Hotel Sur

All was very good

3 of us stayed here for 4 nights. (We’re all 29) and we had a great time. The hotel is by no means posh, the rooms are basic, but immaculately clean. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is here. All rooms have air conditioning which was great, we had two rooms between us and both had balconies overlooking the pool. You also get a small fridge in the rooms. The beds are clean and comfortable, towels are provided also. All the staff in the hotel are so friendly, helpful and pleasant. The hotel is in a great location near to the beaches, pubs, and Cala bona harbour. We stayed for dinner one night, it’s a buffet for 15Eur Per person. There was enough there, drinks have to be paid for seperately. The pool area is nice enough, with a little bar in the corner and some music playing in the day. There’s a nice lounge area also if you want somewhere quiet to sit. The British bar at the front of the hotel was a good laugh also, slightly Benidorm-esque but a nice atmosphere. There tends to be a lot of older people staying at the Sur, but that’s not an issue. Just an observation. I suppose the only drawback is that the entertainment in the bar is very loud at night, if you go for a room with a pool view, it’s quieter, it wasn’t a problem for us as we don’t go to bed til 12/1am and that’s when the entertainment stops anyway. We would stay again. Something else to mention is that you have to pay a deposit for a tv remote for the room, we don’t watch TV anyway so not a problem but it may be a problem for some. The free WiFi provided was pretty fast with good reception all over the site. If you’re looking for a relatively cheap, clean, comfortable base with air conditioning, then this is the place for you if you’re on a budget!

Excellent value for money, amazing rooms and facilities considering the price I paid. Breakfast was very good, everything you would expect and more. Only negative can be a little noisy if you have a room on the front. Otherwise very impressed thank you 😃

The Sur is a lovely family-run hotel in the heart of Cala Bona, just yards from the waterfront, port, shops, cafes and bars. Family run, the staff warm and welcoming, and always willing to help. It's not the Ritz, but it is clean, comfortable and well-maintained. The bar has a good buzz, and great entertainment. The food in the restaurant is enjoyable, if basic. But this feels a "happy hotel" and many, like me, make it our first choice, visit after visit.

The Hotel Sur is officially rated a one-star, though graded by Jet2 as a two-star. It is in a great location, near the beach and all amenities. It has only four floors, so no problem for those of you with acrophobia! I had a room to the rear of the hotel overlooking the pool, which was quiet, though I did hear that some guests with rooms at the front had a problem with noise from the bar music below. This usually finishes around midnight, though. Entertainment every evening. My room (for one) had two single beds and was on the small side, but fine for me. I can imagine with two people it could be rather cramped. No drawers as such but a couple of shelves for your clothes. Only 6 hangers, however. Always plenty of hot water and the aircon was great. A good number of plug sockets, too (no kettle in room, so bring your own). For telly lovers, only a few English channels (Ch4, E4, More4, Film4 but no ITV or BBC). A refundable deposit of €5 for remote control. Fridge in room at no extra cost. Rooms cleaned on a daily basis and towels changed every day, too. Rubbish collected during housekeeping visits. The staff do a good job here. I went on a room only basis, so I cannot comment on the food. See other reviews. All in all I had a very pleasant stay and in many respects it exceeded my expectations. Perhaps it may reach a star upgrade soon? Cala Millor is nearby if you wish a change of scenery and a larger beach, with bus stops to further afield such as Porto Cristo, Manacor, Palma etc a couple of streets back. I suggest using your bank card to tap on, tap off as this gives you 40% (and more for up to 5 of you) reduction in cost rather than using cash. Weather could have been better while I was there, but hey-ho, it is what it is!!

Return visit (one of many) with my elderly mother. Another brilliant stay. Everybody friendly from the owners, the staff and other guests. Nothing too much trouble. Early in the season so an added bonus of plenty of room around the pool. Plenty of night time entertainment - always over by midnight so didn't disturb our sleep. As mentioned, all of the staff are very friendly, even the kitchen staff when they came out to refill or clean up say a friendly greeting. The night time bar staff, too numerous to mention all by name, but Pedro, Ibraham (sp!), Cristina et al are all brilliant. Cristina on reception was also lovely as are the other reception staff. Great family run hotel, the owners and the staff cannot do enough for you, we love it here, friendly, welcoming and helpful, great entertainment and great bar, our room was on the front of the hotel with a great view of the sea, room service was regular and always clean, see you again soon.... I don't know how this place is only a 1 or 2 star. It's spotless. Cleaners in every day. The staff are so acomadating and helpful. The pool area is great , the bar and staff are great. It has such a homely and comfortable feeling. It's a jewil of a place in Cala Bona. I would definitely recommend and I will definitely be coming back.
