My mate & I loved the B&B here - friendly owner who’s an ex-cyclist herself and adept at looking after Bay Cycle Way customers, comfortable rooms and a particularly good range of breakfast options. And she gave us a comprehensive rundown on all the restaurant and pub options for an evening meal too. It’s easy to see why this is an enduring favourite. Look out for the extraordinarily colourful display in the front garden too. Highly recommended.

MY wife and I stayed for three nights at the end of September, accompanied by my brother; we dined in the hotel restaurant for two of those nights. The staff were friendly, helpful and effective - except in one particular matter: I gave explicit instructions when I checked in that on no account should my brother be allowed to pay any part of my bill. Nevertheless he was able to persuade the person on duty when he checked out that he should be allowed to pay for my 'incidentals' - my drinks-bill and the like. How could this be allowed to happen? I was very irritated. We stayed in Room 220 - which was a fine-looking room, but with a number of oddities about the choice and arrangement of the furniture and facilities that made for inconvenience in living comfortably there. I say the same now as I said to the Manager on my departure: the hotel needs to put a couple into the room (preferably, members of staff) to live there for at least 24 hours, making detailed notes about what is lacking, what is inconvenient, and so on. It would be interesting to see what they say about having a shower, or about finding the light-switch in the middle of the night. Why is a large part of the bedroom occupied by one of those old-fashioned scroll bathtubs (with no soap holder or towel rail) when the space would be better occupied by a chest to store clothes in? Why is the bathroom fitted with two wash-basins, positioned next to and at right-angles to each other so that only one of them can be used at any one time? All managers should periodically stay in each of a hotel's bedrooms and experience what it is that their guests have to put up with. We enjoyed our stay, but would have enjoyed it more if attention had been given to The Guest Experience seen from the guest's point of view. (Parking was a bit of a nightmare too, but admittedly it was a very, very busy weekend for the hotel, which managed the flow of guests magnificently, especially at breakfast).

This was our 4th visit in 2 years. This hotel gives you that touch of Downton Abby while having a modern/stylish spa. Any business is only as good as the staff working there, Netherwood staff are amazing. From receptionist through to barman/waiting staff/housekeeping to ground staff. Everyone is polite, friendly, efficient and will do anything they can to help. Our room looked out over the gardens and onto the sea which was beautiful, very clean and really well lit which can be a problem for me in some older houses. The town is a short walk along promenade which you will find the best chocolate shop going called Chocolori. Definitely a must if you like anything chocolate related from cakes to cocktails. Booked afternoon tea here was very nice. Finger sandwiches, hot scones with jam and clotted cream and various cakes. Hot onion rings, sausage rolls slices, breaded brie and mozzarella sticks with a nice sweet chilli was very nice. Served with 2 glasses of decent fizz and a pot of tea was great only downside was the various cakes on top plate didn't taste like they were cooked fresh. Ordered 2 kids meals aswell and couldn't fault them for the price homemade chicken goujons and decent portion too. Would highly recommend

A bit far from Windermere town. Limited parking space. Luckily I arrived early and managed to get a parking lot Good full Cumbrian breakfast. Room and bed is ok except that the room heating needs improvement.
