Pennyhill Park Hotel and Spa

This was our fourth stay at Pennyhill Park and, once again, we had a wonderful time. We were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome the moment we arrived and this level of hospitality continued throughout our stay. Every member of staff we came into contact with was exceptional. I have to give a special mention to the barman, who was super fun, made any cocktail you asked for and they were fabulous. The spa is not only spotless but incredibly well maintained. Such a lovely environment and never overcrowded. A big thank you to all the wonderful staff for making our wedding anniversary so special yet again. We're already looking forward to our next visit!

The Landsdowne room, which is recommended to wheelchair users, is accessed from an external entrance perpendicular to a very steep slope. I use a dual-motor Quantum powerchair which is certified for slopes of up to 13.2% (UK building regs for wheelchair ramps specify 8.3%). My chair couldn’t get any traction on this slope at all when the ground was wet, and still couldn’t get enough traction to move when the ground was dry. We only managed with my wife pushing hard from the back. When facing or leaving the external entrance to the corridor, the slope translates into a camber which tilts the powerchair to an extent that feels dangerous and very unnerving. I would not recommend Landsdowne to anyone who uses a standard powerchair or electric wheelchair, even though it is ultimately just about manageable with active assistance from an able-bodied carer. I think that the entrance would be actively dangerous, or at least unnavigable, for an unaccompanied powerchair user, or for anyone using a three-wheel folding scooter. Manual chair owners may well be fine, as might a super-powerful (Tramper- level) powerchair. This is all a great shame because in every other respect the Landsdowne ticks all the accessibility boxes. The (gorgeous) room is very large and it’s easy to wheel anywhere. There’s plenty of turning room in the corridor to the bathroom, which has a lowered sink, wheel-in/fitted chair shower, loo fittings and again plenty of turning space. And then the hotel itself is eminently navigable, with wide corridors and super-helpful, friendly staff. If the access issue was fixed, Pennyhill Park would genuinely be the best option in the home counties for a powerchair user wanting to stay overnight and eat at a Michelin-starred restaurant. Latymer is absolutely fantastic: inventive and playful cooking from a chef who has an incredible feel for mixing sweet and savoury, and for maximising the umami hit of vegetables. It does much more than tick boxes for the tyre people. Again, service was exemplary, thoughtful and accommodating: I was given plenty of room for my chair to recline between courses and the service was paced up as requested, coming in at less than two hours for seven courses plus extras. Breakfast was fine with a formidable buffet choice (one benefit of the scale of Pennyhill’s operation, this is far from boutique), a well-executed FEB, and very helpful staff. We didn’t investigate the spa.

Really disappointing. This hotel is just not a 5 star hotel. The rooms are nice but the pipes make a heck of a noise all through the night and anybody walking in a room above you sounds like a herd of elephants. Worst of all the breakfast was terrible! We had to send our cooked breakfast back twice because they were completely unable to make scrabbled eggs. The atmosphere inside the hotel is just not what one would expect at a Manor House stay. Everything is very brightly lit and just feels very corporate. All in all - it is very overpriced and just not the level of luxury that you would expect.

I had to attend a one week conference and chose this hotel after reading a number of reviews. I have to say that it was fantastic and I enjoyed my stay here immensely. The staff were very courteous and professional, the rooms very clean, and over all a very pleasant stay. Would definitely suggest hotel.

My partner and I stayed at Pennyhill Park for my birthday and had the most amazing experience from start to finish. The spa is absolutely stunning and the atmosphere is so relaxing - it really felt like a proper escape. A special shoutout to Ellie, who went out of her way to make sure our stay felt extra special and truly went above and beyond for us and also Adam at the bar who was so friendly, attentive and made our evening drinks feel really personal. Quite the mixologist! It’s rare to find such genuine, thoughtful service these days and both of them made our visit unforgettable. We’re already planning our next trip back, thank you for making my birthday so perfect!

A Perfect Birthday Celebration at Pennyhill! My husband and I came to celebrate my birthday at Pennyhill, one of our favourite places—and once again, it exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Ellie at reception. She was absolutely wonderful, even helping us to our room and carrying our bags, which was such a thoughtful touch. The whole team was incredibly attentive and made us feel so special throughout our stay. The spa is always a highlight for me, and this time it was made even more memorable as we were upgraded to the beautiful Lingfield room. It had a lovely view overlooking the spa, which added an extra touch of luxury to our stay. Thank you, Pennyhill, for making my birthday celebration so special—we can’t wait to return!
