Hotel berhampiran Haus der Veener Geschichte, Alpen

Am Rand der Stadt Wesel gelegen mit einem großen Parkplatz befindet sich dieses schöne Hotel. Das einchecken war unproblematisch und schnell. Mein Zimmer befand sich in einem Nebengebäude in der ersten Etage über einer Kegelbahn, von der ich keine Geräusche wahrgenommen habe. In der Zeit meiner Anwesenheit waren dort Tagungsgäste und Geschäftsleute abgestiegen. Zur niederländischen Grenze sind es ca 45 km und zum Airport Düsseldorf ca 70 km. Ausflugsmöglichkeiten gibt es reichlich. Das Zimmer war ausreichend groß und sauber. Die Einrichtung passt zu einem Land Hotel. Das Bad mit Dusche und WC passt auch dazu. Geschlafen habe ich sehr gut. Das Frühstück lässt keine Wünsche offen. Es gab einen sehr guten Filterkaffee, ein Cafe Crema wäre mir lieber gewesen. Zur Bar, die abends geöffnet hat kann ich leider nichts sagen. Das Personal ist aber sehr freundlich.

Wir haben mit unserem Kleinkind ein Zimmer gebucht, um zwei Tage im nahe gelegenen Park Irrland zu verbringen. Bis zum Einchecken hatte ich lediglich eine Reservierungsbestätigung mit Buchungsnummer und QR Code (meiner Erfahrung nach zum Check in) erhalten. Abends gegen 19Uhr standen wir nun mit müdem Kleinkind vor geschlossener Tür - Von einem Code für den Schlüsseltresor stand weder auf der Internetseite noch in der Mail etwas (laut Internetseite sei die Rezeption wochentags bis 22Uhr besetzt). Ich rief bei der Hotline an, hier war ich 2x insgesamt über 10min in der Warteschleife und wurde beide Male aus der Leitung geworfen. Andere Gäste im Inneren haben uns in die Lobby gelassen und reichten uns die nette Mitarbeiterin am Telefon weiter (nachdem sie übers Telefon der Rezeption über das Partnerhotel eine Karte codiert bekamen). Uns sollte über die Hotline auch eine der auf dem unordentlichen Tresen liegenden Karten codiert werden, was nicht funktionierte, sodass wir vor verschlossener Zimmertür standen. Also mit dem mittlerweile übermüden Kleinkind wieder zum Telefon in die Lobby und weitere Minuten in der Warteschleife. Nachdem uns die Mitarbeiterin noch einmal die Karte codiert hatte, konnten auch wir den Hörer direkt an die nächsten Gäste weiterreichen, die vor verschlossener Tür standen und ebenfalls nicht wussten was sie tun sollten. Nach über 45Minuten konnten wir endlich ins Zimmer. 2 Sterne gibt es nur für das Frühstück des angrenzenden Restaurants - hier war man sehr bemüht und es war sehr lecker. Was ist das für eine Organisation und für welchen Service zahlt man hier über 130€ die Nacht? Eine Rückmeldung des Hotels auf meine Beschwerde gab es übrigens auch nicht - wohl aber die Abbuchung nur 30Minuten nach dem telefonischen Check-Out, da auch morgens die Rezeption nicht besetzt war.

What a lovely place! The room is clean and spacious. Enough storage possibilities. We found the crew very helpful and friendly. The hotel offers a lot of information and discounts for activities around Arcen. Our room was located next to the garden opposite the restaurant. Very confenient :-) We thought it might be noisy but it wasn't at all.

Visited as part of a Scottish Hockey Team, 21 of us in total, most stayed here, but a couple stayed across the road, we saw a double room It was small no air conditioning but still a decent room. Friendly checkin from luvly welcoming staff, on the Thursday evening when we arrived, the two ladies on reception were very efficient at checking us in, also very good serving us drinks once everyone had returned from having dinner. Other teams were also staying, so the place was very busy during the tournament. We had room 508, which was luvly, spacious, and clean with plenty shelving and wardrobe space, a safe and a fridge. with a view of the gardens. The bathroom was spacious with good storage areas for toiletries, makeup, etc. a decent hairdryer and magnifying mirror, and a good shower, the room was cleaned daily to a very high standard. Breakfast was buffet style, with plenty of food on offer, fruit juices, fruit, cereals, cold meat, cheese, bread/rolls/croissants, fried eggs, sausages, bacon and scrambled eggs. Coffee machine and various teas so something for everyone, breakfast staff worked very hard during the 3 mornings when ourselves and other teams arrived at the same time. We sat outside which was really nice in the garden area. The hotel has luvly comfy seats and seating areas to relax in, also nice pictures on the walls. Reception staff were very helpful ordering us taxis to go to our games. A couple of evenings we njoyed drinks in the bar area, again the staff were friendly and chatty. We stayed an extra 3 days, just to see the area and visit museums, shops etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return next year. :) :)

When we checked in; 1 agent checked us in while the other 2 just stared at us like we were aliens. One of them had a smirk on their face throughout my check-in, I wanted to ask what she thought was so funny with us checking into the hotel but I didn’t want to spoil the evening. They all started laughing when we left the checkin desk. Know that we are non-European. Very unwelcoming and unprofessional. I suggest cultural diversity training. The beds were disgusting! Small strips of hair all over the fitted sheet. The Most Disgusting was the pee stain on the sheets! The bed smelled like piss too. It was supposed to be non-smoking but someone had been smoking in the room or the insulation/vent systems need more work. I didn’t want to deal with the unprofessional front desk staff so I suffered through the uncleanliness and just put 2 towels on top of the duvet just to feel at ease sleeping, even though we were only there for one night…Thank God I didn’t book for longer. The only positive was breakfast; it was adequate for 1 night stay. Definitely won’t be spending another dime here.

This was NOT a good experience. We go to hotels for around the same price a night a lot and this was the worst to date. The hotel room was small and old. The lights were so dim taking a shower in the small place was a real challenge. The cushions and mattress were bad and there were people being extremely loud during the night outside our window. The breakfast was very minimal and lacked healthy options. The worst hotel breakfast we ever encountered. When we checked out we had to pay 10 euro extra for having parked our car. No other hotel has ever asked this from us.

We`ve booked a room for 3 but it wasn`t ready, so we were put in 2 adjusted rooms, which was great. Had the best sleep in there. Very friendly staff, breakfast was absolutly beatiful as well. Definetely going back, if we are on the way and need a sleep in between journeys
