My room was small and comfortable. But it was very basic and lacking any amenities. There was liquid hand soap for the basin and shower. There were washing lines right outside my bedroom window, so I had to keep the curtains closed to give me privacy. The variety of different plug points next to the bed were great, but why only on one side of the bed and not both sides? I know I'm pedantic, but the staff should be given clean uniforms to wear, and not wear their street clothes. Extremely limited street parking

Had a wonderful stay at Altona. Very central. Wonderful staff. Great breakfast and space to sit in that area all day. Also some outside tables in the back. Nice and quiet especially evenings when people are coming home late, not a sound.

It was my first time in Cape Town and also my first time traveling alone. I deliberately chose this guesthouse because I had already read about the outstanding hospitality of the host family, and I can fully confirm this. I had the pleasure of meeting Michael, his wife, and their housekeeper, and all of them were simply excellent—helpful and welcoming, and from the very beginning they made you feel completely at home. The guesthouse is very quiet and well located, extremely clean, and the breakfast provides a great start to the day. Tea and coffee as well as a water dispenser are available at all times, and guests can also use the kitchen. I did not have a private bathroom in my room, but I was aware of this when booking and it was not a problem for me. The bathrooms are a bit dated, but everything is very clean, which is what matters most. The beds were very comfortable, and there is also a safe in the room. I can 100% recommend this accommodation and would gladly book it again on my next visit to Cape Town.

I booked for 3 days. I felt very safe and comfortable in the rooms. The showers and toilets are clean. Very beautiful exterior and peaceful garden. Absolutely worth the price. My car was parked outside and it was still safe, there's security roaming around the area. And the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was fresh and good.

I absolutely love staying at Altona Lodge. It’s become my home away from home. The location is perfect, the rooms are always spotless, and the staff are genuinely wonderful. I’ve been staying here quite often this year while studying, and it’s been super convenient - just a 15-minute walk to campus, with Sea Point and other spots close by. During my last visit, I even extended my stay. Catherine kindly accommodated an early check-in and, as always, made me feel so welcome. She’s truly the sweetest lady and a big part of why I keep coming back. Altona Lodge offers comfort, cleanliness, and heartfelt hospitality - I couldn’t recommend it more!

Everything about Altona lodge is perfect. It’s within walking distance to the major attractions at the waterfront and the promenade along the coast in Sea point. The property is well maintained and beautifully decorated. My room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast adds tremendous value to your stay. There’s a nice selection and is served in a lovely dining/courtyard area. If you’re lucky enough to see a room available at Altona Lodge during your stay in Cape Town, book it immediately because it won’t be available for long!!
