I stayed at the Hotel Alegria for a month in March 2022 and it was just lovely - friendly, welcoming staff could not do enough for me. It was just a few steps from the hotel to the beach bars and restaurants where one could dine with toes in the sand. It was also a couple of minutes walk to the best supermarket in Cabarete and other shops. Hotel Alegria is at the end of the bay, giving stunning sunset views, and you can either walk left along the main part of the beach, or walk right to find rockpools and a totally deserted beach where you can often have it completely to yourself. I rented a motorbike to get around easily, but I spent most days just enjoying the mature garden, the rooftop terrace and the atmosphere of this lovely small hotel. While I was there it was changing ownership, and the new owners had a wealth of ideas to make it even more comfortable and pleasing. I look forward to going back. It was also surprisingly cheap for such a wonderful location.

Chambre vieille, sale, j'ai trouvé une bouteille vide sous le lit, pas d'eau chaude, frigo qui ferme mal et qui fait beaucoup de bruit, les baies vitrées ferment pas. Le jacuzzi est à bannir, un bouillon de cultures. Nous avons réglé 55 dollars la nuit avec ventilateur. J'aurais dû regarder le site de location B.. il y avait mieux et au même prix. Et j'aurais dû lire les avis sur cet hôtel avant de m y rendre directement. Je n y retournerai pas.
