Unique review as a lot of right and few things wrong. First the week before Christmas was chancy (due to snow fall) but what a great week to go and the luck of the snow gods was with us…The really good is the location, ski in ski out cannot be beat. The ski rental is on site which was great and they deliver your equipment to the the Hyatt’s ski valet… The ski valet service was first class and a game changer, they keep your equipment and it is effortless to get out and go ski. Lifts and ski school are all right there… A+. The hotel staff was great and early in the season everyone is all smiles. The not so great was we were a group of adults , the hotel is “kid central. Clearly Hyatt has gone after the family (which is great) but, as an example, this was the first time I have ever enjoyed an adult beverage and next to me were several little ones coloring in the bar… Just be prepared so you are not surprised. I am by no means anti kids, but sometimes it is nice to just be an adult… Mornings were tough as kids running the halls at 7 a.m. was not the most fun… I think adult areas may not be a bad idea for Hyatt to consider… The biggest let down was the quality of the food… It was average at best. The breakfast buffet is good (pricey at $47 per person but noting in BC is inexpensive) but dinner and bar food for lunch was below average. The bar food was plain and simple trying to be too clever and it failed… What I mean is a flatbread was exotic cheese verse normal, weird garnishes, instead of something as simple as a margarita flatbread… Dinner was equally as unsatisfying with a fillet that tasted more like it came from a chain restaurant, poorly prepared and almost flavorless and from a park Hyatt. At the price point asked for, you should expect better and it was not… We discovered a few places close by that were great to eat at so if location and ski valet and rental are your priority , this is your place… if food quality is important, not so much.
