We recently stayed at Beechmont for a couple of nights to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Everything we really want to say has already been mentioned in the reviews by others, but there are a couple of things I want to say, First of all, we loved our time at this special place. The staff were sensational and to be greeted each morning at the door of the dining room by Scott was terrific. The breakfasts were plentiful in size and catered to our minor dietary needs that we had been previously asked about. I really enjoyed the little glass of yoghurt on the first morning (once my wife had eaten the sprinkled nuts off the top). The scrambled eggs were excellent, but I am not a fan of bacon cooked really crispy like Americans seem to like it. The cherry tomatoes with chopped garlic was excellent. We did not leave the property during our stay, and had our picnic hamper on the balcony, which had heaps of sun, and no wind. The hamper had luscious goodies and there was more than we could eat. Of particular note was the very small sweet pickled onions. We loved our food at dinner on the first night. I had quail as entrée and the pork for main. Both excellent dishes (although I would not serve seeded mustard and cold apple puree. Dijon mustard and warm apple would be my preference). On the second night, after being “entertained” by Jack at the bar, we had our dinner. There was a leek and potato soup with shaved truffle from the degustation menu and it was absolutely sensational. My wife had the cod for her main and pronounced it as being top quality. Sadly, my wagyu cap was a complete disappointment, being chewy and grisly. It had a nice taste, but was inedible. There are a number of minor matters that I mention in the spirit of helpfulness. (In my working life, I ran one establishment of 1000 beds and another of 450 beds). We were placed in an accessible room, at our request, and the bathroom was excellent. I would consider having a heater installed in the bathroom, because it was freezing. I noticed a previous reviewer mentioned water from the shower going all over the floor in the accessible bathroom. We did not find this at all – the trick is to lower the shower rose, point it towards the wall and if possible hold it in one hand to wash yourself. I would also have a chair placed in the main room as there was nothing other than the bed to sit on. Also, perhaps a rug/mat in the room might give a feeling of warmth. I loved the combustion fire, but sadly, my wife was affected by the very small amount of smoke she sensed. I realise that the property is in the countryside, but we found we had to brush down the tables and chairs on the balcony to get rid of the cobwebs. I’m guessing this would be a never-ending chore for cleaning staff. There is also a need for some of the walls and the door frames to be cleaned, but I am being petty about that. This was my 2nd time staying at the Binna Burra Sky Lodges, after the bushfires hit the Binna Burra Lodge in 2019. It was fortunate that the Sky Lodges seemed relatively unscathed by the bushfires that ravaged the park. The Sky Lodges are beautifully furnished, with lots of beverages, utensils, laundry facilities and a spa bath. The only limiting aspect of service is that there were no bathroom slippers provided to shield our feet from the stone cold floor. Due to unforeseen work circumstances, a personal friend who was supposed to drive us up to the Sky Lodge, and accompany us on a bush walk had to cancel on us about a week before our booking. I called the property hotline and Lodge duty manager, Pip was really responsive to recommend a private transport operator to ferry us up from Nerang Train Station to Binna Burra and back. As we arrived at Binna Burra, I was surprised to find that the check-in for the Binna Burra Sky Lodges has moved to the Teahouse, which is about 200-300 metres down the road from where the Sky Lodges were located. Thankfully, we had an awesome duty manager, Justine who allayed our concerns- allowing us to deposit our bags as we embarked on a hike to Daves Creek Circuit. She also had to manage and deal with my unreasonable, demanding father who dropped out early in the hike and hounded her for our whereabouts when we were uncontactable due to poor signal reception. When we checked-in at reception, Justine provided exceptional customer service by driving us up to the Sky Lodges and porting our heavy bags into the room. She also approved of us checking-out by leaving our keys in room, instead of having to lug all our belongings down to reception.

We were met by a friendly staff member and shown our room. It was adequate but depressing. The main reason we were disappointed with the room we were shown is that there was no wardrobe or fridge and it was just a bed in the room with no other furniture and a standard bathroom. We asked if there was a room with somewhere to hang our clothes at least and it was suggested a hat stand might suit! We asked if there were any rooms available with a wardrobe and we were shown another room that did indeed have a wardrobe but no hangers!!! ….who travels with clothes hangers?!!! I’ve done a lot of travelling and seen many hotel rooms but never one without somewhere to hang your clothes. We were then shown a larger room which had a hat stand but no wardrobe and because it had a table, kitchenette and fridge we asked if we could book this but we had to pay a further $390 for the five nights. Apparently it is usually $340 per night. We reluctantly accepted this extra cost…still no wardrobe or anywhere to put clothes!!!…not even a set of drawers. However the most disappointing aspect was there was no housekeeping during those 5 nights. Coffee, tea, biscuits, toiletries and towels were not replenished and the bins not emptied. No attempt to make the bed…no checking of the room or bathroom at all. We would have expected that especially as we paid $280 per night. Most hotel accommodations would have provided housekeeping during a 5 night stay. Last night we were there we didn’t get much sleep as other patrons were very noisy until 4.30a.m. in the communal room which is alongside the rooms…no escaping the noise as it’s on the same floor!!! Food was good and the garden great in the evenings. Rump and rib special was excellent. Friendly staff in the restaurant. Breakfast not available at the hotel but some excellent cafes nearby. Shame some finishing touches weren’t there as this review could have been very different.

We were quite disappointed with our stay at O'Reillys. Firstly we didn't realise how far away the villas were from the main retreat. Nothing on the website prepared us for that. It meant us driving every time we headed to the dining area and the activiities. And there was no parking for the villa guests up at the retreat, so it was always a walk from the day visitors car park. We enjoyed the sunset tour, that was the only good experience we had. The wildlife encounter was very poor, and glad that it was included in our package, because if we paid extra for that, we would have been complaining on the spot. The bird of prey presentation was very good, but having to pay for the chance to put the bird on our arms was excessive, since we took the photos ourselves. I understand that these beautiful animals are expensive to keep and feed, but the presentation was another activity that was charged extra for most guests. That should have been included. We did pay for the experience, but it is a shame that we had to. The dining room was dark and dingy and very outdated, and needs lots of love and serious renovation. Looking out the windows from the restaurant, it is very dirty and cobwebs in those areas, it looks awful. Simple to fix those kind of things. The food was quite good. Service was good from staff. The villas themselves were very nice, but so bland. There were shelves with nothing on them at all, no information on the area or the national park. No artwork on the walls and because of the completley overgrown bush, it was dark. it felt so clinical and unwelcoming. There was no view from our balcony as it was totally surrounded by the bush. This was just another disapointment for us. The retreat reception and general areas were like visiting a time capsule, and while I appreciate rustic, there was nothing appealing about this experience. My one spot review was for the food and the sunset tour only, I don't feel that anything else deserved a good review.

Just stayed at Sky Island Studios to celebrate my birthday and could not have asked for a better experience. I was met by Jessica upon arrival, who made both myself and my wife feel very welcome. The cake in the fridge and message on blackboard was a delight! The cabins are beautiful - was wonderful to wake up to the sounds of birds while watching sunrise in the morning. Breakfast on the deck was spectacular - and the banana choc smoothie was just the right way to start the day! Huge thanks to Jessica and Albert for their hospitality and look forward to visiting again.

I have had lunch at The Wallaby four times this year with a variety of family, friends and work colleagues. On each occasion the food and service have been excellent. The meals are always hot, the chips scorchingly so. The schnitties, steaks and seafood are always perfectly cooked, the salads fresh, colourful and crunchy. The staff are polite, professional and personable. We have eaten at many other pubs and clubs on the Gold Coast in recent times, frequently disappointed with cold meals, and slow and indifferent service. Not at The Wallaby! Consistently excellent fare, consistently impeccable service. Highly recommended!

Very neat and tidy apartment with all facilities available - kitchen/laundry etc. Shuttlebus service to restaurants is vital and well run by the friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room close to train station & stadium.
