Hotel berhampiran The Plywood Patch Bridge, Brantford

I have booked a room for one night on June 17, 2022, at Comfort Inn located in Brantford, Ontario. I did this booking through Booking.com and I chose to pay online with my credit card as opposed to paying at the property upon arrival. I trust Choice Hotels and stayed in their hotels many times before. I enjoy cycling and I cycle sometimes for long distances. My plan for this trip was to cycle from Toronto to Brantford, sleep at the hotel, and next day cycle back. This time it was not so simple. I don't drive and I don't have a driver's license, so when I travel I carry with me an OHIP card and citizenship card for identification. Unfortunately, this time I have only an OHIP card on me. The desk clerk refused to take it as an acceptable ID, citing the hotel policies. She also refused to make an exception this time due to the situation I was in. I didn't have a car, was extremely tired, was wearing only a t-shirt and my phone was about to die. I was looking forward to my room. Also, it was Friday night and the chances of me getting a room somewhere else were very slim. I pointed it all out to the clerk, but she still refused to check me in. Effectively, she kicked me out on the street from the hotel, which I already paid for. I spent about an hour riding around the town checking all the motels, which can take me. I figured those places will be less strict with acceptable ids. I checked five of them and they were all full. With only two more to go and check, I was facing a good possibility of spending the night outside in my t-shirt, and it was not a warm night. I got lucky, the motel number six has a room for me. The guy said he would not take credit or debit cards but only cash. I had to ride to the bank machine and back and was instructed to come to the side door of the office because the front door has a camera I would guess. I paid him 120 dollars and he let me into the room. I stayed in many motels before, basically, all of them are the same version of passable places to spend a night and move on. It looked to me that this room was in a process of reconstruction or renovation. I don't think anybody would pay for this room under normal circumstances. There was a bed with one sheet and a thin blanket and burned holes in it. There was a functioning toilet, clogged sink, old cracked up tv, which still worked, and a pretty decent wi-fi connection. The air conditioner was not working of course and all the windows were locked up. It was a clear case of a rip-off. But I still considered myself lucky and was grateful to the guy. At least, he didn't kick me out on the street. Back to the OHIP card acceptability. As a person without a driver's license, I have noticed many times how they would take my citizenship card and not an OHIP card. I think it all dated to the time when the OHIP card was more like a SIN card: no picture, signature just your name and number. These days OHIP cards are different and should be acceptable. I have to say I want to stay here again and peek around. I had the opportunity to stay for 3 nights, but honestly, I started looking at YouTube videos and realized this place is haunted and changed my mind. I now want to stay there again and realized i should have stayed here for my full business trip. I had the tolken room. Perfect for me. Big Fruit Filled Fig Tree mural and a view of the beauty of a church next to this pretty little community of Paris, Ontario. Whether my mind was playing tricks on me but several times I got noticeable chills down my spin and spouts of extream hot and freezing ice cold.....I know I was being watched and even had to say out loud a fews times to cut it out....nothing scary for me. Might freak some other people out, but remember, the mind can do some funny things to us. The staff is incredible! I met three staff members, and all had pride, and you could tell you are passionate about The Arlington. It is a big deal to work there because of its history and marking in our country. The one lady took me to the basement so I could see the original stone bar and foundation of this amazing structure. I really liked this unique experience staying here and hope i can stay here again one day. Really too bad I missed high tea, what a great idea. I bet they get lots of locals and tourists for these events. Thanks again!

Showplace Entertainment offers excellent musical cover groups once a month except July and August. Keith Burton and his wife--both talented entertainers --bring in excellent acts. In May we saw a Bee Gees cover band. I am in a wheelchair and Keith goes to great pains to ensure we are seated next to the stage where I can see. A tasty buffet served by Binghamton staff begins promptly at 12:30. The show starts exactly at 2 :00 and runs precisely 90 minutes. Other groups could learn a lot from Keith's precise planning and audience comfort.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The place was clean, and the bedroom, washroom, and sheets were spotless. The front desk staff was professional and courteous. I really recommend this hotel ********

Great staff - friendly and ready to help out, nice complementary breakfast, good parking! Hotel is old and needs renovation. AC unit was so noisy and wasn’t cooling. Had to change my room - staff was friendly and helpful with this. AC unit in Second room was still noisy - just a tad bit better than the first!

It was great staying there. Staffs were nice, and the room was clean enough. I would love to stay again!

Very close to highway and staff are friendly. Good breakfast as well.

I would highly recommend this hotel. It was perfect for family, couples and business. The staff was amazing! Breakfast was a buffet and was included in cost of stay, food taste and variety excellent!! Pool had a perfect temperature!!
