Hotel terbaik di Challes-les-Eaux

Ragni grossi come le nostre dita, si prova a contattare il numero d'emergenza per la notte ma parte la segreteria e nessuno richiama nemmeno il giorno dopo. Il servizio RECEPTION è solo dalle 17 alle 21, quindi di mattina fermiamo l'addetto alla colazione che cerca di contattare la responsabile ma poi ci dice che è partita chissà dove. Non è possibile ridarci i soldi o un rimborso di qualche tipo senza di lei. Seguono assicurazioni da parte dell'hotel che la pulizia è scrupolosa, e che se vogliamo possono spruzzare un insetticida. Inviamo una mail con le foto dei ragni (3 in totale) alla responsabile, ma nessuno ovviamente si fa vivo. Oltre a questo disagio, in generale la camera era molto polverosa, NON C'È aria condizionata né una ventola in bagno per cui rimane tutto molto umido. In camera c'era un ventilatore ma così polveroso che è un rischio per chi è asmatico e lo abbiamo dovuto pulire noi. L'hotel è tirchio e quindi ti rifila per forza un solo set di asciugamani anche se siete in due. I mobili sono rotti perché sono ancora gli stessi della vecchia gestione, e sono passati più di 20 anni. La colazione è molto scarsa e sicuramente molti prodotti non sono freschi, per esempio l'uovo sodo che ho preso aveva il tuorlo NERO.

Fifth visit to this hotel and for the first time when booking I saw different prices for different room sizes, and chose the only 1 that had any availability when I came to book, so I knew I would not be getting a big room with balcony as I've had twice before. The air considering now seems to be in all rooms (it was only in some last time I stayed in 2019), but I do wish they would give the option of being able to use it all year round (a notice states that when the mode has been switched, I guess centrally, it is not possible to switch it back, and last time I stayed it was a warm October and the air conditioning didn't work). In steamy June it was great to have very efficient and controllable air con and the room was very comfortable for sleeping. Every room has a kitchenette which we find very useful for chilling drinks etc. We did miss the balcony for having a drink, but knew we wouldn't get this so weren't disappointed. The young chap who checked us in was very pleasant but spoke very fast French to me at check in and didn't revert to English despite my not great French, I think I should be flattered! We had some issues with our door lock which worked only intermittently. We reported it twice and the problem seems to be diagnosed by what colour light shows when the card is inserted, the problem was there was no light at all! The second time, after being totally locked out and even a very friendly housekeeper couldn't make it work, the lady from reception changed the batteries but it still didn't work reliably so she said she'd get maintenence to have a look the next day. We don't think this happened, but we did find that if we pulled the door forward before putting the key in we could get it to open. The piece of wood at the bottom of the door was loose and was a bit of a trip hazard. Housekeeping is only done every other day which was perfectly fine and when it was done it was to an amazing standard (eg sheets changed) but the coffee supplies seemed inadequate for 2 people (only 1 coffee capsule, creamer etc) , not that it was a problem for us as the machine was a bit too complicated! All in all, this was another very pleasant stay in a hotel that feels like home from home for us now!

We had just one night to stay in Chambery, and chose this hotel due to its proximity to the town centre and the railway station. We really enjoyed our stay. We arrived at the hotel over 2 hours before we were due to check in. The receptionist was very welcoming, and indeed all the staff were very pleasant during our stay. Upon arrival, we were about to enquire as to whether we could leave our luggage there before later returning to check in, but receptionist said she would check to see if the room was available - and it was. We really appreciated this generous gesture. The room was quaint, and I imagine it would be really lovely to stay there in mid-winter, as it really felt like a ski chalet. The bedroom itself wasn't large, but it was perfectly adequate for our needs, and we liked that the door to our bathroom didn't open directly into the bedroom, but was off a little lobby area. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful! All in all, we thought the Hotel des Princes represented tremendous value for money. One little thing - *********** emailed me a few days in advance of our visit to Chambery, to tell me my credit card had been declined. I was shocked, as I'd booked other stays on that site with the same card - which was actually a VISA debit card. I emailed the Hotel des Princes and explained the situation, and they replied confirming my booking.

Even though we Absolutely Could Not go to our room before check in (but we could leave our bags)(the French & their rules!) this hotel was fabulous. Great location, efficient welcome, lovely bar, a swim or sauna if we’d fancied, a huge room with a comfortable huge bed, decent sized bathroom-oh yes it was all there-& the best bit-a massive window the whole width of the room, which you could completely open & if you’re on the 7th floor, superb views of Chambery & surrounding mountains. Magic.
