Stayed for two nights with my husband as part of my 50th birthday celebrations! Well restored and looked after building. Very clean, comfy and spacious with a great roof terrace. Staff were very helpful. Quiet building and street but very close to the esplanade / pier where we watched “the kids” jumping off into the sea and the amazing sunset. Cadiz is a lovely city with some lovely parks and a beautiful cathedral. It’s also small enough to walk around quite easily. We had lunch in the market, which I recommend, and cooked our own food in the evening for a change. I'd also recommend a visit to the camera obscura. Had a great stay!
Having just had a weekend in a 5 Star hotel, I was slightly concerned we should have lower expectations about our stay in Cádiz. Not been here before, so it was all new. Not been to Spain for years so my skills at speaking the language were rusty. As it was, everything was amazingly cool. The ‘apartment’ - a large rooM dissected by the lift shaft with a shower room and a kitchenette on either side separating the living room bit and the bedroom. A Long narrow passage with built in wardrobe spaces made best use of the available space. Aircon was efficient, three large windows open up over a narrow lane at the back of the building. The area is predominantly residential and the building the apartment is in was, I think, previously an office building. There is a central atrium with a glass roof. I don’t like heights so being on the 3rd floor, it’s a long way down. It’s staffed for part of the day, and there is coffee/tea, cold drinks available 24/7. The building was quiet, just 2 other rooms I noticed to be occupied at the same time. Locally, it’s not far to find food/drink and being in the old town, nothing is too far. Loved Cádiz, lots to see/do. Would defo come back and consider staying in the Plazuela again.
I've stayed in many hostels during my travels and this time I stayed for almost 3 weeks at Planeta Cadiz. I absolutely loved everything about my stay there. The location is perfect in the heart of the historic town of Cadiz. The facilities are very clean and you have everything you need. In my dorm room there was even its own bathroom, which is usually on the hallway in other hostels. They also had a dedicated study and work room which was perfect for me as I had to work remotely during my stay. Also, the rooftop was fantastic and made it easy to socialize. Especially, the volunteers made great effort to make everyone feel welcoming and to be part of a little family. The kitchen could be a little bit better equipped, but you basically have everything you need to prepare proper meals! Thank you Planeta Cadiz for this great stay - I'll definitely come back!
Outstanding! It’s not impossible… though sometimes you wonder why we don’t come across places like this… all the time! Can it be so difficult for a single place to provide excellence at all levels - service, facilities, cleanliness, layout of room and bathroom, size and tone (lighting) of room, comfort… breakfast?! This place has it all!
An excellent location between the waterfront and the narrow streets of the old town. Our room, 6125, was on the second floor away from the lift. With the windows closed we had no noise, but were left reliant on a not very cool air conditioner fixed at 24 degrees - in my case a little too high for comfort. If I stayed again I might request an electric fan. We hugely enjoyed shared use of the third-floor outdoor terrace with views to the sea. Don't miss the sunset. Another huge bonus is the laundry with washer drier. No coins or any of that nonsense, although instructions are in Spanish. Inevitably I ended up the wash-that-never-ends but the receptionist was kind and helpful, even phoning a friend for advice. Also, you might need to buy your own laundry liquid. The low point was breakfast. Limited fruit and cereal and bread not to our taste. As we were staying for a few days stocked up at a supermarket. Cadiz itself is said to be struggling economically through loss of jobs and opportunities, with younger people leaving in search of these. However the place has a great spirit. The cathedral has a calm, warm and welcoming atmosphere after the rich glories of Granada, Cordoba and Seville.
PPengguna TetamuNice outward appearance and our room was available for check in. Nice room with king bed, lamps and plugs on both sides of bed. Nice table, with lamp and coffee pot and fixings. Plenty of room for working on electronics. Wi-Fi works well. Two luggage racks, very unusual. One full wall of cabinet space with safe. Refrigerator under the desk. Spouse was not happy with the tub/shower combination, but management put *****s of non-slip material on the tub floor. Bathroom nice size. Breakfast costs 5 Euro each and is inclusive, probably better then we can do on the street.
PPengguna TetamuBooked last minute fantastic hotel right at the end of Victoria Playa right on the beach. Didn't eat there as we like to try local eateries. Bars just over the road to suit all tastes or a gentle stroll to other endless bars and restaurants. The Barman Tearo (sorry if spelt wrong) was amazing very attentive entertaining and polite. A 30 minute stroll takes you to the old town which is a must, beautiful Plazas and bars and tapas eateries on every crossroads. Went on the train to port Santa Maria (there is a ferry that leaves every 3 hours (May) 30 mins travel on each for around 10 euros for 2 persons. Must admit won't be returning to port Santa Maria found it a bit dated especially when you have been to Cadiz. All in all a great 4 day stay onto another hotel in the old town for the next 3 days will post another review soon. 😊
PPengguna TetamuMy friend and I had to stay at this place for one night because our rooms at the Spanish school weren't ready. It was really nice and very close to the train station. We had a really nice room with a balcony. I don't really know what there is around the area because we were only here one night and we were really tired after coming down from Madrid.
