Stayed here for an overnight stop coming back from Edinburgh. Staff were really helpful and friendly - in fact I would say some of the best staff I have encountered at a hotel. Rooms were clean and tidy with good amenities should you need them and also nice to have plentiful tea/coffee/water facilities in the room. Beds were comfy, everything was clean including towels etc. The water pressure wasn't the best in the shower, but it was ok - I'm being really picky to be fair. Breakfast was great value (booked when booking the room) with lots to choose, there was something for everyone, continental, cereals, cooked, tea's coffee, juices etc etc If I'm up that way again, I would definitely stay here again.

The staff were very friendly, room & beds were clean but a little sp**** & needing some renovation. The breakfast was lovely, plentiful & made to order, choice of cereal, toast, cooked breakfast, tea & coffee. The only downside was the boom booming of the music from the bar going on to the early hours.

This hotel is in great need of some tlc. Very tatty and in some parts repair is needed. It seemed clean enough and the staff were helpful but the place itself was not good value for money. On arrival to the twin room we'd booked, we found only one bed had a duvet on it. We were given another room which was a double and less suitable for us as it meant sharing a bed. There was a hell of a lot of noise from other guests, both above and in the room next to us, and the walls seemed very thin. So we didn't get much rest. The included breakfast was fair and cooked to order, although quite limited beyond the cooked part.

What a great hotel, the rooms are outstanding, beautifully finished and very clean. The restaurant bar area is amazing and all the staff are super friendly. There are plenty of hotels in Carlisle and most of them are below average, but this one is fantastic and if you have the budget you won’t be disappointed.

Self service check in, information given on the day and easy to follow. Car parking is round the corner as the guest house is on a busy main road but don't let that put you off. Permits from the guest house allow you to park easily. It's in a great location near to bars and restaurants recommend Michaelangelo's bar and restaurant. Great chicken risotto and chicken pasta dish. We had a room at the top of the house a really lovely room. Finished to a high standard. Comfortable bed with a good size TV. Free Wi-fi too. Breakfast was not available when we stayed although they do offer this. Would definitely stay again.

PPengguna TetamuThis is a very, very long review... I selected this hotel because I was travelling by train - the hotel is just outside the train station. I am also a Best Western rewards member - another reason to use this hotel. Unfortunately, for me my return train journey was cancelled due to a strike by train drivers employed by TransPennine Express. The strike was announced too late for me to cancel the trip and so I had to drive to Carlisle and that cause considerable extra costs. The hotel room I booked was a single and I was allocated room number 308 which was furthest from the lift and was not too good for me as I have a difficulty walking but I managed. The room was quite small but was adequate for my needs. Like many station hotels built to accommodate train journey travellers it was old an although I understood that the room was rather tired with frayed carpets, windows that could not be opened, no air comditioning (although there was a three speed fan in the wardrobe) and no USB ports. Wi-Fi was abysmal probably because I was as high and far away as possible from reception where I believe the router was located. All that said the room was fine for a one night stay and the toilet/shower was good. The bed was especially comfortable with nice fresh linen and two good size pillows. Now the down side. The hotel advertises that parking facilities are available at £12 per day. To access this one has to drive through the large station car park operated by NCP. This involved a convoluted process of taking a ticket at an entry barrier to the NCP car park then exiting said car park through another barrier and drive across a small lane and 'into' the hotel car park - which was tiny! It was full and included a number of large commercial vehicles. Once in the hotel car park there was no way out except by reversing back out the very tight exit and into the very narrow lane to take you back out to main forecourt of the railway station!! That meant that I had to re-enter the NCP car park and start over again. The NCP car park is large and as I could not park in the hotel park I had no alternative but to park there. The prices signposted - £12.50 per day. There are a few parking bays for Blue Badge holders such as myself and that was welcome as there is a little extra space to open the vehicle doors. The fun started the next day! Walking from the hotel and into the car park is not too far (although the road surface is quite broken up) and I was grateful for that especially as I hd forgotten my walking stick. When I tried to exit the NCP car park using the ticket I had been automatically issued by the machine at the entrance the exit machine accepted the ticket but would not accept any of my debit or credit cards. There was a button to call for assistance and eventually a lady explained that the parking fee was not payable at the exit machine and that I had to find another 'payment' machine. When I drove around the car park I could find not such 'parking fee payment

But what it lacked on it, it more than recovered on its location which is right in the city centre with just 2 min walk from station and excellent staff. The room’s thermostat was not working properly so when I raised this complaint to the reception they promptly provided me with another room heater. The polite and helpful staff enhanced the overall experience

Honest review of this budget hotel, the good points are that it’s cheap, the sheets and towels are clean, the shower works properly the bed is comfy (ish) and the breakfast for £8 isn’t bad either. So if you’re working locally or passing through then it serves a purpose for a night. The hotel car park is rammed with white vans in the evening which are all gone by 8am. It’s a definite favourite with contractors. The lady on reception was very welcoming and obviously hard working as she helped clean the bar at night too. Ok now the bad points, the place is dated, really tired looking as an example the signage to the front has been removed or has fell off and not been replaced so first impressions are shocking. The room was tired and dirty in places such as the carpet was badly stained and the TV remote was a bio hazard to be honest, the curtains were damaged, the nets had holes in them the wardrobe doors had been ripped off and there were no hangers. The furniture was dusty and the room door was damaged as if it been hit with something. The carpet was giving off a funny smell as was the shower curtain which was going brown, the anti slip bath mat was really grubby. The bar had no draft beer as the refrigeration system had broken down so the only beer they had was Carlsberg bottles or Coronas but no limes (due to health and safety) so Scottish Steve informed me on the bar 🤷🏼♂️ Only 30% of the bar food menu was available and many of the tables were dirty and cluttered until the reception lady came in to tidy up. To be fair when the chicken and chips came out it was very nicely cooked, pipping hot, well presented and good value at £8. So all in all, it’s very average, poorly maintained but cheap.
