Swinton Park

From start to finish everything was perfect. Everyone made us feel so welcome, from the staff to our fellow guests. We had so many great conversations with such a diverse group of wonderful people. We had a complimentary room upgrade which was wonderful, we stayed for 2 nights in the Thirsk room; which was lovely, warm and comfortable. I would recommend the Champagne welcome package and late checkout, it was great to enjoy a chilled glass of champagne in our room as we got ready for dinner. We ate both nights at Samuel’s, which is in a stunningly decorated dining hall, the service was exceptional and the food was delicious. Breakfast both days was also at Samuel’s and it was really nice; great value. They have cooked and continental available and it was all good quality. I would have liked more sweet options on the menu, perhaps French toast or waffles. But that’s just nitpicking. There’s loads of activities you can join in to, we really enjoyed the cocktail tasting at the Terrace bar, where we acted as guinea pigs for new cocktail creations, it was a fun experience. The cocktails which we actually paid for were also very good. Likewise the cocktails at Samuel’s bar were also well made. The spa was amazing, I especially liked the Finnish sauna and outdoor hydrotherapy pool and hot tub. The outdoor pool is cold but just take the plunge! You will not regret it. The spa also has lovely outdoor beds, with warm blankets and a hot water bottle. Perfect to relax with a few drinks. There’s honesty just too much to say, the house itself is stunning, the grounds are gorgeous and I cannot wait to return again.

Beautiful hotel in a tranquil setting, fantastic spa and facilities. Food and service at The Terrace restaurant outstanding! especially from Zachariah, thank you. Breakfast in Samuel’s restaurant lovely and yet again great service. Room very comfortable with lovely views across the estate. Will definitely look forward to a return visit.

Swinton park exceeded our expectations. The estate is beuatiful and the staff go above and beyond. We initally only booked to stay in the tree lodges but after spending time in the hotel for the spa and dinner we decided to book an extra night to stay in the hotel as well. The hotel has everything you could need for a relaxing stay i felt fully rested and recharged. Staying here has made our first wedding anniversary one to remember. Our only issues was it difficult to make reservations for dinner ect before arriving and for somethings it would have been nice to have more clear information for example I think we did not recieve some of the benifits of booking a suite but was difficult to know.

Enjoyed celebrating out 40th Anniversary at this lovely hotel. Great service and food in both Samuels and Terrace restaurants. Room in the Coach House was large and comfortable with a lovely ensuite bathroom, and had everything required. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Spa is a lovely place to relax - only complaint would be to have a few more inside loungers by the pool. Extensive grounds which we would have explored more if the weather had been better.

From first sight, Swinton Park Hotel and spa is impressive and didn't disappoint. To the contrary, it more than met my expectations. However it's the staff that ultimately make orc'break'a place and I have to say the staff at Swinton Park Hotel and spa could not have been more helpful, friendly or polite. Great customer service. No jobsworth here! Facilities and environment exceptional. I highly recommend and already plan to return. If there's one area for improvement it is access via telephone when trying to book. Business can be lost. So answering phones and returning calls promptly or an efficient online booking system will attract new business and bookings, rather than deter such bookings. I think they may be missing out on business.....

Post wedding stay, before honeymoon. First drinks on arrival, we sat outside in view of the deer park, smells coming up from new drain (cover), this was not good. We stayed in the Bradford room, the shower controls needed updating (not user friendly), the fruit in the fruit bowl was old and bad (had to get it replaced), the windows not cleaned fully (not a good look) and the hairdryer the worst she had used. Terrance bar & restaurant, the staff did not know the menu and had to keep going to see the chief to then inform us. We went outside for an evening drink and the heaters did not work, so we had to go inside. Spar not working fully, then staff started cleaning the outside pool whilst we were in it. No flip flops either day. They told us they had run out and the next day they said they were on order. On paying the final bill, we got the incorrect bill on two occasions. Then ask to speak to manager, this manager did care he said he was leaving at the end of the week, because he is sick of dealing with people problems. I had contacted Swinton to speak to another manager, at the end of the week. Because nobody contacted me. I have stayed at Swinton numerous times in the past years; the grounds, house and area are beautiful. It is not a cheap stay, and the quality is on the decline. These errors can be addressed with the right managers, but I am not confident this will happen with the current team. I am extremely disappointed because we have had good memories and stays at Swinton over the years.

Had an overall amazing experience staying in the beautiful York suite for our wedding anniversary. Unfortunatly unable to give 5 stars as we were unable to check in until 4.30 due to the room not being ready , meaning we were rushed in the spa and had no time to enjoy the pre booked prosecco in our room. The food in Samuels restaurant and the whole of the facilities and setting of Swinton were as lovely as anticipated.

Excellent stay, very welcoming staff and overall a fabulous venue. The food was excellent, and we will stay here again

Delayed room check in 4.30 instead of 3pm left little time to enjoy other facilities. Whilst some of the food choices were delicious others not so much. Slow service at breakfast. Room was clean spacious and a huge comfortable bed. Bathroom big modern with shower and free standing bath. All staff polite and courteous. For the price paid we expected everything to be perfect and it wasn’t .
