The room was in a basement. We were not told this when we booked. The room was dark, depressing and reeked of mildew. There was a literal folding bed in front of our door in the narrow hallway. We asked them to move it as it was a fire hazard but it was still there when we left. The stairs were uneven, unsafe and poorly lit. The bathroom and shower were down the hall from the room. For $400, this place is a scam.

TLDR You only have one chance to make a first impression ....we flew all the way from DC, on our 20th anniversary to stay at the Villa d'Citta. During our 4 day trip we were forced to take 3 cold showers and had to wake up early 3 of the 4 days because we kept being told the water heater was being fixed in the morning (it never was). The owner only offered half hearted apologies.  The long version First the Good The Villa D’Cita is gorgeous. I mean stunning. Real old-world Italian charm, like you crossed an ocean vs crossing Lake Michigan. We are talking a fireplace, giant tub, multi head shower, terraces, a hot tub. An elevator will take you and your bags. If you’re the type of person who needs midnight nosh, this place has got you. Unlike most places, this B&B has an 24/7open kitchen with sangria, sandwich fixings, bagels, Italian ice, cannolis, donuts, coffee, juices, hot cold tea, you name it. You can also pre-order a pizza for a fee  Ok, now the not so great/bad We picked this place to celebrate our 20th anniversary, hoping to make it truly special and romantic MONDAY: flew into Chicago and when we got to the villa I decided to take a shower before dinner.  The water was  lukewarm but it didn’t really register as a huge issue, maybe because I was so hot and I wasn’t convinced I knew how to use all the dials in the shower correctly yet. TUESDAY: Went to bed hoping to sleep late and woke up to banging around 9am that lasted for over an hour. Went to take a shower and the water was cold. Hubs called the owner and got a text back that the water heater /circuit breaker was on the fritz and they would come by to reset it. We waited 30 min but still no hot water, so my husband (a Navy military vet) finally decided to take a cold shower, “just like on the boat” The owner texted back apologizing and telling us that the water heater would be fixed THURSDAY between 9-5 (so much for sleeping in late on Thursday) But until then they would monitor the water temp periodically We were extremely disappointed and briefly considered leaving so we texted the owner and let him know that we were frustrated  However, the owner texted back and said he would reschedule the  Thursday heater installation so we could sleep late. We assumed that meant later in the afternoon or on a different day. We decided to stay WEDNESDAY: No noise, slept in late. But woke up and no hot water again. Texted owner and he came over and fixed it promptly and spoke in person to my husband Turns out the water heater was still scheduled to be fixed on Thursday and he asked my husband if we could be done showering early. My husband asked if 11 was ok. But the owner countered and asked if we could be done by  10 (ugh) that was only an hour after the original time. Who wants to set an alarm on vacation, when we could be in bed cuddling?  20th anniversary, remember? He then told my husband that he was NOT giving us a discount because we were already getting a discount on the room.

Came for 4 nights to move my daughter to the area. Owner forgot I was coming upon check in, so was kind enough to put me in an upgraded room. My key code never worked once- everytime I called there was an apology however never fixed. Charged me for 4 nights and said something about having to adjust price blah blah made zero sense. After he told me the 4th night I would have to switch rooms. I said I will just stay at my daughters if I am packing up anyway. He understood.. and have now disputed the last night on my American Express. Save yourself the headache from this cluster of a place and book a Marriott.

Amazing accommodations, unparalleled amenities, and attentive and friendly staff made our stay here perfect in every way! Complimentary, high quality food options helped keep my stay in Chicago more affordable. Owner respects privacy but is readily available by text or phone call.

My wife and I spent Thursday Friday and Saturday night at the Villa about 2 weeks ago. before I leave my review I want to mention that I have stayed at some of the nicest hotels around, I regularly stay at the Wynn in Las Vegas and I've paid anywhere from $500 to $1,000 a night to stay there. Villa makes the Wynn look like Motel 6. The Villa deserves more than five stars. The proud people who own it and those who run it are outstanding at what they do and attend to every possible detail of the guests' comfort and enjoyment. It is beautifully decorated inside and out and centrally located. The kitchen downstairs has plenty of consumables in the refrigerator and in the kitchen, You can make yourself something to eat, from bacon to bagels, 24 hours a day. on weekend days there's a wonderful lady in the kitchen who makes an Italian breakfast or will make you pretty much anything that you want. I highly recommend Their videos on YouTube which set forth all of the amenities and I can't wait till we go and stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay at Villa D’Citta. The location was perfect. There is a bus stop on each end of the block, and the Fullerton train station is a short walk away. The Lincoln park zoo is a 15 minute walk. The neighborhood was beautiful, with all the trees. We stayed in the Euro Room. Everything about our stay was comfortable. The whole place was beautifully decorated. We enjoyed our coffee outside in the grotto each morning. The fully stocked kitchen was great for a late night snack, as was the breakfast. Rosa was there each morning to prep a few breakfast items. Villa D’Citta doesn’t feel like a hotel, or even a BnB, it feels like you are staying at a friends home. We felt very welcome and comfortable. We will definitely be visiting again.

Found this b&b after a lot of searching on line and was a little gem in the Lincoln park area of the north side of Chicago Breakfast is help yourself with many choices available and Jan comes in to cook on Friday and Saturday morning, had good weather so sat outside for breakfast Very quiet location and nice surrounding area with plenty of options for restaurants and bars Venetian room was excellent with shower and short walk across the balcony to a hot tub Fullerton station on the L train is 10 minutes walk which gives easy access to the city Owner Don is on hand if required but after a quick chat to check in he will leave you to enjoy your stay unless you need something Code system means no messing around with keys or cards Overall an excellent stay for 6 nights

Our stay was amazing. We were swept into the Tuscan atmosphere of this bed and breakfast the minute we arrived. The staff gave personal attention and the amenities tha are provided are top notch. We instantly felt part of the historical community of Lincoln Park as we strolled down the brownstone lined streets. You must experience Villa D'Citta to appreciate its charm.
