First thing to say is that we had a lovely stay at Maison d’hotes Alma & the host Ines was fantastic. It is quiet and very peaceful and you do feel like you’re in a real French home from home. There are a few things that you might want to consider though before deciding if it’s the place for you. The house has a cooling system so downstairs is lovely and cool when you come in from outside but as it isn’t a full air conditioning system, the rooms upstairs still got quite hot - especially as Bordeaux was experiencing something of a heatwave when we visited. Secondly it is in a very quiet area. That is lovely if you are looking for somewhere peaceful but if you have any mobility issues, it’s good to be aware that the tram station is about 10-15 mins away & the nearest bus stop about 5 mins but only for certain routes. You could walk to the centre in about 20 mins so if you don’t have any issues, that would be perfect. It is close to the Capucin market which is an awesome experience and made us feel really envious of French life. Breakfast is simple but lovely with fresh pastries, bread, cheese and yoghurt and Ines went out of her way to get us some “Dune Blanches” which we had said we wanted to try when we arrived. The little terrace where you can eat breakfast is a true paradise. All in all a lovely stay and a great base for our stay in Bordeaux. One last thing - there’s no sign or name on the door so we spent a little while trying to find the right house. It’s number 7!
