Our pool villa was nice, tidy and extremely quiet.
The pool connected to our villa was well maintained and the water clean.
The waiters and cleaning staff were very kind.
Breakfast and dinner quality was below average for Bali standards.
But overall it was a disappointing 3 nights stay for the price of 250€/night and here’s why:
Started with the check in, as I arrived alone first by motorbike. My wife followed a few minutes later with taxi for our luggage.
When I arrived alone the people at the front desk showed an attitude with “what am I looking for?” with no intention to show any kindness.
Once my wife arrived there was also no greetings to her. Yes we got a welcome drink but overall very cold handled.
The whole check in process was just briefing of an introduction of services that can be additionally booked - against payments and additional 21% service charges which at every chance very important to mention.
When I checked regarding airport shuttle the lady gave me a price of 700.000 Rupiah + Service charge. I asked whether they use one of the nice hotel cars which were parked in front of the lobby. She denied and answered that they will not use these cars but arrange a third party company to drive us - means, they would call a taxi for us. How nice. We arranged privately a driver with a nice SUV that drove us for 250.000.
Our booking included one yoga class per day. We learned that it only applies to the 7am class. The afternoon class must be paid (☝️don’t forget +21% service charge).
4 small bottles of basic still water with around 200ml each were placed on the kitchen counter.
For the staff it was important to mention during check in that it would be daily refilled but if need more, we must order and pay.
It’s a joke, 2 adults with 1 liter of water per day.
In any other hotel I’ve stayed, regular water bottles are free of charge and will be supplied as much as you need.
For my opinion is a tourist trap and they make you pay for many things and this way too expensive.
The hotel is so remote located that guest must fully rely on the hotel (transport as well as meals and drinks) - they don’t have any competition around and they like to see people showing up with a car or motor bike to handle some stuff themselves.
The next convenient store is 3km away…
From the check in to the escort to our villa it was one message: we can appreciate that Royal Purnama allows us to stay here but they appreciate our MONEY.
During our time in Bali we’ve stayed at an Airbnb pool villa, at Fairfield and at Indigo.
No matter whether it was a home stay, 4 or 5 star hotel, we were treated with a warm hearted welcome, hospitality, smiling faces and appreciation for our stay (+free water 😅) - unfortunately we experienced the complete opposite at Royal Purnama.
As we booked the seafood dinner already in advance, we participated at the first evening. Food was okay.
Atmosphere very nice due to live music.
However, with all these impressions during check in, we had no further joy to join any other activities with this hotel.
Luckily we were somewhat independent due to the motorbike that we could spend our days and meals outside.
