Beautiful looking building situated in the quaint town of Bellagio, Lake Como. The hotel is conveniently situated close to the ferry port with very little walking distance. The hotel itself looks grand and lovely, it shocks you to notice it is a three star hotel at face value at least, but we will dive into the star rating later. The hotel has a pizzeria, gelato shop and a restaurant across the road right on the water edge with amazing views, for hotel guests only. The hotel did have a decent pool for hotel guests so we made use of that. We were in room 30. The room was dated and required some modern tlc. That didn't bother me too much initially. However, the bedding cover had the consistency of a dated curtain, not my taste but I guess I shouldn't judge. The bed itself however required a review on its own. The bed was so hard and uncomfortable that even the father bear in the Goldilocks story would toss and turn. It was utterly dreadful. A cheap 1 star hostel bed would have been better. Completely unacceptable. The bathroom was nice however upon arrival there was a slight drain smell. The shower was ok. The AC in the room could not be controlled. It has to be controlled by the hotel reception. This was pretty ridiculous and dated. We requested the AC to be lowered but they didn't do it. We visited Bellagio for one night with average temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius so we needed to be cooled. The dining experience was ok. We reserved a table and were giving a beautiful table looking out to the lake and mountains. Very picturesque. The dining staff however were not very attentive at all and had a vibe of not wanting to be there. There was a vibe of stress amongst them which surprised me as it wasn't busy with customers nor were there difficult people to deal with. It did start to rain and we requested to move further in which they allowed us. Another couple requested the same however the waiter was in denial it was raining. Which I thought was quite hilarious and ridiculous. The food was nice but lacked some flavour, I got the salmon. Perhaps that is partly my ignorance of Italian food. The tiramisu was disappointing as well, absolutely zero coffee flavour. It was creamy which was nice but I didn't just want creamy textures to ingest. Upon waking up, the drain smell in the bathroom was overwhelming and awful. The breakfast they offered was of poor choice and quality. I didn't even bother eating or drinking. It was mainly sweet with little option for savoury. I would recommend spending more money if you can to have a better quality experience. This hotel is lucky to maintain its third star. We were so disappointed as this was supposed to be a nice return trip to Bellagio 2 years later from our first visit.
