Fenchihu Hotel

The hotel itself is nice. We got a room with beautiful view. However, the location was VERY inconvenient to go to Alishan and to come back to the hotel. There are limited local buses ( only four schedule buses) to go and from Alishan to Fengqihu but you can’t get into the buses because the bus is full 🙄. We had to hire local taxi to go back to our hotel from Alishan. The taxi fare is very expensive and you can’t really Uber. I would recommend the hotel to have shuttle buses to and from Alishan for their guests. Otherwise, I would recommend you to drive or stay at Alishan.

Located in a convenient location, not too long a drive to Alishan. Decent given the limited number of hotels in the area and for the relative price. We were each given a NTD100 for buying breakfast at the 7-11. They provide free walking tours which seemed interesting, check their website for the routes. Town is very quiet after 5/6pm with almost all shops closed so be there earlier

This is the main fenchihu hotel with the railway bentos. Front desk staff are very nice and helpful! The pork bento is also strangely much better than the chicken one imo (and full of veggies which was super enjoyable). You do need to first carry your luggage down a steep flight of stairs from the train station to get to the old street, which is where they are at (right where the 7/11 is, you can't miss it). There's no bottled water, but there is a water dispenser. They also provide 2 in 1 soap in the toilet. The room was very clean but (1) they don't do daily house keeping, so my trash really piled up after 3 days, (2) there is no aircon and the blanket is THICK so I would recommend that you turn the fan on, it helps alot, and (3) I had drain flies appear in the toilet on the second day and the drain did start to stink. Breakfast voucher is 200 NTD per room per day for use at the 7/11.
