The building is in an amazing location. Right in the Gothic Quarter, maybe 15 minute gentle walk to Las Ramblas and all of the amazing restaurants in El Born. The apartment itself was spotless, a good size and the bed comfortable. Unfortunately the management company really lets it down. We arrived in Barcelona at 3pm and after a speedy airport transfer arrived at the building within half an hour. We didn’t get into our apartment until about 7-7:30pm due to the complete lack of communication from our hosts. The building is keypad/ app entry. There is nobody there to meet you. We received no communication ahead of our arrival as to what we should expect, no door code, no room number. Nothing. There’s a couple of phone numbers on the side of the building. We tried these several times to no response. Luckily, we had booked our stay through Love Holidays who helped us get to the bottom of the situation. We were put on high priority as we literally couldn’t get in the building! Eventually, after several attempts from LH, they managed to get into contact with the building management. We were given a door code. Excellent. We got into the lobby! Then after much back and forth we told them we still didn’t know what room we were supposed to be in or how to even enter. Then after a few hours Ainb got in touch with us, asked us to pay the local taxes and upon proof will send over room details. We got all of that, used the keypad on the apartment door (there’s also an app you can use but that didn’t work for us) and got into our room. As mentioned above, the room was clean, the bed comfy and I guess it was well enough equipped. Our room was a little rough round the edges- plug socket in the bathroom was left on the counter rather than in the wall where it should be, the laminate flooring wasn’t laid properly (gaps between each slat), bedside lamps didn’t work, the oven (which looked brand new!) didn’t work either.. I absolutely loved Barcelona and I want to return, but I just wouldn’t stay here again. Not only is Ainb completely disorganised and can’t send check in information in advance, they just don’t seem to care about upkeeping the place.
