Had a beautiful visit to Owston, the venue was warm, beautifully decorated and the setting was so peaceful. The staff were so welcoming and helpful, from reception to waiters/resses to housekeeping, it made such a difference. The food was also incredibly delicious, would recommend highly for a relaxing retreat!

I had high hopes for my stay at Owston Hall, but unfortunately, the entire experience was overshadowed by an absolutely awful check-in and check-out process. When I arrived, I was greeted by a staff member who seemed as confused as I was about the check-in procedure. There was no clear direction on where to go, no signs, and the receptionist had to keep checking with someone else, which took forever. It felt more like a maze than a hotel lobby. To make matters worse, when I tried to check out, I was hit with even more confusion. There was no clear system for checking out, and I ended up waiting for almost 20 minutes while the front desk staff argued over whether or not I had already paid. They also didn’t have a proper queue, so people were just lining up in random spots. It was chaotic, unorganized, and frankly, a huge waste of time. For a place that charges a premium rate, you'd expect much better organization. It's a real shame because the facilities were nice, but the check-in and check-out nightmare completely ruined the experience. Will not be returning unless they overhaul their process.

I recently stayed at Owston Hall and unfortunately had a very frustrating experience due to the complete lack of knowledge from the staff. When I arrived, I was hoping to get some basic information about the hotel’s amenities and services, but every time I asked a question, I was met with blank stares or vague, unhelpful answers. For instance, I asked about the breakfast hours and whether I needed a reservation for the restaurant. The receptionist didn’t know and had to keep asking other staff members, only to come back with a guess. When I inquired about the hotel’s spa facilities, no one could provide clear details about pricing, availability, or even where it was located. I also asked about local attractions, and the receptionist didn’t seem familiar with any nearby points of interest, which I found incredibly surprising for a hotel in this area. It felt like the staff was completely untrained or uninformed about the hotel’s offerings. It's incredibly disappointing, especially when you expect a certain level of professionalism and knowledge from a hotel. It made my stay stressful and inconvenient, as I had to waste time figuring out things on my own. For the price I paid, I expected much better service and a more knowledgeable team. Unfortunately, this experience was a big let down, and I won’t be returning to Owston Hall.

Two rounds golf Friday and Saturday. Excellent golf course, greens in very good condition for this time year. No temporary greens. Staff in pro shop very helpful. Main reception very welcoming on arrival. Generally throughout the hotel the staff could not help you enough, it makes a stay in hotel all the more better. The dinner and breakfast topped the stay always good to be well fed. Could not fault the stay.

We went for Sunday lunch at Owston Hall today, and the food and service were excellent - the Best Sunday lunch I have had in ages, and very reasonably priced. The Restaurant was being run by the hotel Deputy GM (Becky) - she was superb as were her staff. Owston is definitely now our "go-to" spot for lunch or dinner when visiting family in the Doncaster area.

Had a pleasant stay here for one night. Room was very spacious and clean. Nice bathroom and lovely toiletries provided. Breakfast was good and not rushed. Expensive if you don’t get it as part of your room rate though. Impressive building and setting.

We stayed for one night in this hotel. We'd paid for bed, breakfast and a dinner allowance. The room was spotless, the bed and pillows ultra comfortable and the staff were lovely, especially the dinner head waiter, who went out of his way to help when my husband asked for Gaviscon ice cream for dessert(!) Ice cream served, with a side of a Gaviscon tablet. The dinner was really lovely too. The bacon and sausages at breakfast were also very anaemic looking - something your kitchen could easily remedy. Being picky, dressing gowns would have been a nice touch. All in all, a really lovely stay.

It was such as shame as this place could be incredible. A lovely location, easy to get to off the A1, and a fantastic building. And there is nothing glaringly wrong, it's just a bit rough around the edges. Key card locks but no key cards and a cardboard one wedged in door for power. The staff not unpleasant but also not friendly, eye got an eye roll for asking for a beer at 10pm. The breakfast is £18 but for that I got two bits of bacon, a mushroom, tomato, a hash brown, and a pretty poor sausage. I got beans also (which must be asked for separately for some reason). I would expect to pay £7 at a cafe for that. Our room had a smell of backed up drain. Our double bed was two singles pushed together. Like I say, nothing awful, just for £125 but it is a step below Premier Inn. It's a shame because it could be so much better.

I took my wife here for afternoon Tea. How disappointing. For the price, the display was very poor compared to other places we have been to. Scones were rock hard on the outside and the cream was not clotted. Fancy names for food don't make it taste any better. Not a place I will be visiting again or recommend to family and friends.
