My wife and I spent one night here on a Sunday at the start of October 2023. Upon arrival, we were assigned to a room on the third floor, but reaching that room, we found it was *right beside* the elevator and ice machine, directly the opposite of what my room preferences on Marriott request. So back down we went to the reception desk. The clerk there was apologetic about the assignment and amused that somehow we had been assigned exactly the opposite of what we had requested in a hotel that clearly was not full. Our next (and final) room was on the second floor, as far from the elevator and ice machine as possible. Good recovery! We gave them a 4.5 for service, with a half-point deduction for the initial bungle. Our room was large, with a sofa, desk, and large-screen TV. Bathroom was huge, as was the walk-in closet. Only ding here was that the big-screen TV was actually too large for its wallmount, making it impossible to pivot it far enough to be viewed by the far bed, and even a sharp viewing angle for the nearest bed. We gave the room a 4, mostly for its spaciousness. The mattress on the bed was adequate for my bad back without my traveling bedboard, so I gave it a 3.5. The location of the hotel, with easy off and back on for Route 1 was excellent. It is located a short distance from lots of Raleigh dining and shopping spots, so it is good. And it is far enough out of Raleigh that our departure Monday morning was unharried and easy. So location gets a 5. Breakfast Monday had small quiches that were tasty, a breakfast sandwich that was warm and good, juices, yogurts, and the like. The coffee was only average, however. This felt like a better breakfast than average, so we gave it a 4. Our one night cost us $126, which seems a good price for a nice room so near Raleigh. We gave it a 5 on value. So, to summarize: 4.5 for service, 4 for room, 3.5 for bed, 5 for location, 4 for breakfast, and 5 for value. That averages out to 4.3, so we assigned it a 4. We think this will become our new place to stay when visiting Raleigh.

This hotel is not for the faint of heart, or anyone with a sense of smell or cleanliness. The stench in the room was unbearable. It smelled like something had died in there and remained for a long while. The entry and hallways were filled with smoke and a group of smokers greeted me at the front entrance. The stained bedspreads were quite unwelcoming and certainly had not been given any attention in a while. There was a stain on the carpet that had the appearance of blood. The final straw that ensured my departure was the dead carcass of a roach lying on the dusty stove hood in the kitchen area. The desk clerk was MIA for approximately 20 minutes as I waited to speak with him about how dissatisfied I was. When he did appear, he spat out his tobacco juice in front of me and cursed at me, as well. He also told me there were no other available rooms, at which point I informed him that I wouldn’t stay in any room in the facility even if there was availability. Later I learned there was availability, but that I had been lied to. He also would not provide me any information on how I could get a refund or anyone I could speak with about the matter. I immediately escaped to the safety of my car and contacted Choice Hotels and filed a formal complaint. They were cooperative, but could not do much to help, as this place is independently owned and operated. I suggested they disassociate their company with this property. I tried to contact the hotel several times. Each time I would be disconnected. I tried calling from a friend’s phone and actually reached a human, but when I identified myself, I was placed on hold and then disconnected. Finally, four days into the horrible experience, I somehow reached a manager who spoke with me. She was kind and listened to the details of my ordeal and promptly offered a full refund, but not based on my dissatisfaction of the filthiness, but because the desk clerk had lied to me when he informed me there were no more available rooms. I would recommend this hotel as a place to be avoided. It is in at the end of a remote lane, and not even visible until you travel past industrial buildings and turn into a hidden cul-de-sac. It may be a location one may want to stay if desiring a remote place to practice some CSI skills. Just bring a bio-suit and do not plan to sleep during your stay. Good luck if you ever have to endure any time at this location!

This is a nice Quality Inn. For this level of hotel, it is excellent. The man at the desk was super friendly and even offered us bottles of water. The lobby and dining area have recently been updated and they looked great. the room was in nice condition as well, with a little extra area outside the bathroom for the microwave on a granite countertop. The most difficult thing was the turn to get onto the entrance of the hotel. It's JUST beyond the interstate and it was dark so we missed it and there is no left turn from the other lane so we had to go down a bit and make a U-turn.
