This is not the five star hotel it purports to be and was a great disappointment to us on our recent stay. The staff on reception were polite and professional, and when asked a direct question were helpful enough, but at check-in omitted to tell us some basic information (where the breakfast room is - impossible to find independently - and the fact that there is a lido down the road where hotel guests can use the sun beds free of charge and which has a good restaurant). Our room had a number of basic faults which should have been picked up by housekeeping. The light over the bath didn't work, the battery was hanging out of the safe's door, there was a big crack in the window and the kettle spout was chipped. As other reviewers have noted, WiFi and air conditioning are sporadic. The pool area felt tired and tatty, and loud music played there all day. It's not a place you want to spend time. Breakfast was acceptable, but the staff were not welcoming or helpful. When food ran out it was generally not restocked. There was a very strong smell of bleach throughout the hotel corridors and in our room; I suspect it was masking a more unpleasant odour. Essentially, I would avoid staying here.

Eccellente, siamo stati due giorni io e mia moglie, e siamo stati accolti da Melina e suo marito Luigi, due persone affabili, educate e cordialissime. Ci hanno dato indicazioni dettagliate che abbiamo seguito alla lettera per farci assaggiare lo street food locale, a partire dal panino con la carne di cavallo alle granite, ristoranti di pesce, etc etc.... tutte azzeccate. Le camere sono quattro, tutte ispirate all'arredamento siciliano dell'800, la nostra si chiamava donna Fernanda, piccola ma curata, bagno piccolo con box doccia grande, balconcino etc... La colazione viene servita in veranda sul terrazzino ed è abbondante e c'è di tutto, Melina e suo marito Luigi, preparano anche le omelette, veramente ottima e servita con prodotti di qualità. La struttura internamente è pulita e ben tenuta, l'esterno del palazzo lascia a desiderare ma è situato a pochi metri da Castello Ursino e vicino al Duomo, e un posto strategico per visitare Catania. Di sicuro ci ritorneremo e consiglio vivamente a tutti la struttura.

Only stayed at B&B 5 Balconi for 1 night but left a very great impression and great start to our trip around Sicily. Firstly, id like to thank Rob for his help and hospitality. We unfortunately had an issue with our rental vehicle which provided a deal of stress on the Saturday evening. However Rob was very welcoming, cool and collective and settled us in on the late evening. We also managed to leave with the B&B Keys - Rob was very understanding and we managed to post them back with no issue. Communication was great. The accommodation was very homely with great décor around. Comfy bed, nice view of the hectic Catania roads, stones throw from popular sites and an excellent breakfast. I had the Pistachio Croissant with filtered coffee which was delicious. Thank you again.

Accommodation is in a convenient place close to the town center. It's clean and has all amenities one needs during a holiday. Host was very helpful via whatsapp when organising check in. Only thing to mention to be mindful of - the bathroom is upstairs so be prepared to walk up a flight of stairs during the night if you need the loo.

Buona posizione in un vicolo laterale che sbocca sulla strada che porta dritto in Duomo. Il B&B si trova in un palazzo storico (ovviamente la struttura è vecchia, questo è da tenere in conto) al secondo piano, con l'ingresso effettuabile con un tastierino numerico grazie al codice che viene dato dopo il check-in. Bella la saletta comune molto accogliente e la camera molto spaziosa, con il condizionatore che ci ha salvati dall'ebollizione di Catania. Arredamento retrò che richiama il palazzo storico, ma con i comfort sufficienti per un buon soggiorno. La colazione può essere svolta in un bar con un ambiente molto carino, a pochi passi dal B&B. Il punto di forza di questa struttura è però la gentilezza e la disponibilità dei proprietari, in particolar modo Serena che ha una cura dell'ospite davvero molto attenta e che soprattutto propone delle esperienze molto piacevoli, curiose e accattivanti per rendere la visita di Catania e zone limitrofe davvero suggestiva! Consiglio l'aperitivo al tramonto sulla terrazza panoramica che si affaccia sulla piazza e sull'Etna. Le convenzioni del B&B con altre strutture e servizi sono molto interessanti e la rete di contatti che hanno creato i gestori è davvero vincente. Grazie per la bella esperienza che ci avete fatto vivere!

B & B Gisira was a fantastic place to stay for our family of 7, in December 2023. We stayed for 6 nights, wish we could have stayed longer. The host was great, anything we needed she’d help us out. We were close to everything, shops, cafes, fish market, attractions and bus stop. We had a triple room and my brother had the quad, the rooms were spacious enough and we also had a balcony, which was great. Loved having the shops right on our doorstep. Highly recommend B&B Gisira.

Very comfortable mattress. Very clean and we were welcomed with a small bottle of champagne. Very spacious and lovely. Beautiful view of the grounds. Unforgettable. Loved the old lift experience. It was fun.
