see picture) which another traveler had bought to the owners attention several months ago. I thought by now they would have replaced them… but nope, that would cost them money. No cupboards, just a rack with no hangers provided. (See picture) You are given 1 white (greying) thinned towel for each guest, to last 4 days. What a joke, they don’t alert people to that fact when you book. Also the rack provided to dry your towels on is rusted. See picture. The toilet looks like it hasn’t been cleaned since the last century. Putrid. (See picture) we were expected to clean it when we left. Which made me wonder if these units are cleaned and sanitised between guests, particularly in this age of Covid!! Definitely a health hazard. No screens on doors, so you cannot sleep with the sliding door or window open for fresh air at night. Security is a big concern here as the back door doesn’t have a dead lock. We were warned about thieves coming into the complex, but obviously nothing has been done to secure the guests possessions while they are out. I would advise people to look elsewhere in Airlie Beach, and not waste hood money on this dump.
