Absolutely loved staying at the Rothay Manor. We honeymoon here in 1999 and have stayed a few times on our anniversary. We were a little apprehensive this time as the hotel is under new management and a few of the reviews on Trip Advisor haven’t been so good, however this wasn’t our experience. The staff from the first person who took our reservation, all the bar and restaurant staff were superb, friendly yet professional. Our room was lovely (a superior room with a balcony) clean and supplied with everything we could need. We had an evening meal which was beautiful and breakfast was excellent too. Thank you so much Rothay Manor for taking good care of us, we’ll be back.

Opinion on stay at Temperance Inn. As stated already this is my honest opinion on our recent stay at The Temperance Inn on Lake Road, Ambleside in the lake district.. The stay was for five nights in September 2023 and was for a couple. The bedrooms are good with comfortable beds and an excellent shower, with towels provided. There is no car parking on site, If you have no car or if you do not want to use your car then the bus station is in very close proximity, just round the corner. Bus time tables are readily available at the library just opposite the bus station.

We used to stay here when it was the Regent Hotel, but this has all changed now. The Regent no longer exists , and has been fully converted to bedrooms, with main building being across the road “ The Wateredge Pub” rooms are good. However. …..We had booked in for 3 nights, but had to move on our second day as the electrics in the room were faulty. It was only after we moved that I realised it was one of the rooms where they allow dogs, and I could smell a doggy smell. I wasn’t going to move again - too much hassle. It’s a shame there is no longer a comfortable lounge to sit and read etc. only the pub across the road. Breakfast was fine.( included in our stay ). But the evening meal are very expensive in my opinion. £ 18 for chicken and a corn on the cob……..chips etc cost extra. £17 for a pork chop and sauce .”……..all veg extra at £4:50 per portion for EACH veg. Ridiculous! Staff are very friendly . Would I stay again ? probably not I’m afraid. But it was ok.

My daughter and partner visited the Wateredge inn for a meal.parking in the car park which has always been free to park in over the last 20 years I’ve been visiting so she didn’t think to check the status of the car park. As she had been there with me earlier in the year no charges then. So they had a meal had some drinks and left happy. On returning home a week later, a parking charge for £60 from SMART PARKING arrives through the post. We contacted the company that owns the wateredge inn and the reply we got from them is more than unsatisfactory they basically said there’s nothing they can do about it you will have to appeal to smart parking any one ever tried that . So if you fancy a meal and a side order of parking charges, this is the place to go..if you don’t realise that you now have to pay for parking..I appreciate it’s an oversight on her behalf, but absolutely disgusting behaviour from an establishment I have spent quite a lot of money in over the years but never again. Especially as you now have to pay them for the privilege to spend money on their premises ..

Had a lovely visit to The Three Shires last week and today we discover that it now has new owners! We have visited many times over the past 46 years (we honeymooned there!), and have never been disappointed. Last week the food was superb, and our stay was so comfortable and relaxing Thank you to James and Tony for the amazing times we’ve had, and to all the staff for their attentiveness and kindness We look forward to visiting again soon, and wish the new owners the best of luck in their new venture. Please don’t make too many changes, we love it the way it is!

Was anxious about staying here after reading the trip advisor reviews but I shouldn’t have been. The room was nice and spacious, clean, centrally located and had an en-suite. No issues checking in or with the parking. As with everything nothing is perfect. The location can be noisy but you have to factor in you’re staying on one of the main streets of a busy town centre so it’s expected. Personally I would stay here again as the noise really wasn’t that much of an issue, it wasn’t enough to wake two young children.

Stayed for 2 nights with 12 work colleagues and friends as we were walking in the Langdale valley. The location is stunning and the hotel is an ideal base for visiting the area. We ate in the hotel both nights ,the food is excellent quality and good value,recommend the steak pie. There is a good choice for breakfast both hot and cold options. The rooms are of a good standard and a special thank you for all the staff who could not be more helpful

The Bridge House
IIamisWhen studying the Lake District Raiders, I saw a lot of bridge houses mentioned in the travel notes, and learned about the interesting history of bridge houses. Of course, I want to see it. Take the Lake District bus to Ambrose and you can find the bridge houses. Recommended side view bridge house, there will be a whole building shape. The steps area is very small, you should be careful when going up.

This time I can visit National Art Pass for free, so I can't miss it. I changed the ticket at the ticket office, and knocked on the door a few times to the small white house (that is, Dove Cottage), and a staff member will lead the guided tour. The very pocket garden next to the white house, the sun is shining, I really want to go in and sit and read a book all day!
National Trust - Wray
崂崂山顽石Lei Castle (Wray Castle) is a Victorian neo-Gothic building on the west bank of Windermere Lake District. It is also the docking port of Windermere Lake cruise ships. The land includes part of the Windermere coastline, open year-round and is known for its selected specimen trees - Weilintong, mahogany, ginkgo, lime and various beech. We bought it because of freedom of the lake. Every pier to see. No disembark here. Shoot the exterior.
