Health and safety hazard. Very dirty with thick dust on top of velvet headboard…Urgh. Stayed for two nights. Both curtains hanging down on one side. Started to position curtain around the window to stop the light coming in and pricked my thumb harshly on one of the several large heavy duty staples sticking through the curtain fabric presumably where the pleat should have been. In the morning I noticed a small tear in my pillowcase. When I turned the pillow over there was a rip in fabric almost the whole width of the dirty pillow. I had a quiet word with the morning receptionist on our way out for the day who said she would inform management (I did not want to embarrass her in front of other guests)…although this was the same lady on reception when we arrived the previous day and who I took to be the owner/manager! On our return, whilst the bed had been made up and the pillowcase changed, the staples were still sticking through the fabric which is when I noticed the heavy dust on top of the headboard. On the second night the room was very noisy as if a fan was running all night (yes, I did turn the bathroom light off) and for the second night I hardly got any sleep! Very, very disappointed that firstly this room (41) was in such a poor state for the amount of money paid per night and secondly that my concerns seemed to have been almost totally disregarded. When checking out of the hotel, despite a lady in the office behind reception, nobody came to the front so I just left the key on the desk. I have taken numerous photos which show the disgusting state of the room in general if management care to see. This is a 3 star hotel which I am afraid would be hard pushed in reality to hold onto a 1 star and I hope the AA review their star system in the future before the whole system becomes meaningless!

I have wanted to stay at this hotel for many years, ever since I went to university in Cheltenham (I am now 42!) The hotel, from the outside, is absolutely stunning. The communal areas including reception, bar and restaurant are kept well and decorated nicely. The staff were knowledgeable, polite and friendly. Food and service in the restaurant was very good. The spa is small but clean and tidy. We didnt have any treatments so can't comment on those. Lockers are free and the ability to offer limited alcoholic drinks while you relax is a nice touch. Parking was free and there was plenty. The gardens were generally well kept except for a bulk bag of garden waste dumped at the end between the spa and garden (not a great first impression after parking at the rear) The room.... on first glance it was quirky but nice. The longer you spend in there the more you notice that it was in need of refurbishment. The bath in the room was a nice touch but the laminate around the bath is falling apart and where the carpet meets it was frayed and untidy. I don't understand why it wasn't tiled to prevent exactly this?? Panels were hanging off the bath surround, there were large chips out of furniture. There was damp around the ceiling and where paint touch ups had been made it was smudged and untidy. The mattress was the strangest contraption I've ever seen but it was a comfy novelty. The sink really needs to be in with the toilet. I know the toilet is small but a small sink could be fitted. Small detail, but for women, having a sink near the toilet before coming out into the room is preferable (if you know, you know) The room and bedding were clean and tidy. All in all the decor and furniture in our room and the room corridors were dated and shabby. We got a deal via a third party website and enjoyed our stay. For the price we paid, it was a lovely break away. Would I pay full price to return, I'm afraid not.

Every person I interacted with at the Volunteer Inn was really friendly - from the young woman behind the bar who greeted me and checked me in, to the chaps in the Indian restaurant (no cooking smells in the bedrooms, as restaurant quite separate, just in case you're worried abou that!), to the lady who cooked my delicious breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was really good - real coffee, wonderfully fresh eggs and great sausages and bacon. Lots of choice for vegetarians and those just wanting cereal too. I hadn't stayed in a b&b with a shared bathroom for years, so had been a bit worried about that aspect, but it was totally fine, as the bathroom was accessed by a key and it was only shared with one other room. I felt safe and comfortable, so that was not an issue. Although I'm originally from Cheltenham, I had not been to Chipping Campden for decades - WOW! It's one of the most unspoiled Costwold towns I've seen, with the most thatched houses in one place I think I've ever seen! The villagers I spoke with were so very helpful and friendly (was on a quest for new tights for my evening biz meeting!) Looks like the town is directly on the Cotswold Way too, so I shall return with my daughter and have a good old yomp! Recommend very highly - the bedroom was simple, but clean and very comfy (the only reason I marked down to a 4 on cleanliness was because my little waste bin had not been emptied from the previous stay....feel a bit mean doing that but, well, it is important...) I can't wait to go back!

房間乾淨整潔，服務也算不錯，洗手間排風扇不工作了，通風受阻，parking方便，酒店前面就是酒吧，有桌球桌可以打上幾句！出門往左右幾十米就是下面圖片的泉眼及教堂。
