Hotel berhampiran Cala di Porto Agra, Alghero

For the seasonal traveler, one will not find much wrong but for the avid luxury, yet cost-conscious traveler, and Italy aficionado..… there is room for improvement. The hotel has clean decent rooms but suffers from its remote location. You will be happy if you like a quiet remote location in the middle of a beautiful nature with nothing 15mn away. It is 1:45mn away from Olbi airport and 45mn away from Algheri airport. No shops, no stores, not much entertainment on the premises (jet ski, games, kids club, diverse restaurant menus and bar...) and if you enquire about the surroundings, you may not get much information. The expensive room rates do not justify the too basic room cosmetic amenities (is there no young regional person making natural local cosmetics the hotel could promote so customers could discover and maybe sponsor?), the bathroom toilet bin lid was malfunctioning and never replaced, the shower head orientation made it impossible not to soak the entire bathroom shelves and floor not matter where it was positioned, the hotel lacked concierge services and the reception staff was inexperienced in terms of checkin (unable to multitask and asking several times the same questions to clients during a single consult which would take at least 10 mn per customer for basic requests like the checkin, a taxi reservation, a restaurant or beach recommandation… ( this is unacceptable during daytime or high traffic times). The staff (3 people at the desk) had extremely limited knowledge of local restaurants, beach local activities, shuttle and bus routes and schedules… the gift shop is very limited considering how remote the place is. And again forget local souvenirs…

View from hotel is amazing and grounds of hotel are top notch however the rooms are only adequate but very well kept by polite staff Pool is great and kept very well. Groundsman keeps the place looking spot on. Beach and jetty are lovely to walk along. Breakfast is great and has a huge choice, staff are very friendly in here. The bad points No 1 the big one and did ruin my stay some what. The food. Fish fish fish and more fish!!!!! If you’re not a fish lover Do not come here! Literally only couple of options that aren’t fish having travelled very far extensively through Italy and Sicily before I’ve not encountered this before. The food was really well cooked and the steak was amazing just can’t eat that every night for 2 weeks! There’s no pizza or non fish pasta options. And when you’re so stuck in one place did ruin a bit for us. Taxis are very expensive. Hotel doesn’t have bikes or scooters and the ones you can hire are so expensive it’s cheaper to get a car. While this may be ok for a few days we were here for 2 weeks! Small limited shop is 20 mins away and charge through the roof. The bar has been hit and miss on service dependent on who was working on it some fantastic some not so! The bed was rock solid! We ended up sleeping on top of the duvet Again the hotel doesn’t have bikes or scooters and feels like that to keep you here to pay over odds for drinks and eat fish! The place its self is stunning but I wouldn’t return just for food situation sadly. I can see how others will love it tho just not me unfortunately

We have just checked out a day early from hotel Alma. I truly don’t mean this to be a scathing review, just a completely transparent one. I do also want to start by saying much as this hotel disappointed us, the staff were absolutely brilliant. Everyone we spoke to was helpful and friendly. This hotel looked amazing online so we booked. We paid extra for a Deluxe double with sea view. When we arrived, our initial impression was disappointing. The hotel is down a dark alley, and the bar in the reception area is tiny. We were informed there is no restaurant here (to be fair we should have checked online first, we just assumed there would be a restaurant on site). We got to the Room, the whole room smelled stale and the bedding absolutely stank of mildew and mould. It was dark and raining when we arrived so we thought perhaps we were being unfair and said we should give it another chance in the morning when it was bright. We stayed in room 401, which was on the same floor as the breakfast room. From 7am, we heard every guest in the hotel walk up and down for their breakfast. The room had a balcony but the door was jammed. We also didn’t realise the hotel faced a busy road so we heard noise from traffic all night. The decor in the room was tired and dated, the curtains in the room were covered in holes from general wear and tear. There was only a thin sheet on the bed, there was a duvet without a cover in the wardrobe but this smelled like it had not been washed from the previous guests. The hair dryer in the room is one of those ancient ones that kept overheating and only worked for 30 second intervals at a time. We tried to go for breakfast on 3 different occasions. We could not get a table the first 2 so had to keep going back to check for a table. When we did get a table the choice was very limited. Flies were landing over the uncovered food, dairy products were left sitting out unrefrigerated and the toaster didn’t work. The hot food options consisted of undercooked scrambled egg, dry bacon, baked beans and chopped up sausage. The bread that was out was stale. The hotel advertised an outdoor rooftop pool which looked amazing in Photos. In reality this pool was a massive let down. The pool itself is small and does not have a bar area - seriously? Why would a rooftop pool in a holiday destination not have a bar? Again, maybe our fault for not checking this first but it would be safe to assume there would be a bar. Also because of the storm the day before and the pool being uncovered the water was filthy and full of debris. The hotel had parking but charged €15 a day for the parking which is a bit steep. I understand this hotel may be ideal for some people, but this was our honest opinion. The hotel has so much potential but is just massively oversold and overpriced in our opinion. The photos are completely misleading and the property looks nothing like the photos. It is also around a 25 minute walk to Alghero old town. We wouldn’t Recomme

Camera molto confortevole , pulizia eccellete. Purtroppo questa struttura esige il check out entro le ore 10, 00 e non da nessuna possibilità di depositare le valigie , capirete che se uno ha il volo alle 15,40 dello stesso giorno non ha alternative se non trascorrere 5 ore accompagnandosi alla valigia o andare all'aeroporto e trascorrere le ore che trascorrono prima della partenza, mi è stato risposto successivamente in repplica alla mia precedente recensione che esiste a pagamento un LUGGAGE ROOM , che non mi è stato menzionato al momento del chek-in. Colpa mia che, al momento della prenotazione mi è sfuggito il particolare di questo regolamento del chek-out alle 10,00 del tutto raro a trovarsi, pensavo a quello canonico di tutti gli Hotels e di altri B&B delle ore 11/12,00. Ebbene siamo stati redarguiti in modo molto maleducato da un a persona che non si è nemmeno presentata , ma abbiamo intuito poteva essere il proprietario, che ,al mio tentato di giustificare il fatto di avere lasciato la valigia pronta in camera sino alle 12,00 per non aver inavvertitamente letto questo regolamento, si è voltato e senza salutare (ribadisco) se ne andato senza replicare . Tengo a precisare in replica che al nostro ritorno ore 12,00 la camra era stata fatta dal personale che si occupa del ripristino delle camere,senza creare alcun grave disagio come citato dal proprietario nella sua repplica, si precisa che in questa struttura il chek-in si fà alle 15,00, quindi non cerano alla porta alcun altro ospite in attesa (di cosa stà parlando)Altra cosa falsamente evidenziato dal proprietario che ci ha tacciato di aver fumato in camera , cosa falsa e menzioniera poichè questo è avvenuto sul balcone della camera all'aperto con tutti i riguardi del caso tenendo ben chiusa la porta della camera che dà sul balcone. Faccio ancora notare in replica ... che ci ha girato le spalle Davvero da ”CAFONE” ... ci voleva poco ad essere gentile esponendo le stesse cose. Io non mi permetterei mai , di scrivere falsità in una recensione non ho motivi , probabilmente il proprietario è anche permaloso e menzoniero per usare un eufemismo, capisco che per difendersi lei si arrampica sui vetri , ma dire falsità sul comportamento degli ospiti mi sembra veramente di bassa professionalità per non dire altro. Sia una certezza e non solo una promessa per il proprietario che non ci torneremo più in questa struttura.

Abbiamo pernottato 4 notti e le uniche due note positive dell’hotel sono sulla posizione centrale e molto comoda e sul personale molto cortese. Dalle foto avevo aspettative molto alte che sono state pienamente deluse. Ci è stata assegnata una stanza con finestra che affacciava su un muro in più coperta dall’impalcatura che rendeva il tutto molto buio. Gli arredi lasciano molto desiderare in quanto datati e un odore sgradevole all’interno della stanza. Il secondo giorno abbiamo usufruito del servizio pulizia in stanza e non c’è stato rimpiazzato il bagnoschiuma. Per quello che abbiamo pagato mi aspettavo molto di più considerando che nel prezzo non era inclusa neanche la colazione.

Siamo stati ad Alghero tante volte e in tante strutture e posso dire finalmente di aver trovato il nostro posto!! Bella l’idea del check-in in autonomia, non ti vincola con l’orario di arrivo. La struttura è meravigliosa, la camera era perfetta con l’idromassaggio che l’arricchiva ancora di più. Massima pulizia e attenzione al dettaglio. Ben riscaldata. Ampia, luminosa. Con un prezzo adeguato all’ offerta. Il personale gentilissimo, la donna delle pulizie con il passo felpato di un gatto aveva già iniziato a pulire le stanze e non ci siamo resi conto di niente ( altre volte siamo stati svegliati in malo modo da rumori molesti di mobili e letto spostati). La colazione al bar accanto buona e con personale allegro e disponibile. TORNEREMO PRESTO

A wonderful hotel with a beautiful sea view, access to the beach (best if you bring swimming shoes) & promenade, a very nice courtyard with flowers and a seating area to enjoy your mornings/evenings. A short walk to the old town and the most important sites. The restaurant is serving very delicious breakfast and dinner every day! All the staff are so attentive and did their u**ost to make our stay exceptional and unforgettable! The reception, restaurant and housekeeping teams all make you feel at home like family! A special thanks goes to the front office: Antonio M., Antonio S., Mauro, Sabrina, Monica; restaurant staff: chef Patrizia P., Angelo, Gianpietro, Massimo, Stefania. They are all stars! A separate grazie mille goes to Mr. Piero!

We stayed at Carlos V again this year, just like last year. What made us really happy was that Daniela from the restaurant, the reception staff, and even the cleanup lady remembered us. (The cleanup lady even remembered which floor we stayed on last year!) Once again, we had a wonderful summer vacation here. To start, at reception, we were upgraded from a garden view room to a sea view room. The view was absolutely stunning! The restaurant staff were very kind, and we were glad we chose the half-board option. We also enjoyed using the pool bar. Although we saw a few negative reviews, after seeing how hard the staff work in such hot and busy conditions, I can’t bring myself to say anything negative. Thank you again for another fantastic summer. We truly had a great time!

We had such a great time here, awesome pool, large garden, olive trees. Well maintained. Staff super-friendly, restaurant has great food and is visited by locals regularly. Location is perfect, just north of Alghero, and next to the Airport (but no noise). This will be a recurring booking goong forward. Also enjoyed the wildlife, alpine swifts diving in to drink from the pool, large butterflies.
