Nice rooms and a very good breakfast! The staff was really nice. Also, a nice gym but the spa facilities were disappointing. Mainly because the saunas did not open until 12. You could have opened this from at least 10 am as the pool was filled with kids in the morning. Furthermore, because of the many pool toys, kids were playing everywhere in the pool area. So no place for relaxation. The pool area was quite cold and you did not want to lay on the sunbeds. A new acoustical ceiling would be good in the pool area.

Very classy. Very expensive but worth the expense. The hotel did a great job restoring the building. First, the front desk staff are simply amazing. It was our first international trip since covid, so I was nervous and tired. But, the front desk peeps were welcoming and soothing. Thank you for your effusive welcome. The room is cozy especially the bed. The bathroom is fairly large and very clean and comfortable. The resto has a stunning view of the river. I would have stayed there often except that I was avoiding food as I struggle with my weight. Overall, simply awesome!

Das Hotel ist ein Muss, ein Wahrzeichen von Hamburg. Wir hatten hier eine echt schöne Zeit und das Frühstück ist super lecker.

It has been mentioned a few times in other reviews, quirky, and it is the best word for a description. The hotel is next to where they are building a new Westfield, so I am guessing it will be busy going forward, but I was not disturbed by any building site noise. The staff were friendly and efficient, no stereotypes. Breakfast was good, buffet style with plenty of it to suit many different European tastes, bacon was especially good though I never found a toaster (how do you know someone is British, without asking...). Coffee was nice however tea seems to be the drink of choice in Hamburg. Had a shared lunch with pork, veg, spinach and a nice desert so the food also hit the spot. Now for the rooms, no complaints what so ever, the shower (a two piece rain and normal showers) was excellent, with quality soap/shampoo on hand. The bed was firm but comfy with plenty of pillows. A mini-bar is provided, that is free and in mine I got a Fritz kola, water, 2 beers and a chocolate bar, I say in mine because everyone I spoke to seemed to have different items. Now the quirky bit, the rooms are themed with mine having a rope ladder on the wall, an open sea chest for furniture, a hot water bottle, a sheep, a bluetooth speaker and bag for you to use while exploring Hamburg and last but not least the ships log book. There is a spa with sauna, German rules apply, with the sauna having a fridge full of beer/water. The lifts never seemed to be more than a minute wait, well apart from the third lift which I tried to use but would not work, my fault for not noticing crew only..... There are shops around the corner, with bars just across the bridge including the 'mini-bar' which is an experience. Even after a few tasty German beers I never tried climbing the rope ladder....... Only drawback from my point of view was the size of the safe in the room, I have an iPad Pro and it would not fit in the safe. First time that has happened for me, luckily did not have to leave it too long. Looking forward to returning.

A few issues with this hotel and mainly for this price I would expect more. There is not tea or coffee in the room. The hotel food and drink is very expensive. There was no dining options on a Monday night! This is a large hotel and not providing food for guests is odd. Sushi you can get but I am not a fan and there are no other options. The public areas are dark, I found it hard to see or enjoy the company of others in such a dark place. The front doors are hot and miss if they open, you can be left standing in the rain and cold for a while! The shower set up means the bathroom floor is always wet after using it. The beds are weird and have the smallest duvet covers and pillows. I’m not the plus the rooms are large and well soundproofed.
