Royal Astoria Hotel is in a pretty good location as city life becomes more populated, it's just about 20 minutes of drive from central Thamel,I enjoyed the food, and the a**osphere around the hotel is just perfect with a wonderful garden, The hotel staff are very friendly ..I highly recommend for Royal Astoria Hotel.

We stayed at the Shambaling hotel for multiple times over the years now and it is the hotel we return to when coming to Kathmandu. Certainly a bit more pricier than other options, but in our opinion well worth it. The hotel is located within walking distance of the Boudhanath stupa area and a bit outside the hectic city center. Great if you want to escape the crowds. The hotel staff is exceptionally friendly, the rooms are very nice and we always slept very well. The front desk is very helpful in getting information. We always had breakfast at the restaurant to start the day. There is also a spa and sauna, however we never went there. Overall, if you are looking for a more upscale hotel in Kathmandu a bit away from the crowds, the Shambaling is an excellent choice.

Our stay was punctuated by delightful mornings indulging in an exquisite breakfast spread. The puri or chapati and curry quickly became our favorites, perfectly complemented by the aromatic masala tea and the flavorful masala omelette – a true culinary delight! With each meal, we explored a plethora of different dishes, each more tantalizing than the last. It's safe to say that the culinary offerings exceeded our expectations in every way. Very friendly service at front desk. The best feature of this hotel is the lovely well maintained tranquil garden situated in the center of the building. It was a pleasure to sip a capuccino from the cafe situated next to the garden. Unbelievable for us having not visited Kathmandu in 20 years the arrival of good coffee A very short and interesting walk takes you to the bustle and noise of the Stupa. The room was adequate but like many rooms at this price point the only place to sit was on the bed. Our room had A/C but fortunately did not need it. The bathroom was clean but hot water only came intermittently during our stay. Management were helpful and always tried to fix the problem. Wifi likewise was a bit hit and miss. Sheets were were on the thin side but typical of hotels at this price point in Asia. Overall would recommend.

Jhapad,Rohit, Bikash, Nisto they are very kind and professional. They always checked if the food was okay and asked if he needed anything. Thank you for your care. Thanks to them, I was able to have a comfortable meal. I totally recommend the hotel breakfast restaurant.

Whilst the location and rooms are terrific, the service was absolutely awful. We went to the bar to have some coffee and got no acknowledgment of any sort from any of the waiters for 15 minutes and only after complaining did we get served. Dinner was late by an hour and again only hit served after complaining. Either the staff haven’t been trained to standard or the management is so weak that they can’t see the indifference the staff are showing their guests

讓我驚喜的酒店 剛到酒店門口就看到美麗的小花園 工作人員都很熱情 進房間聞到一股檸檬香 床上很乾凈 花園裡面會放愜意的音樂 地段非常好 就在泰米爾街裏面 隨意散步走走 可以走到杜巴廣場看日落；酒店在小巷子裏 鬧中取靜 車子又可以開進去 很方便 出門左轉一百米有天津鍋貼 酒店早餐很豐富 而且是當地特色 去博卡拉的大巴車的車票也是找前台買的 總之 非常滿意

I twisted my ankle on my way to this hotel, and the hotel manager was very nice to provide a wheelchair upon arrival and pushed me himself. All in all, our room was very clean and got an amazing view.
