I was put up in room 309. The good: 1. staff is courteous 2. buffet breakfast is OK 3. the room was clean 4. Easy to locate, access 5. Good vegetarian restaurants are located close-by 6. Filtered water supplied in bottles were safe The not so good: 1. in 5N stay, Wi-Fi did not work for one full stretch of 24 hours 2. the room door access got disabled from outside (I could exit but not enter with the card); the staff claimed that the battery had to be replaced, but did not do so till I checked out. They opened the door with a mechanical key whenever I had to enter. 3. I am a vegetarian and the restaurant had very few options in dinner 4. Most of the hotel stinks with unpleasant odour. The aisle on the third floor (where my room was located) had a bad odour - stale oil, restrooms stench and such. 5. The room too had a stale odour, probably because the room was unused for long. I asked the staff to spray the room freshener and they promptly did. 6. There were two mirrors, one in the room and another in the bathroom. Lights to those mirrors did not work. 7. The central air conditioning was extremely noisy. I had to switch it off. Fortunately, the weather was good, which is a rarity in Chennai. So, I could sleep without the air conditioning. 8. The juice glasses at the restaurant had a stale ancient wet cloth odour; probably the restaurant had been reusing the cloth, without washing, for ages. Some cutlery too had the same odour. 7. The small bowls at the restaurant were cleaned, but had water - they were not wiped dry. If they were, probably they too would have had ancient wet cloth odour! 8. On busy days, many items in the breakfast menu ran out and were not replenished 9. There were tissues in the bathroom, but there were no hand tissues in the room. 10. There was a dustbin only in the bathroom, none in the room. 11. One night there was continuous noise in the air conditioning duct. I thought that rodents were moving in the duct. I complained about it the next morning, at the reception. It was not rodent, but I think the maintenance staff were making all the noise in the night, without bothering about the sleeping guests.
