Bellevue Rheinhotel

We stayed here for Christmas as part of a coach group. This family run hotel is very well situated right on the Rhine with superb views and direct access to the charming village of Boppard. The hotel was clean, the room comfortable & quiet and the food & service superb. The staff were courteous, helpful and polite at all times. I can thoroughly recommend this hotel, staying here was a joy.

We stayed for three nights in one of their apartments which are a short walk from the hotel proper. Our apartment was roomy, with a huge bathroom, and comfortable bed. The view of the river from our top floor unit was great and we spent quite a bit of time watching the river traffic, including the ferry that runs across the river nearly below our room. Breakfast was good and the staff there were always helpful and friendly. The guest card that allows train travel within the tourist zone is a great feature, we used it to visit Oberwesel and St. Goar. The location is great for walking around the town of Boppard. If you'd like a great river view with a bit more privacy than a hotel room then I recommend looking at the apartments they offer.

We have previously said things like.........."superb public areas, good food and lovely staff"..........but, oh dear, what a sad decline. We stayed at Christmas and found the Belle Vue a shadow of its former self - maybe they were just overwhelmed because they could easily fill the rooms over Christmas - but there was a definite feeling that the family management had become complacent.........and, in fact quite dismissive of Customers. On 3 of our 6 nights we were herded upstairs to a totally characterless conference room for our evening meal - certainly not what you expect when you book into a hotel of this quality...........especially since the service upstairs was dreadful. The staff were really quite miserable but with some of the "sharp" words they were receiving from the management its surprising that they stayed. The quality of the evening meals also, unfortunately fell well short of those we have previously enjoyed - in fact the only real "bright light" about the hotel over the 6 days was the lady who ran the restaurant at breakfast time.............always cheerful and with a lovely smile. Whilst we have previously said that we would return to the Belle Vue time and again, not any more. A real shame

Was part of an English coach load for Christmas. Was given wrong room initially. Staff had very limited English even though the trip was a regular booking. Dinner food was very limited. No choice. Turkey serviced twice as was veal. Breakfast was good. Pool is very good. Overall felt like second class citizens compared to the German visitors. No tea/coffee facilities in the room, so apart from breakfast we were charged for tea and coffee all the time, even after dinner. Not a pleasant experience .On last night dinner was paused for over an hour, and we were all told to be quiet whilst the entertainment of a pianist and violinist played. Not a nice way to treat guests.

We travelled to this hotel for a 4 night stay. The hotel itself is very nice and so are most of the staff but i certainly would not class this a 4 star hotel, the food was abysmal, at breakfast time there was no bacon ready no cornflakes the eggs were like rubber and on one morning there was no milk for the cereals so they were using carnation milk yuck, when I mentioned this they were taking the milk jugs off the tables and pouring that into the urn, I even went to reception and complained but to no avail, at dinner there was only one starter option 2 main options are one desert option, again not good for what is supposed to be a 4 star hotel, the room was cleanish the bed was comfortable but we should not have to be asking the hotel for toilet paper roll in the room after returning from an excursion and would not stay there again.

Stayed here as part of a coach holiday. What a beautiful hotel. Classy and opulent in La Belle Epoch style, immaculately clean, spacious rooms and a really lovely experience. Food was excellent too with table service at dinner with friendly, professional waiting staff. Buffet breakfast with great choice. Located next to the river with good walks and a few minutes into the small town with shops, restaurants etc. As it was December when we stayed the hotel and outside areas were decorated for Christmas making this a great festive experience. We have stayed at many hotels over the years and this is up there with the best. Highly recommended.

Old-school formerly grand hotel. The hotel is a remnant of elegant bygone days (emphasis on bygone). It is a bit tatty, and lacks services such as a bell service (no help with baggage, numerous steps to front desk), no convenient parking with no valet (but garage in walking distance). There was leftover mayonnaise and chocolate from the prior guest in our mini fridge (yuck). Otherwise the room was very clean. The hotel mainly served boat or bus tours. Generally the hotel and restaurant seemed understaffed. The restaurant staff in particular were working extremely hard serving large groups. Gorgeous view and great location.

We were on a 2 week trip exploring the Rhine from Cologne to Heidelberg & looking for a few places to base ourselves of varying styles so settled upon Boppard & quickly found the Bellevue at a price we felt was reasonable for a Thursday & Friday evening. The 3 nights previous were spent at an ultra-modern business hotel on the outskirts of Cologne so the contrast in arriving at the river-front hotel was just what we wanted as our introduction to the Rhine. We were immediately charmed by the hotel & the fact that it's been run by the same family for around 150 years as the portraits adorning the original public spaces suggest & the reception desk & elevator alone make the hotel worth checking out. We took a late lunch & drinks on arrival on the river served by the stand-alone bar out the front of the hotel & whilst service wasn't too prompt & our bread order was forgotten it was generally a lovely introduction to our stay. We were able to park across two separate stays along the river just along from the hotel at a reasonable rate between 8am & 6pm but you do need coins for the parking machine. Our room was situated on the 4th floor overlooking the town at the rear of the hotel with a balcony & whilst the room was dated in style it was clean with good quality bed linen, towels, etc. We used the spa facility & were the only people there & again, whilst dated in style it was perfect for the hotel & our needs. Breakfast was a joy & taken in a delightful restaurant overlooking the river at a very reasonable cost. We did have to take breakfast on Saturday in an alternative location due to the number of guests in the main room & whilst it wasn't enjoyable it was still great & we had a wonderful server. Boppard itself wasn't quite as charming as I hoped but proved a good base & on the Friday there was local wine festival on the main square which was joyous & made for a memorable evening. In summary we loved our stay at the Bellevue, the traditional style & hospitality offered truly played a large part in our Rhine Experience & we are so glad we chose to spend some time there & only wished we could have stayed a few nights longer.

We arrived very early in the morning, we were met by a friendly and helpful receptionist. The hotel is situated right on the river Rhein. We stayed in an apartment which was very clean and comfortable, with a river view. The town itself was not very big but it had all lot packed into it. Lots of restaurants and shops.
