The Hotel @ Tharabar Gate

The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, but dated. This hotel doesn't have a river view, but it has a pool and the compounds felt like an oasis away from the dusty roads. The restaurant had a decent selection of Burmese dishes, and the breakfast was pretty good too. The relatively late checkout time of 12pm also meant that it was possible to squeeze in another morning of visit to temples and wash up back in the hotel before heading to my next destination. Staff were friendly and helpful.

I really enjoyed this hotel and really glad I booked it. The location was perfect and central to all the best temples and pagodas. I had a travel snafu that rendered me to miss my connecting flight to Myanmar and having to check-in a day and a half later, and the hotel was gracious and flexible enough to accommodate my delay. Check-in was smooth, and the room is absolutely wonderful. It was large, and the hotel grounds and pool are beautiful and clean. My room had a little patio with a couple of chairs to help make tea a wonderful start to my morning. The bathroom and shower were clean and the water pressure was good. Hot water was plentiful. There is even a mini fridge to cool my drinks and preserved the fruits that I brought. Breakfast is served from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM, so even if you have a sunrise hot air balloon flight, you'll still make it on time for a hot breakfast, which consisted of bread, rice, sausage, sticky rice, tea leaf salad, soup, various fruits, seasoned veggies, fried stuff, and stir-fry noodles. I found out on my second day there that you could ask for eggs on request. The hotel staff was warm, friendly, and accommodating, and there was always a smile on everyone's faces. Wi-Fi was free and relatively fast, which did the trick as I had been lacking Internet connection for a couple of days. I loved this hotel and everything it had to offer, including a check out time of 12 PM. I highly recommend booking here if you'll be in Bagan. Best hotel in the best location possible!

We rent three delux garden rooms. Its a family gathering trip. I have stayed there before too. For the room, spa , restaurant everything everything is right. But during our stay, electricity often cut. And wifi a little no stable as well. But the staff's hospitality and spa lady's massage made us forgot these difficulties during our stay. Definitely should visit to this hotel's spa.

Lovely place to stay. Very quiet, lovely rooms surrounded by gardens. Nice restaurant, staff helpful and friendly. I had a tour guide for visiting the pagodas and we did this mostly in the morning as it was so hot. Would definitely stay here again.

The service is amazing and the staff are super nice! I really enjoyed my stay, I had a very pleasant time. Min Min is a great concierge, he will get you anything you want, he has a great attitude and is really sweet, he is amazing! I really recommend staying here, you will get a unique experience and be located at the heart of old Bagan! Just beautiful

We had a package tour from Balloons over Bagan which included a 2 night stay at the hotel. The hot air balloon over Bagan was truly magical and Gavin the pilot was very informative and experienced. the hotel is good and has large rooms and is clean and has a beautiful reception and garden area. the hotel needs a bit more through cleaning as more visitors flock. The trip was made incredible by Driver MinMin who works at the hotel and was our diver cum guide for the duration of the stay. Very very professional , extremely courteous, speaks good english and is excellent driver and always keep the conversation flowing. Do ask for him when you are the hotel next. amazing visit .
