This was my third and last experience of a Paradores Hotel. The Paradores' reputation is based on the façade (in every sense) of the beautiful old buildings in which they are set. It is only when you have spent a night trying to sleep inside one of these buildings that one realises that these old buildings are far from ideal for what any customer has a right to expect from a 21st century hotel; such was the case with Zamora. I will start with the positive, the view from our room was nice (even if the enchantment was completely destroyed by the presence of a tacky swimming pool, although I can appreciate that some guests might like that). Our breakfast was very good and the lady in charge of the breakfast was an example of courtesy, efficiency and professionalism. We asked for a quiet room. We were given a room with other guests on either side of us. As the people next door were shouting at each other until well after midnight and as the total lack of soundproofing meant we could hear absolutely everything (ncluding their names) I had to bang on the wall several times in an attempt to try and get some sleep. Mercifully we had nobody above us but I feel very sorry if we had anyone below us as our floor was made of the most inappropriate material you could possibly imagine for a hotel: creaky wooden planks that made an incredible amount of noise even if you walked on tiptoe. Our bathroom stank of a thousand previous occupants which made having to use it very unpleasant. While my wife was having a shower I tried to read which was also impossible because the two chairs provided were perversely uncomfortable and impossible to use. I spoke of the professionalism of the lady in charge of the breakfast service, well as an example of the sublime to the ridiculous when I went to the public bathroom during dinner while I was standing there doing what a man does in a bathroom, a member of staff came into the bathroom to change the rubbish. Did she wait til I was finished? No. Did she excuse her presence? No. Did she even try to make as little noise as possible? No. Also for a four star hotel many of the products they use from the toilet paper and tissues to the teabags are of very poor quality. In short, beautiful building, very poor hotel.

This hotel has great location. That's the only positive aspect. Everything else was absolutely, irredeemably terrible. First, the room's only window was into a dark air shaft. Second, the hotel is old ... very, very old (and not in a good way). They still use plastic punch-card key cards, which I haven't seen since the 80s! Third, the room was prison-cell-tiny and smelled of sewage; the hallways smelled of stale smoke. Fourth, the staff were uniformly unhelpful and unpleasant. Worst of all, they completely destroyed one of my bags that I had to leave at the reception (because they would not allow me to check out 1 hour later!). And to top it all off, they lied and claimed that they would compensate me and then wasted my time over the following weeks with endless emails back and forth, all without ever giving any compensation. Do yourself a favor and definitely DO NOT STAY HERE!

Beautiful hotel! Front desk very friendly,especially Latasha! My request for a quiet room was granted. The 6th floor in low numbers is good. I stayed 3 nights for work and my room was SPOTLESS! The mattress was firm, my pillows fluffy. I especially loved the slippers because I forgot mine. Upon arrival Franklin helped me with my luggage and on a rainy day my umbrella was in my car. He kindly gave me one. The only drawback was the Valet parking. They're very good at what they do but I wish there was maybe off-site parking. $18 is a bit steep, I walked to work so I paid for my car to be parked. The morning coffee in the lobby was very good. I didn't get a chance to eat at restaurant Ridley but the aroma sure smelled good. I would definitely stay here again. The lobby's decor and seating was very comfortable.

My wife and I spent two nights at this hotel and were quite pleased. We had a one bedroom studio room which was comfortable and quiet, if a little dimly lit. It's also within walking distance to several eateries. Moreover the staff was kind enough to provide an expansive list of dining options as well. The breakfast was above average and it's nice to dine on real plates with real flatware, instead of the throwaway stuff one usually gets. Staff members also regularly came by to check on you or to bus your plates. If there's a downside it's that it's near a fire station so there is occasional noise from emergency runs.

Typical Hampton Inn and Suites room. Never had a bad one. Hotel was located in the downtown area and was about 15 minutes from Monticello. Two things annoyed me though. Breakfast on Sunday morning was OK There was no spray to keep the waffles from sticking so you have to wrestle with it to get it out of the waffle maker. There was also no sugar free syrup. There was sausage gravy (flavorless) and biscuits and fried eggs(overcooked) as well. For all the HI&S I have stayed at, you rarely get the same breakfast 2 days in a row. We did this time. There were no muffins in the bax and the waffle mix was running out. Not a good morning for that. The other issue is the $10 daily parking fee. Now I have gone to downtown hotels before and they park your car for you and charge. Here, you park in their surface lot yourself and pay to do so. I don't like that practice.

Last-minute reservation for a queen. Arrived and got a king bed. Bonus! Room did not have carpeting, which I don’t like. At least put a doormat in the room so I’m not tracking dirt and salt from the sidewalk all over the floor. Bathroom and sink area were recently redone and very nice. Comfortable bed. One complaint was the chairs. They’re plastic stackable, like you will find at a turnpike rest stop food court. Overall a clean, comfortable, and pleasant stay.

We stayed in a ”king suite.” The room was recently renovated and very pleasant. There's a separate area with a couch and pull out desk. I'd be comfortable staying there to work for the week. I was there with family and the overall facility was extremely nice, with a better than expected breakfast and eating room. The staff was very nice and welcoming. It took about 15-20 minutes to walk to UVA and the downtown historic area.

My wife and I spent two nights at this hotel and were quite pleased. We had a one bedroom studio room which was comfortable and quiet, if a little dimly lit. It's also within walking distance to several eateries. Moreover the staff was kind enough to provide an expansive list of dining options as well. The breakfast was above average and it's nice to dine on real plates with real flatware, instead of the throwaway stuff one usually gets. Staff members also regularly came by to check on you or to bus your plates. If there's a downside it's that it's near a fire station so there is occasional noise from emergency runs.

I was there with family and the overall facility was extremely nice, with a better than expected breakfast and eating room. The staff was very nice and welcoming. It took about 15-20 minutes to walk to UVA and the downtown historic area.

My husband was sent to the UVA Medical Center for cancer treatment. I stayed here for the week and it was extremely clean, quiet and had the most kind, helpful employees. The bed was very comfortable. It is out of the way enough to be quiet but is convenient to shopping and food. Everyone who worked there was polite. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again!
