We stayed at the Gibraltar on a Saturday night to Sunday night. The room was the least expensive room but was spacious and luxurious. I didn't find it an issue to be overlooking the car park - it was quiet and our room had a thick hedge screening the room balcony from the car park and we had no issues with noise from there. We did have issues with noise from a group who congregated in the room next door and who kept us awake when we were trying to sleep, but this was dealt with very promptly by staff. The bed was very comfortable too. Check in was very simple, with staff friendly and helpful. We had booked into the restaurant for dinner on Saturday night and found it to be a very pleasant dining experience. It was quite pricey, but the food was delicious and was well worth it. We went to the bar next door after dinner - we had been hoping to get the jazz musician, who is apparently a regular there on Friday and Saturday nights, but he had called in sick or something, so perhaps next time ... We were surprised that the bar didn't offer hot drinks, but hubby enjoyed a beer. We didn't stay very long, because it was quite cold. Although the bar has an open fireplace, it's angled to face the dance floor area. The bulk of the seating is along one wall when you come in, so you miss out on any kind of warmth from the fire. This is an area of the hotel that could probably do with a re-vamp to make it more comfortable for patrons. The weak spot for this place is breakfast. It's buffet style on the weekends and a la carte on week days. However, what's on offer is the same and the selections are quite limited and not what you'd expect from a luxury hotel. Essentially it's all fried food - bacon, sausages, hash browns and baked beans. Plus a limited selection of pastries and I think I saw weat bix as well, plus some melon type fruit in glasses. There's no real catering for people who don't want a whole lot of fried food and no barista coffee or even hot chocolate. All of what's on offer you can get when you stay in a country pub. I was honestly surprised - I would have expected a lot better and to have more variety, especially considering the prices charged to stay here. I assume the hotel doesn't pay for a chef for breakfast, only for dinner. Next time we come, we won't pay to have breakfast here. Despite the meh breakfast experience it was a lovely stay and we would most definitely come back and stay again.

staff amazing! breakfast amazing! Cocktails amazing! Gardens amazing! However the rooms completely disappointing! I am not sure how this hotel can be considering luxury? Its interior is worn and requires updating . We stayed in the Forrest suite room 120. Nothing like the photos . The mattress sunk inwards when we slept, my legs were higher than by body when laying down, that’s how bad the mattress was . The roll out bed which I was told had a proper matress sunk inwards. PowerPoints did not work . Our electric towel rail, the cord was taped with duck tape. The sofa and arm chairs was so old and worn , with chipping timber frames’ skiriting boards and paint was chipping. Lighting was so dim No air conditioning and it was a 30 degree weekend . I understand the website states rooms would not have the same view, but a view of bush and shrubs is not a garden view. The shutters in the room is old and some were broken The hall ways are so worn and floor boards creaked Room service menu is on an A4 paper with 8 selection of meals Spa bath tub which was also a shower was slippery to stand on Couldn’t order drinks or food at the pool This place is falling apart, thankfully friendly staff and beautiful garden (which isn’t as big as the photos) Disappointed

eppers Manor house (formerly Mt Broughton) is located in Sutton Forest in the pitcturesque Southern Highlands. This region is home to beautiful landscapes and features such parks, historic sites, golf courses, walking tracks and plenty of boutique shops to wander around. There’s plenty of wineries too and numerous spots for events such as weddings. Located 90 minutes from Sydney, it’s great for a short little getaway. We did just this, and found that staying in Peppers Manor House was relaxing and very much country living. The accommodation is on a rural property and historically was once home to Charles Throsby, a pioneer sent by Governor Macquarie to Australia. Subsequently owned by a number of families following this, the site is reflective of the families that once owned it, with beautiful sitting rooms ang games rooms and it is a huge heritage mansion, with extra blocks converted into accommodation. They’ve kept the site in wonderful condition, becoming part of the Peppers group in 1993 and the hotel now has refurbished rooms, yet original character to the main spaces and the groundskeeper has certainly kept the grounds and golf course lush. On site is Katers Restaurant, named after a family that also once owned the property, There, you can get a fine dining style dinner. On our visit we had the pan fried barramundi, served with thyme and garlic roasted carrots, lemon wilted spinach and salsa verde. Nicely cooked and a very generous portion. In addition the Kilroy grass fed sirloin was also cooked to request and a wonderful dish, served with sautéed garlic kipfler potatoes, butter green beans and red wine jus. The dinner was excellent. The restaurant also hosts breakfast, and on our visit was a buffet, complete with fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, toast, tea, coffee and hot food. You can also get drinks from the cute little Nook bar and enjoy them in the sitting room or games rooms or even by the fireplace. Book your room of preference, the Highland Queen Rooms, Highland King Rooms and the Elizabeth Broughton Suite (in the original master bedroom) or in the adjacent building; Garden Wing Deluxe, Garden Wing Suites. We were in a garden wing and rooms were a decent size, with a couch, desk, fridge and small tv (they do need new larger televisions for guests to take advantage of relaxing in the rooms. The bathroom has a bath and Apelles bathroom products to use. In these rooms the outlook country views of the garden. On site there’s a golf course, tennis courts and a swimming pool. In the main hall theres a fireplace and piano as well as connecting games rooms with a pool table. We made use of this and had an enjoyable and fun time. We booked our trip as a ‘crazy golf’ deal which was really cost efficient, since it included the room, 2 games of golf, a drink each and breakfast for $280. We stayed here for 6 nights and enjoyed every part of our stay despite the rainy weather. The 2 bedroom apartment was perfect for all our needs. Easy walk to town and restaurants. Short drive to nearby toens and great sites. The apartment was clean and the bed was very comfortable
