Mediterraneo Bay Hotel & Resort

I stayed here as a family of 3 adults 1 child during May half term. Overall the pools were fun for my child but I was disappointed for the price we paid. I will elaborate if you wish to read a long review... Check in - we arrived at 9.30 pm and Alba on reception was very friendly and helpful and sent us for dinner before checking us in as they finish serving at 10pm. Luis (who was great all week) helped us find the correct restaurant as there are 3 near the lobby. His English is limited but always very friendly and helpful. Things then went downhill as the lady at the restaurant insisted on a room number or wristband but we hasn't checked in yet, we persuaded her eventually but she struggled to understand why I hadn't checked in yet. Room- was a good size, clean and had the sea view we paid for. The Balcony chairs were a bit flimsy and the balcony wall was a bit dirty. Again things went downhill in term of the door lock. The handle had been loose and difficult to get the door to open from arrival but twice during the holiday we were locked out of the room due to the door lock being faulty - this was for hours at a time. Initially the lady on reception was very curt and suggested it was my fault for storing the key near my phone and didn't apologise - gave us 2 new keys which didn't work either (like I said this was an issue with the door not the key). Someone was sent to fix it which took over an hour. The next day we got locked out after breakfast and I hadn't taken my bag so had to money or sunscreen. By 11.30 it was still broken so I politely but firmly asked for them to hurry up as the whole family was stuck in the bar inside as we didn't want to get sunburnt. About 15 mins later a maintenance man was sent to the room luckily we found him as he was able to check our keys worked before leaving, he was very friendly and helpful. Pools- This is where to hotel should excel but again it was let down by some issues. The lagoon pool near the new swim up rooms was shut on and off throughout the holiday, not sure why we were thrown out by a lifeguard one day and on another day it was full of palm tree offcuts as they were chopping them back by the pool (not sure why this wasn't done before the opened for the season or before the pool was filled up after shutting it?) There was some confusion by Jet2 who insisted this pool was fully open- but it wasn't. The main adult pool is OK but can get busy as the other pool was shut. The children's pool with the fire engine seemed great but the water didn't turn on till 11am (my child really wanted to go in right after breakfast at 9.30/10am). It was poorly maintained on close inspection, quite rusty in places and some broken bits (again I would expect this to be fixed out of season). The slide pool was good for older children but most of the nearby sunbeds the elastic or height adjustment is broken so not very comfy. Firstly as someone who reads plenty of reviews , I thought it was keen to write one and also to provide some context and honesty. I always read reviews based on the fact that some people will love a place and others pick fault. The hotel is lovely we were in room 527 which overlooked the sea which was beautiful. The room had two large double beds, a lovely bathroom and wonderful balcony. It was clean and tidy. The food was what you would expect from a buffet. Plenty of choice and hot. For all those people reviewing the food negatively, they need to re evaluate what they expect from a buffet style hotel. Highlights were the omelettes (lovely lady serving them) and the kids loved the Nutella and chocolate fountain pancakes (as did I). The evening meal choices were vast with plenty of salad, grilled meat and fish options alongside other delicacies and the classic pizza and pasta area. We were half board so can’t comment on lunches or snack bar. The hotel was relatively quiet for our stay, so we didn’t have any issues with queues and all the staff we encountered throughout our stay were brilliant and help me with some of my Spanish pronunciation. The bar area is well located with plenty of seating. Nothing better than a nice cold sangria over looking the pool. The pools were cold but once in it was fine, the slides were great fun as well. Yes there are some cracked tiles but for such a large pool area this wasn’t an issue and I’m sure the hotel will improve for next season. There are plenty of flat walks in either direction at the back of the hotel following the footpath. Bikes and electric scooters can be hired locally and the well signed cycle paths adjacent to the footpath gave us great fun. We visited the market on Thursday which was classic Spanish market, there is a shopping centre (Grand plaza) that is either a good walk or short bus trip away. My daughters enjoyed primark, H&M and Pandora in there. Overall my family (wife, two girls 14-11 and my dad) had a great time and would go back. The weather was early 20s in October half term and was brilliant. Thanks to all the staff.

Stayed here all inclusive, booked with Jet 2 and paid extra for a sea view room (..don’t bother as we had a mostly pool view ) I’d advise anyone who is English to avoid going here as they don’t like English people , and that goes for any shops or bars nearby aswell, although saying that there isn’t much nearby to go to, especially for evening meal.. no restaurants etc…This hotel is the least friendly I’ve ever stayed at, staff in bars and reception are not friendly or smiley and not at all helpful .we requested cots for the grandchildren, but was told non available, so had to have them In bed with parents, unbelievable 😟 Rooms definitely need updating, our room walls were peeling, furniture was warped, outdoor stool broken, fridge rusty inside.. Although we were Ai there was nothing in the fridge, no water, drinks etc, just empty .. No kettle or tea coffee facilities… Disappointed that jet2 send uk people here, when they are not wanted…🫤 Beachfront it says , well the beach is terrible, not nice sand , feel like you’ve been walking barefoot on a building site, no wonder the beach is empty. However the swimming pools are nice. Good is very repetitive, I’ve never been to a hotel before that clears your plates away, but leaves your used knife and forks, so u can reuse them🙁. Overall a very disappointing holiday

Nice hotel but entertainment lacking was all in Spanish, did not facilitate for English, was there mid June, we left hotel every night similar to that of all other brits went for walks but still nothing. In week was quiet, was busier weekend, but still no entertainment in local bars, no music or anything, we walked to next town playa de Serena further up as recommended on thread in week but still lacking. Food was OK, all inclusive drinks could of been better, only had three cocktails options for whole duration of the week, other hotels I have stayed out would change everyday. There was plenty of sunbeds, and didn't feel had to rush out, but would recommend if staying in this hotel to hire the large beds by pool, they were 25 euros a day but managed to fit our family of 6 on, 4 adults 2 kids, and can reserve day before. So no stress of sunbeds. We picked this hotel due to beachfront location and want to visit with youngest to make sand castles, if you don't already know beach is a shingle beach so can't. Summary I wouldn't visit again, and wouldn't recommend unfortunately, not hotel fault more resort as all other hotels in area are same.

The hotel is really nice and clean. Room was big and the food was amazing. Always food to cater for everyone. Pools are great and kids love the slide. Not so good things is its mainly for Spanish. Not English as advertised. As soon as English kids or adults try and interact with Spanish they seem to dissappear. And the few activities that r on they ask Spanish to join in and not English. Entertainment is rubbish hardly any. . Jet2 shouldn't be advertising this hotel. Nothing wrong with the Spanish it should just be a Spanish hotel. Also not a sandy beach. Was a great stay though and we enjoyed our week thanks

Nice hotel. Very clean comfortable rooms. Good choice of food on the buffet. Friendly staff. We arrived late due to delayed fight and as restaurant was closed food had been prepared and plated up for us which was very welcome after a long day. Nice swimming pool area.

Big slides only open at certain times been closed most of the day because they need to fill the pool up entertainment people just talk to the Spanish and by pass the English food is average had some undercooked chicken on occasions nothing really around the hotel like bars restaurants just a few pool as been dirty other than that lots of space during the week hotel gets very busy at weekends due to lots of Spanish coming in

Fantastic place. Everyone friendly. Our room was perfect for us had everything we needed and was spacious. Great seaview. Pools are great. Inflatables and balls allowed. Plenty of sunbeds around all the pools. The week we were there 9th - 16th June it was busy at the weekends with Spanish families but the week was very quiet. Food ok but very repetitive always found something we liked. Shops a few mins away. Beach literally on the doorstep with sunbeds and umbrellas. Beautiful promenade to walk along. Would we return? Yes. 🙂

We are very satisfied with our stay in this hotel. All the areas are very clean and the room too. The food was good and there was always something nice and tasty to eat. The staff is very friendly. Especially our waitress Soukaina who was always very helpful, nice and smiling! The only suggestion I can really give is to add an extra trash bin in the room. The one in the bathroom is very small and when you have kids to tend to have more trashes so an extra bin in the room would really help. This is not a critique just an helpful suggestion!! We are really happy with our stay!
