Hotel berhampiran Amsterdam Oud Zuid, Amsterdam

We had a really lovely experience at de bedstee which exceeded our expectations. The capsule was much more spacious than we expected (I’m around 5 ft 5 and could kneel) and the air conditioning kept it nice and cool. The double bed was very comfortable with multiple plug sockets and adjustable LED lights and there was enough space on a shelving unit to keep your bags and shoes in - the capsule is obviously lockable so keeps your belongings safe. The wifi was excellent. Also came with dressing gowns and towels for the communal bathrooms. The bathroom was very clean and well equipped with soap, shower gel shampoo and hairdryers. We had a stressful journey with our flight being cancelled and then rebooked with multiple delays, and the staff were very accommodating to this and let us check in very late at night with no additional cost. The only thing is that we were on the top ‘bunk’ which made it a little tricky to climb up the ladder into the capsule but this was not a deal breaker. Location was good, 20-30 min walk into the centre of amsterdam. Would definitely stay here again!!

I would avoid this hotel if you’re looking for an authentic Amsterdam experience. Check in is at 3pm. Rather late…. And our room was finally ready at 4.15…. The check in was not a great experience. We were “sold” a much bigger room with a bath tub which is apparently an upgrade from our “deluxe” room. We agreed, checked out the “upgraded” room and walked straight back to reception. Do not bother with that “upgrade” and the staff made it seem that you’re getting such a good deal and that we shouldn’t tell the others a reception what great deal the receptionist was giving us. So we were sticking to our deluxe room…. Which wasn’t deluxe. It was still rather basic for this price, small, dated decor with no space to store any luggage. We decided to stick around…. Rather than leaving and find another hotel. Being on the first floor meant we heard thumping loud music from the restaurant below at around midnight. Nothing that some earplugs won’t fix. I’d rather stay right at a canal…. This didn’t seem like Amsterdam whatsoever. On check out the bill was much higher than we had quoted for. Looking at the bill now, we noticed that our room included breakfast…. Yet we still paid again as apparently it wasn’t. So, I am leaving this weekend trip rather frustrated. If you don’t want to have the same experience, look for another hotel closer to the centre. Would give it one star…. But I’m a nice person. So two stars is a gesture of good will.

La struttura si trova in prossimità del parco più importante della città di Amsterdam. Il bagno della nostra camera era molto piccolo ma nel complesso buono. La camera non era molto ben pulita. Il servizio alla reception cordiale e professionale, abbiamo anche utilizzato il servizio gratuito del deposito bagagli senza problemi. La posizione è abbastanza vicina al centro di Amsterdam e ben collegato con le principali linee del trasporto pubblico cittadino.

I had a very nice room facing the canal and the Rijks, with lots of light. Although it was a bit cold and the heating system was not working or the central heating was off. However, staff were nice enough to lend me radiator. They get very busy at reception and most times only one person is on shift so it gets quite slow to check-in/collect bags/pay food/etc — it also gets busy even if 2 people are attending. Some of the staff, when dropping luggage or collecting, where unfriendly. They forgot to clean my room even though I hanged the notice.

The hotel is modern and the staff are very friendly. They provide welcoming drinks, rooms are clean.

We decided to splurge on this 5 star hotel for a long anticipated family reunion. Unfortunately the experience was marred by a series of disappointments caused by utterly incompetent hotel staff. When I called ahead on the day of our arrival to request an early check-in the hotel rep. sternly informed me that I would have to pay a 120 Euro charge for the privilege! We are experienced travelers and never have we encountered such a demand. We took our chances regardless and decided to show up 2 hours early. Sure enough, our room was already ready and we were allowed to occupy it at no extra charge. Things really started to go south when a limousine that I had arranged for separate airport pickup of my daughter’s family through the concierge showed up at the airport unequipped with a baby car seat. I had expressly requested this when I booked the service. This was also specified in the booking confirmation sent by email to me by the concierge. The reaction I later got when I complained to the concierge was that I was not charged extra for the baby seat - as if this was the main issue! Furthermore, this was the first time that I was informed of such a charge, as no mention of this had been made in the email confirmation of the limo reservation which I originally received from the concierge. More importantly, what is more concerning is the utter indifference he showed for the safety of a guest’s infant grandchild. All that concerned him was the money angle to the failure. Things soon got worse. When we checked into our room we lifted the bed cover to discover several hairs and multiple red and yellow stains. Unbelievably, the chambermaid had neglected to change the bedsheets. This, in a 5 star hotel! After we called reception, staff was quickly sent to our room to change them. We never heard further from management about this. We later had dinner at Serre restaurant onsite and left the place hungry. The chef seems to focus on presentation and less on the reasonableness of the portions. My wife had a fish main course which was equivalent to 3 forkfuls. The minuscule dessert was pretty to look at but was grossly inadequate even for one person. The restaurant style is a throwback to the old Nouvelle Cuisine school. For the icing on the cake: a voucher for a round of drinks on the house at the rooftop bar that the guest services manager had kindly given me was bungled by the bar staff. When I arrived home I discovered a mysterious charge of 66 Euros by the Twenty-Third Floor Bar. The bar staff set new standards of incompetence in taking my voucher and charging me anyway.I had to call the hotel for credit but I am losing money anyway from the spread in exchange rates used by credit card companies. To be fair, the Superior View room was extremely spacious and comfortable with a magnificent view. The large pool and ample spa facilities were enjoyable and a significant convenience .
