Hotel berhampiran Deep Creek Reserve, Auckland

We had a spa studio which was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and well equipped. The kitchenette had everything necessary and the room was a good size. The downside was the wifi - I was given a voucher which only allowed us to connect one device. The wifi kept disconnecting and the voucher expired very quickly - in fact I could not reconnect at 6am, having checked in at 5.00pm.

We spent the christmas holiday with two other families in the penthouse (room 3.1). We were all extremely pleased with the facilities and services at this brand new hotel. The living room was spacious and bright, and all rooms were sparkling clean. The hotel staff were friendly and attentive. The refreshing and stunning view overlooking the mountain and creek was a massive gift to our trip. The kitchen was fully equipped and everything was brand new. There was a bar and several restaurants just around the corner, all within walking distance.The atrium garden on the ground floor was also a highlight you won't want to miss. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back again. Highly recommended!

I have visited hotels every 3 weeks for a few months now and this is definitely the best one yet for the size and price. We were in the family room with our son and were very happy with the toiletries provided and the cleanliness. The beds were very comfortable which is a must, as someone with a disability. The staff were pleasant and professional. Shower could've been a tad cleaner overall, but I'll certainly be back again soon. Thank you :)

Avoid this place like the plague. I booked the “suite cabin” for three nights and although the bed was very comfortable and the reception team were really nice there is nothing else going for this “Hotel”. From the moment i stepped into the room i was hit with the overwhelming smell of musty air. I immediately opened the A/C cover to find what appeared to be 3 years of dust buildup. I reported to the reception and was advised that it would be cleaned in the morning and to my surprise, upon returning to the room at 5:30pm it had not been done and the room had not been serviced at all. The room was dirty with mould around the bathroom skirting, dirty hand/finger prints all over the walls, all of the crockery/cutlery and glassware had to be washed as they were all still un-clean, one if the bath towels had makeup on it, the a/c was filthy, the coffee table still had sticky stuff all over it from a spilled drink and there were spider web’s hanging from the bedside lamps. When i sent an email to ask if the rooms were serviced daily (as my room was not cleaned at all) i was told that i had the only key for the room, hence why the room was not cleaned, and was asked to leave the room unlocked so that the room could be cleaned. I’m sorry, what?.. The internet is the worst ever, constantly dropping out and for the three minutes that you do have a connection you cant even load a 1 minute Youtube video as it will just keep stopping, and then eventually drop out where you will have to reconnect again.. ughhh. The bar (on the hotel ground’s overlooking the Pool) was apparently a completely separately owned business and way over priced. A chicken Caesar Salad will set you back nearly $30 and a beer will cost you $15. These are prices that you would pay in a 5-Star hotel not a shabby motel bar. The owner of the bar was outside drinking with his “buddies” and when the bar had just closed 2 minutes earlier, and I attempted to get one drink, i was told that i could not be served as the bar had closed. I asked why the gentleman standing next to me was able to order a round of drinks for he and his friends, i was told that “he is the owner”. Righto! Great look Mr. Owner!! Stay away from this place, there is plenty of better places in the area and really good air bnb’s which is where i ended up.

I’m back at the Spencer again, because, inexplicably, my head office still chooses to book us here for work visits. I hope our rooms are free. So, this is a multi story hotel on Auckland’s North Shore. We as a nation are just coming out of a pandemic which decimated our tourism industry. Our national borders are about to fully open for the first time since Covid started. I last stayed here in 2017. My review of my last visit is a long and detailed description of the myriad failures of this hotel to meet its most basic expectations. Yet here I am again. I’ll keep it brief this time. Nothing about the hotel has changed since I was last here in 2017, except the staff. That and there’s currently no bar or restaurant due to ‘renovations’. So, room service is a microwave meal and over priced bottles of whatever alcohol you might choose from the limited selection available. Also, as I came back to my room, after being out all day, and finding my room unserviced, not visited by house keeping at all, I phoned housekeeping to ask why they hadn’t visited. It seems they don’t service your room until you’ve been here 3 days, apparently due to lack of staff, because of covid, but last time I was here, before covid, they didn’t service my room either. However, despite a lack of staff, who can’t service my room, because they don’t exist, due to covid or work visas, if I found an extra $35 a day, they COULD find some staff to make up my room. Which let’s face it fellow travellers, is a pretty basic expectation, to have your room serviced, when you are paying for hotel accommodation. But not at the Spencer, on Byron. So, dejected, thoroughly defeated by the utter indifference of a large, premium (for no good reason at all, except maybe, potentially, a nice view) Auckland hotel, to its valuable clients, corporate guests of a local company who give them a decent amount of repeat business, because the options locally, within walking distance of our head office are limited. Or frankly any human being who walked through the door, simply looking for accomodation somewhat approximating the amount they were expected to pay for it. I ordered one of the crappy microwave meals they called room service for 7:15pm. The only member of staff on duty arrived at my door at 7:05pm with my frozen microwave room service meal and over priced bottle of wine, in an expensive Auckland hotel, having travelled up in the lift, and walked through the hotel corridors, not wearing a mask. I had a few choice words about her hotel, hotel management, reassuring her it wasn’t her fault. I told her of my previously unsatisfactory experiences with the hotel and how now it’s inexplicably worse, rather than better, while reminding her it wasn’t her fault. That’s before I talk about the unsatisfactory, uncomfortable rooms, tired furniture, slow wifi, and frankly half ****d, and sub standard everything. On the single plus side. I was very happy with my stay at the Carnmore Hotel Takapuna. I stayed 1 nights at the end of my trip to New Zealand. I arrived very early by bus. I was dropped off a block from the hotel. Ajin was wonderful. He allowed me to store my bag until my room was ready. He also recommended a nice coffee shop that was within easy walking distance. The beach is 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The downtown is relaxed. It has cute shops and plenty of services. Easy access to Auckland by transit. The room was large with a kitchette, a huge window and a small deck. The bathroom was smooth dark, stone tile. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. Krystal was at the front desk in the morning. She was very friendly and helpful, when I asked for directions. Second stay in 3 months. Service was great at reception and the restaurant. Food was exceptional. My room had everything I needed - comfy bed, good shower, clean and spacious. I was well rested for early morning flight and caught the free shuttle. Thank you for a great stay.

After 20 hours of traveling we missed our connecting flight and had to find accommodation for the night. The Jet Park Hotel staff took our call and made things easy including arranging for the shuttle to come to the airport to collect us. Our room was lovely with huge, comfortable beds, a refreshing shower and yummy meals from room service we couldn't of ended a stressful day better. Would not hesitate to use again as nothing was a problem with the staff and the room was relaxing, clean and peaceful.
