Pestana Cayo Coco Beach Resort

I was very nervous taking my first trip out of Canada. We stayed at hotel Playa Paraiso. The entertainment staff are amazing. Yemeni ,Claudia , Daniela, Araimis, Roberto, dulian Rafael, Orlando ,Eliza, Yaimel, Elier, Breno,Yesmely were very welcoming and treat us all like family. I will definitely be returning to this retort for my next vacation.

This was our first time in Cuba in 20 years. the weather was wonderful, last week of March. Before my review of the hotel: I was very disappointed reading some of the reviews on here and even with the behavior of a few guests during our stay. The sense of entitlement is huge, and some are just very disrespectful. Yelling WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOURE OUT OF CHICKEN from the back of the line at the grill is not acceptable.(they were not out) Getting mad because there is no maple syrup for the waffles, um look around.. Do you see any maple trees? They use honey and it was wonderful. No bread for 2 days, but there was tortillas. Try and remember where you are and how lucky you are to be traveling to a Caribbean country that continues to struggle with oppression. Travelers need to inform themselves beforehand and what to expect. Sorry lady but yes the ocean has coral and rocks in it and you might step on some. Eye roll to the lady who complained about that. We arrived in the morning and our room was not ready as expected, check in is at 4pm. The staff had a locked room for our luggage and we were encouraged to enjoy the resort in the meantime. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful everywhere. The hotel grounds were well kept and the staff worked hard at it. If you were up early in the cool air like us mosquitoes were around. If that bugs you make sure to bring bug spray. Our room was clean and the mattress was just ok but was fine for our stay. The man who cleaned our room, Disney made sure we had everything we needed including water bottles daily and some extra tp. Just need to ask. The buffet was busy, but we always had a seat and were taking care of for drinks by staff. and the lines could be long if you wanted to wait for custom grilled meats, seafood and pasta,omelets, fried eggs in the morning, but really wasn't as long as some others are complaining. What slowed it down was people ordering 12 pieces of chicken at once taking up the whole grill. The selection in the steam trays were good, again I don't think people remember where they are. There was always fresh fruits and vegetables, cabbage salads, meats in sauces, juices and yogurts in the morning. If people would try something different besides hot dogs and French fries they might enjoy themselves more. The pork was so good! The different restaurants had some shortages, some of the appetizers were not available but we had nice meals at the Cuban, Portuguese and Italian ones. The bars were all stocked well and the bartenders were fun making up specialty drinks for you. The pool was very nice and clean. The entertainment staff was great throughout the day always interacting with the guests at the beach and pool. Evening shows were great! The beach was spectacular. Even if some of it had some rocks and coral, walk a bit in any direction and find a secluded spot all to yourselves. Recommend getting a pineapple drink from the vendors. Delish.
