My parents are booked in this hotel as part of their France tour. I had a look at the reviews prior and called ahead to make sure they get a bright room, not at the ground floor as my mum does not feel comfortable with that. The first room they received had a window looking into another rooms window and the second a dingy courtyard, shared with the people next door. They did the change by themselves (both are in their eighties)! My call got completely ignored. So there was a slight improvement but I still wouldn't call that even close to a 4 star experience. I also called to organise a birthday surprise for my mum at breakfast and I stressed multiple times that it is the most important thing that she has a candle on her breakfast table, the cake is secondary. Yes, of course, no problem was that answer. I was happy to pay for all of that. Today was her birthday and: NOTHING!!!! No cake no candle. The lady turned 82 and this hotel was not capable of adding a candle to the breakfast table. That is beyond disappointing. I called again while she was having breakfast and I was promised they would bring her a candle. Guess what, they didn't. If they would have told me from the beginning that they can't do it, or it is too difficult, or they can't be bothered it would have been very helpful. That way I could have organised it with their travel guide. There are always options. Empty promises lead to reviews like this one. PS: for dinner they managed to ask my parents travel guide where my mum wants the cake, the travel guide asked my mum and they came up with a sad little cake and best wishes from the hotel!!!!!!!!! How rude is that. I wanted to pay for the service of surprising my mum with a cake and a candle. For the first time ever my mum had no candle for breakfast and I was not capable of organising a surprise. To sum it up: dark rooms, bad service, horrible breakfast, parking lot behind the hotel, highway in front.
