Hotel berhampiran JYD, Chania

We arrived in beautiful Chania and were dropped off on the main road opposite the little track up to the Nireas. I had read TA reviews so knew to expect that Christos, the owner, would offer us a room upgrade but we were happy with our original room which was Apt 24 on the ground floor with a fantastic large balcony opening straight onto the pool area. We paid €5 a night for air con which was really powerful, and €10 for the safe. The room was dated but more than adequate for us as we are used to Greek accommodation. There were 2 beds pushed together and then a single bed near the door which my son slept in. There was a 2 ring hob, microwave and kettle and basic utensils but we only ate breakfast in the apartment so it was more than enough. I think you would struggle to conjure up a Cordon Bleu meal though but with so many fabulous restaurants on the doorstep, it wasn’t a worry for us. There were a few things that made us chuckle…. the apartment door had been hung the wrong way so the handle was inside the room and not on the outside 🤣 and the usual Greek plumbing scenario with the shower head on the wall but the shower screen on the other side of the shower meaning the floor got soaked 🫣 but hey, it’s Greece 🇬🇷 The maid came in every day except a Sunday and the sheets/towels were changed regularly. There was a drying rack on the patio for hanging wet beach stuff up. Plenty of socket points and the beds were super comfy. The pool area was quiet but we only used it in the afternoons once we came back from the beach. There were always sunbeds and Christos was either there or available by WhatsApp. The WiFi worked fine in our rooms and by the pool. Kato Doratso is a residential suburb just 4km outside of Chania so a perfect location for us. Just down the little road from the hotel is a supermarket on the corner for all your essentials/bottles of water. There were 4 beaches within walking distance and we chose Sunset Beach due to the stunning clear water. It’s a bay so no tide and it was shallow for a great way out meaning our son could happily swim and play without us worrying too much. There was a bar on the beach and the owner did a mean Freddo Cappuccino ☕️ 👌🏽 You could buy salads, hot snacks and sandwiches, ice creams, crisps and drinks there. There were also chargeable sunbeds and parasols and you could hire a kayak or paddle board. There was another shop near the start of the hotels to the left of the bay. We bought a couple of parasols from the shop and lay on the beach. It was full of local families and we thoroughly enjoyed mixing with them. The bus into Chania is the #21. Come out of the hotel, down onto the main road and take a right along the path. Just past the car garage there’s a bus stop and a ticket machine. You need the exact change and it’s €1.10 each into town (€2 if you pay on the bus) When you are is in Chania, as you get off, there’s a ticket machine and a kiosk to buy return tickets and you can catch the bus back

From the very beginning the owner welcomed us with such care. The place itself it’s located perfectly outside the rush of people but yet still so close to the city of Chania (8/10mins by car). The establishment is super nice and well kept surrounded by bamboo and olive trees. The rooms are near each other and most of them are overlooking the pool. Room itself was very very clean and towels,bedsheets,products were smelling really nice. You can see that the place is well maintained and taken very good care of! It’s also PET FRIENDLY with stray cats(which you’ll see either in the morning or at night without even bothering you) another reason why we booked this establishment as we brought our own dog which was well accepted without any additional costs or useless comments. Our holiday is still ongoing as we booked for 5 days but it’s a must to leave a positive comment to such a beautiful place and people. To who ever sees this post don’t think twice and just book it! We have just spent a week at Corinna Mare. We were looking for something good value and didn’t want to spend alot, but still nice and clean and nice pool area. They appeared to be fully booked, but when I contacted them were able to accommodate us if we swapped rooms half way through - which we were fine to do, they gave us a discount for this. Our first room was a studio, and the bathroom was a bit tired, however, the room was big and the bed was big and comfy. There was an issue with the sink when we checked in and they rectified this immediately. The second room was the apartment. We weren’t sure what to expect as it was road facing - however, the bedroom went onto the side and so there was no noise. This was a more up to date room. Both rooms were clean. I think for what you pay here it is really good value. The pool area was excellent, and there is also a little pebbly beach area. There are two pools, one is deeper and it’s no jumping etc. and another shallower pool more aimed at kids. This has a lifeguard. The bar is reasonably priced, and the staff are great. We had a few meals at the restaurant. Salads are massive as are sandwiches. The Greek omelette was really good. We only had dinner one night, and it was gorgeous. There is a great view of sunset. They do some fixed menu deals which were very good value (€20 or less for starter and main) and really nice. I am coeliac, and so gluten free and there was plenty of choice and the staff were accommodating. There is a shop just over the road for any basics, you buy your bus tickets there for Chania. 15mins on bus, they are really regular and run until about 1am. €1.50 per person. We hired a small car for a couple of days (€55 per day - mars) to go to lake kournas, and also the botanical gardens. We did a trip to the Samaria Gorge, getting picked up outside the hotel. Yannis at reception was really helpful with any questions we had and helped with booking dinner reservation. The staff in general were friendly, helpful and laidback. There is a really nice atmosphere in the hotel and in general with the area, the locals are all really friendly. We went to To Antikristo for dinner on our last night and this was favourite meal. Well worth the journey to get there.

Perfect Vacation! My first time in Greece but definitely not the last one. Together with my parents we spent 7 wonderful days. I really have nothing bad to say about this place. Even though I am living on Dubai for the past 10 years and let’s say I am used with a high standard of accommodation and service, this place was top. Very modern rooms, extremely clean place, very delicious food, amazing views, there is a shop right next to the hotel and few beaches nearby and the most important factor that made our stay so memorable are the people!! They are just soooo kind and hospitable! From the moment I arrived, Georgia gave me a warm welcome and I had a very smooth check in. Throughout our stay Iro gave us the best suggestions where to eat, what to visit and helped us to book everything; like she was our personal concierge even though this is not her job, so blessed that we have met her. Every morning we got served breakfast by the lovely Ana and Maria, so accommodating and kind. In the evening, John and Stelios served us delicious food and amazing cocktails. Nonetheless, Mr. Andreas is one of the kindest and hard working person I met! And the one who cleaned our room daily, Efi, took care of the smallest details which made our stay more comfortable. Both myself and my parents felt like we are part of the family and were very sad to leave this place but for sure we will be back! Thank you for this unforgettable experience!

The hotel is in a perfect location. The staff are all wonderful and nothing it too much for them.

Best location in the city center and amazing service!! We are a group of 10 women, we went for a bachelorette. Mrs. Evita did everything I want as best as possible. Thank you for everything. Highly recommend for everything of the hotel, location, service, cleaning.

Stayed in suite with sea view. The view was amazing. The room was lovely, bed super comfy. There was a nice vanity table to get ready at. Bathroom was big and clean. The service at reception were very helpful. The location was great right in old town but not too noisy - music from restaurant in evening but I liked it and church bells on Sunday. I really enjoyed my stay here and was very happy with the suite. Couple of things to point out: there was no furniture on the balconies and aside from a pouf, no furniture in room to move outside. So meant nothing to sit on to enjoy balcony and it’s view. Also the curtain was only half curtain so to block out light need to shut the shutters which then restricts air. I didn’t mind but if you want darkness to sleep might need to bring eye mask. Like I said only minor things. Overall great place. Hot water - i mention as I know this is important to people :)

I booked to Elia Potie in Chania and I called the day before to ask for a shuttle from the airport to the hotel (the hotel offered this service). I asked for the driver to have a POS so I pay with a credit card. A driver came at the airport, he was nice but did not have POS because nobody from the hotel informed him about it. Thus, I had to walk with him around the city to a taxi place where his partner had the POS to pay. At the hotel and during my check in I was informed that my breakfast will not be served at my hotel but in another hotel 300 meters away. I complained because this was not written in the description of the room/hotel. Then, I had to walk with my suitcase to the hotel I booked (the check in was at the hotel where breakfast was served). When I arrived I found out that there is no elevator and I had to carry my luggage upstairs which was not possible because I broke my hand a few months ago (see pictures). I called the reception of the hotel and they told me that they do not offer groom service. I went to the room and left the suitcase downstairs. I informed the reception that either they should arrange so the suitcase is carried to my room or offer me a free cancellation. Moreover the room had a bad smell...I do not know if it is humidity or the smell from the bathroom... I also asked for a room change afterwards. The manager refused through the receptionist to offer me a free cancellation or change me room. The only thing the reception did was to send a person to carry my suitcase to my room afte two hours. Moreover, the room is above a bar and there is music playing until one a.m. Terrible experience, I do not recommend this hotel chain to anyone. The management is UNPROFESSIONAL and offer NO CUSTOMER SERVICE! Of course I informed Hotels.com immediately and they were trying to find the manager but he/she was hiding!
