Hotel berhampiran Centro Storico, Alberobello

This hotel is centrally located in a beautiful city, next to the train station and within walking distance of all those trulli, a magnificent cathedral and the main touristy part of town where there are many restaurants, cafes and bars. Despite this being an UNESCO World Heritage Site and at the height of the tourist season, it was not especially busy. The Astoria hotel service was exceptional throughout my stay. There were issues with the internet initially but those were quickly fixed by Franchesco, the irrepressible front desk attendant who also poured me a great glass of red at their bar. His help didn't stop there - he helped me with printing my boarding pass and showing me the locations of everything I needed to see. Thank you. The breakfast the next day was outstanding with fruits, cereal, pies, meats, cheeses, yoghurts and various other goodies. This place was really good value.

Oh my goodness, this was beyond what I was expecting! What a beautiful experience staying in an authentic Trulli. Ours was No 59 down its own little side street just off the main drag. I felt like I had stepped back in time, but with just the right amount of modern touches to make your stay comfortable. Our host Francesco was so helpful in recommending our experience, and an excellent choice of restaurant for dinner at La Cantina, we even saw him giving guided tours around the village. Breakfast was in the wine bar, next to the check in area and was enough to set you up for the day. The photos you see of Alberobello just don't do it justice, you HAVE to come to experience it yourself. An amazing overnight experience..... thank you Francesco.

As stated the hotel is isolated and set up for conferences, weddings, tours. Having said that, we found the staff (especially the waiting staff and bar staff) were friendly and helpful and cheerful, especially as they were run off their feet. The reception team were cheerless and had that couldn't be bothered attitude. Setting- Grounds and pool area lovely. We didn't use the pool but others told us it was very cold. You can hire towels but changing them costs 3e each time- something that should be included in a 4* hotel. Rooms- Having read previous reviews, we asked for one with a view ( rather than looking inwards at the other buildings) It was nice and light with a balcony and chairs/ table. Bed was large and very comfortable and room spacious. Dark and quiet at night too. No English TV channels, but a huge flat screen TV over the vanity area without a mirror. Bathroom - large and has a rainfall shower. Plenty of towels, but too dark. A/C was good the first half of the week (although you cannot adjust the temperature manually, you have to ring reception to change the stat!) the second half of the week, the A/C was running loudly all night, without cooling. We did report this but it was never rectified. I guess no one bothered as many guests only stay a night or 2. WIFI kept dropping out in the bedroom- you had to pick up the signal right at the bedroom door ( it was fine in public areas) Again , we reported this but we got a shrug of the shoulders from reception staff who said no one had ever had a problem! The towels were replaced daily and bedding changed once during the week, however the cleaning was under par. Neither the floors nor the units were cleaned all week. Ladies, take your own hairdryer ( its an old fashioned tube one in the bathroom) and an extension lead as the only mirror is on the wardrobe as you enter the bedroom. There's a quiet fridge in the room. Its safe to use the tap water to drink. Meals- We were part of a smallish group and sat in the smaller, quieter dining room. It was a relief as the main hall is HUGE and like a canteen. (This is where the breakfast buffet is set up) Evening meals were generally very nice. 3 courses , nouvelle cuisine style . You choose from 3 choices ( for each course ) the night before. The translation doesn't always work too well, but its lots of fun! Considering the huge numbers of meals produced, the kitchen does well, and the waiting staff are hardworking and smiley. Wines are reasonably priced, and the staff will save your bottle for you for the next evening. Breakfasts varied in that if you have an early start you may be jostling with huge parties of people ( some not so polite!) to collect your food and drinks. Coffee is typically Italian and very strong, but there are hot and cold milks to hand. There are cereals, fruit, honey, yogurt, pastries, scrambled egg, boiled eggs, cheeses and ham, and tomatoes. Our second visit to this hotel, the previous occasion being 5 years ago. Situated in the countryside about 5 miles from the nearest towns on a quiet country road making it the perfect tranquil location. The rooms consisting of a series of modern Truli buildings across the immaculate grounds, we were near the pool and a few minutes walk from the restaurant and reception. However on this occasion our stay was a little disappointing. Firstly when we went into our room (15) we noticed the bed cover was torn around the bottom. My wife decided to have a bath before going to dinner but unfortunately there was no bath plug ! So whilst my wife had a shower I had a look around the room and noted that the coat hanger next to the entrance door was hanging off the wall and loose. Going into the bathroom the towel rail by the sink was also hanging off. The hotel staff were helpful and found a bath plug the next day. The room was cleaned to a high standard every day. The breakfasts were quite good on the whole but there was no fresh orange juice during our stay. Evening meals with the half board arrangement had a very limited menu that changed only twice all week. The starters were basically the same every day and the main courses were just a variation on a theme . The English translation of the menu was not accurate and on one occasion was totally wrong which caused a huge fuss in the kitchen. The main courses were often served with no salad or veg, just a piece of fish or meat and not much more. I understand the hotel has changed hands in recent years but there are signs of costs being cut in certain areas, i.e. room maintenance and meals. However these are areas that shouldn't be skimped on and it took the edge off our stay this time. We have done the whole area now and the hotel is well situated to do so but we are unlikely to return again.

Siamo tornati in Puglia , a Selva di Fasano dopo 15 anni. Questo angolo di Puglia è incantevole.. Abbiamo scelto di tornare nello stesso hotel di allora dove avevamo trascorso un piacevolissimo soggiorno. Stessa fantastica location, giardino curatissimo , pulizia e servizi impeccabili, personale sempre disponibile, ottima cucina. Una vera oasi di relax, alternando giornate al mare e serate in collina tra ulivi e trulli. Ben organizzato anche il servizio al mare, con il trasferimento con la navetta alla spiaggia privata. Complimenti a tutto lo staff, non vediamo l'ora di tornare..

Ottima struttura immersa nelle campagne vicino a Martina Franca, la posizione permette di raggiungere facilmente zone come: Polignano a mare, Monopoli, Alberobello, Grotte di Castellana tutte a circa 40/45 minuti di macchina. La struttura è molto curata, la Junior suite comoda per famiglie con un bel giardino curato che permette di passare piacevoli momenti in completa privacy. Tutto il personale è gentilissimo ma un plauso speciale va ai ragazzi della reception e della piscina che sono bravissimi e disponibili, tutto merito di una direttrice della masseria attenta e presente. Se si cerca una bella struttura, relax, buon cibo e personale cortese, la struttura è quella giusta.
