Bourke Riverside Motel

I can only guess by the attitude that the bloke managing the place was the owner. No one would employ a person like this in hospitality. He initially had a go at us for not parking in the centre of the bay. We then went to our rooms, which were Spacious and very old with holes under the carpets, enamel missing from big sections of the bath/shower, and water that required two taps to be turned on to get hot. The bed was comfortable. Another couple with kids then arrived late with a trailer after having to travel around bad weather in Sydney or that area. They have travelled all the way from Victoria that day. They were abused for not letting him know that they had a trailer, even though there was more than enough parking in the area for the trailer. He then kept abusing them until finally, after being told that he was very rude, he called the police and had them evicted from their rooms at 8:30 at night. Where does the family go in Bourke after 8:30 pm between Chris**as and New Year? Absolutely disgusting behaviour, and I am really not impressed with the way the police allowed this to happen, as they must know of the reviews that this place has. They had done nothing wrong and never lost their tempers but were very tired. I would never return there. I have learnt my lesson and will read reviews before booking into anywhere.

BEWARE. This may be eclectic, the buildings dated back to last century but so is the cleanliness of the curtains, windows and the room, in general. The curtains with holes, missing hooks and dirty. The toilet moves, the skirting and windows sills filthy, I have pictures to prove it. My husband and I were undecided, if the bedlinen had marks..... We were disgusted.

Very expensive for what you got... A little tired and out dated curtains falling down ... Bed was great ... Parking not easy access to unit with bags .. safety very evident ... Pub up there road walking distance 100 m ... Reception very pleasant ... Probably choose somewhere else next time

We had the best overnight stay at Bourke Riverside Motel. We had a long drive and had a number of sleepless nights before we arrived in Bourke. Service was fantastic! We stayed in the original 1875 hotel wing which was really different and quirky. The room was huge, the bed was amazing and the location was quiet offering an uninterrupted 12 hour sleep. The grounds were beautiful and Cookie the house cat was really friendly. Couldn’t recommend this facility highly enough.

Worst customer service ever experienced manager shouldn't be working in hospitality. Rooms are a disgrace and not up to standard. What a dump. Nothing like the photos on line. Drive an hour on and stay at Cobar

Shocking Experience. Booked a Standard King or Queen Room which was supposed to have a garden view and be 30sqm. What we got was a smallish room across the road from the main motel. No pool or minibar, as advertised. It was old and filthy; we didn't even have the courage to have a shower.

We had room 12. Ideal for only one person.No room for extra bag. Everything old. Minimal room either side of bed. Lacking hooks to hang things. Very small fridge not allowing us to freeze our ice blocks Very ordinary for price we paid. Nothing like the photo seen on bookings. Com

I found it difficult to find accommodation in Bourke. For a start, there wasn't all that much on offer and prices were high. And then TripAdvisor reviews were not the best for any place. In the end I settled on Riverside where I booked a standard room. To my delight, we were upgraded to a deluxe room in the Parish House across the road. This place was huge, and it had all the comforts you could wish for, including a fly-net enclosed verandah. There was a single bed in the "entrance hall" and a king bed plus two single beds in the main room which was presided over by a large portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The furniture was a mix of modern and period. It was a bit of a track to the bathroom (no, it's not outside, it just seemed to be a long walk from your bed at night) which was okay, though nothing to rave about as much as the room. I probably appreciated the size of the accommodation because we had stayed in somewhat cramped quarters the night before, and it is not really something I would book for a one-night stay for two people, but definitely for a longer stay, or a family, if you can afford it. It's in a quiet location, too, and you can easily walk into town and, more importantly, to the pub for a feed.

Mine host was a little rattled when we arrived. Problems with staffing and bookings so wasn’t in the best of moods. Old homestead/Cobb & Co buildings with creaky floorboards and old style furnishings. Quite quaint actually. Bed was comfortable and rooms were clean and tidy. The pool was delightful on a hot afternoon and after driving a few hundred kilometres to get there, it was most welcome. No sign of mine host the next more at check out so dropped the key and left. Experience was not that overly cordial.
