We had a good stay here using the 3 nights for 2 August offer. We have eaten here many times in the past for family occasions but have never stayed here. The rooms are somewhat dated and they could do with some nice smelling candles in the corridors as there was a bit of a stale food smell. Our original deluxe room had a small double bed and overlooked the car park but had a large balcony and separate shower. We were upgraded to a junior suite which had a small seating area. If you stay at the hotel overlooking the car park then you can hear cars arriving and the laundry collection was quite early. I imagine that rooms at the side of the hotel have a better view and are quieter. Staff were helpful. Systems are a bit paper based and so slow to check out. We ate off the club menu which is available until around 9pm and had a good choice of food. Breakfast was not included and was £24 for continental so we bought our own breakfast from outside. There are lots of nice restaurants in Richmond and the hotel is well located for Petersham Nurseries, Kew Gardens and a walk along the river. It is quite far from central London during busy times.

My husband and I came here for a two-day break the day after our wedding in early September 2024. We took a taxi from central London but if on public transport the hotel is c. 20 minutes walk from Richmond tube station, just outside the park. It is a building full of character, both due to the decor, and the fact that it seems to be several different structures knocked together. Our room was very comfortable, with a large bed, massive bathroom with excellent shower, a complementary gin (although this was only explained to us on our last day so we missed it!) The main attraction is the spa, which includes a lovely pool (c. 20 m), a jacuzi, steam room, wet room, hot tubs, and cold plunge. You can also get treatments but we didn't try that. Richmond is an easy walk along a terrace with stunning views over the Thames, and there are numerous attractive walks to do in the various parks and along the river. There are restaurants aplenty in Richmond, but we ate in the hotel both nights. The food was very good, but the restaurant felt slightly lacking in atmosphere unfortunately, particularly on the first night (a Saturday) when it was virtually empty except for us.

We stayed at this hotel as it was superbly located for a wedding at the Wetlands Centre. The road adjacent is pretty long with potential for spaces, however be aware that it can be busy. We luckily found the last space available. The only restrictions here are permits for 10-12 on weekdays, which you can obtain from the pub if needed. We had to attend a wedding before official check-in, but they allowed us to pick up the key early as we didn't need access to the room. When we returned later that evening, we found the that room was lovely. Well decorated and comfortable. Some may think the room is small (we were in room 3), but for a short trip to London, it was more than adequate. The soundproofing from the pub below is excellent, outside not so much. However it wasn't that noisy at night. The bed was comfy and everything was clean. The shower was great, this is always an important thing for me! There is a coffee pod machine and kettle, and breakfast is a small selection of cereal. There is also a fridge in the hallway which contains blueberry muffins, milk and yoghurt, which I thought was cute! It was enough to get us going for the day. Icing on the cake was when I realised I left my charger in the room. I called up and they made no fuss and sent it back to me without charge, even though I offered. I really hope we get the chance to stay here again some day!

Lovely small hotel. Rooms equipped with everything needed and spotlessly clean. Enjoyed some delicious bar food late afternoon before going for evening. Staff extremely friendly. I enjoyed a delicious continental breakfast (included in room charge whilst my husband enjoyed a full English (extra). My only suggestion is some heating in the conservatory used for breakfast, was a tad chilly in there!

The Selwyn Hotel was lovely and definitely worth visiting. The building is beautiful and the staff were very responsive. The breakfast was amazing and is definitely worth the extra charge. A big surprise was that the hotel was within walking distance to the Thames and an area with many wonderful shops and restaurants. What a treat! I would give it a solid five stars, except that the room advertised a view of Kew, which does not mean Kew Gardens! Maybe you know this if you are from London, but as a non-native, I had no idea. My view was of a corner brick wall, which was disappointing. Be very specific when reserving about what your view looks like. In addition, the building can be noisy with outside traffic and from other guests. Overall, it was a lovely stay.

First, the positives - lovely comfortable bed, good quality bedding, and the blackout curtains, ensured a good night’s sleep. The location was convenient for us. The kettle, tea and coffee and biscuits were appreciated. However, there were a lot of negatives, notwithstanding the relative cheapness of a sub £100 price per night. The fixtures and fittings were in an awful state, falling to bits and rusting. Starting with the wardrobe, it was shoogly, and the door didn’t close properly. The toilet seat was extremely loose, making it very difficult to use. The shower head attachment came off, and the shower head (lower one) couldn’t be tilted. The basin tap handle was almost off, making it difficult to turn on/off and change temperature. The key to the outside door was difficult to use until you got the knack of it. There were things missing which should be there, regardless of price imo including bedside lamps, or at least one, so we didn’t have to get out of bed to switch the light off after reading. Also, a bath mat for when you get out of the shower would have been appreciated.

The staff are very helpful, if you need anything or want information about the area they are knowledgeable and happy to help. We’ve stayed in the Jane Seymour suite and this time in the Catherine Parr Out of the two we liked the Jane Seymour the best but both are perfect. The hotel is in a wonderful position for Kingston shops, just over the bridge, or hop on the 411 bus to Hampton Court. We have family locally so it’s perfect for us to get around. Breakfast is great, plenty to choose from. Chris our server and on reception was very polite, he even laughed at my Brown Toast or White Toast joke… all toast is Brown it’s the bread that’s white! When we left he said thank you for staying with us again and shook my hand… Well done Chris it’s the little things that make all the difference.

PPengguna TetamuGreat hotel which is built into Twickenham Rugby stadium. Clean and comfortable with friendly and helpful staff. I stayed there when there was a game on that I attended with more than 76000 others. The hotel was very busy but they dealt with it well. I will certainly stay again, as I have done in the past.

well after reading the review we were quite excited about staying here. we were greeted by a nice friendly face when we arrived. The room was lovely, and the toiletries were amazing. my sister even went on line and bought some. we went for a rest and to freshen up, then met our family down in the bar. it's a lovely space, although the light features could do with a cobweb and a dusting. the barmen (didn't see any females) were quite miserable really, we had a faint smile from one. next morning a full English, looked very nice, but luke warm. my sister asked for a hot breakfast, it came back hot. they had cooked some more eggs for her, but the yolks were broken, which had leaked over some of the other items on her plate, and not their fault she doesn't like egg yolk. a breakfast should not have broken fried eggs on the plate, that's just bad manners! she felt she couldn't complain again, like i said, they weren't very happy. the family came the next night to dine, everything was fine. except, the batter was overcooked, one of the fish was dry, glad I had mine lightly battered. not only that, but there was more tartar sauce than mushy peas. a nice touch was curry sauce, but there was only a fork full of mushy peas, and they were nice. I have never been anywhere, where there was more sauce than veg. the morning we left, the lady on reception was nice and friendly, as was the young lady serving breakfast. would have been a far nicer stay, if there was bit of warmth in the air, and i don't mean the heating. we did have to ask that the heating was turned down in our room at night we are northerners after all.

走路去漢普頓宮半小時多一點(穿過Bushy Park)，回來坐R68巴士看藝中心館，逛一下泰晤士河畔，喝一杯啤酒又散步回來。小區很多咖啡店及餐廳，可以在酒店花園餐廳吃午餐，也去了Bar Estilo吃Tapas，The Adelaide飲Pimms，挺悠閒的過了三天。推薦给去完倫敦遊玩，回家前想休閒地感受生活的朋友。

Ttmhead13The hotel is more like a bed and breakfast, but there’s nothing wrong with that as long as it’s advertised as such. A warning for less able clients - all the rooms are on the 1st / 2nd / 3rd floor and there isn’t a lift. If you can’t use stairs or lift a suitcase, here isn’t for you.
The en-suite in our room wasn’t the cleanest. When we arrived, the bin hadn’t been replaced. There was also a really strong smell of urine every time we entered the room - even after housekeeping had been. The drain for the shower was very slow, so every time we showered, the tray filled with water.
All that said, the service was lovely. The staff were helpful - especially the staff member who works the breakfast service. There was also another staff member on our last day who gave us travel information because there were no trains from Kew that day.

PPengguna TetamuIt’s a shame there isn’t a grouping for not quite average but not quite poor. I stayed here for a one night stopover whilst working in the area. Nice old pub, but I was a little disappointed to see three hand pumps for ale, none of which were available. Just your routine cold fizzy lagers from around the world. I had an evening meal from and extremely limited menu which was at best, average. The room I had was comfortable enough, but the mattress was starting to feel a little threadbare. No ensuite, so a shared bathroom and separate WC which didn’t give me a problem, but might not be for everyone. This is a lovely old building, but it comes with the things you would associate with lovely old buildings. Creaky floorboards and a few draughts here and there. Again, nothing unexpected in a building of this age, but it was a case of once someone started moving in their rooms, the creaky floorboard sounds made it both difficult to get to sleep and meant an early undesired wake up call. You get what you pay for, and my stay wasn’t completely unpleasant, but would I stay here again? Possibly, but I would consider alternatives first.

PPengguna TetamuIt was clear that they were understaffed. We had to wait an extra 30 minutes to check into our room because it was not ready. Food was not served quickly - we had to ask waiters to get us drinks (they initially told us to order our own drinks at the bar). Other couples were given tables ahead of us even though we were waiting in line first. Overall poor service for the whole weekend. The amenities are great - good food, leisure facilities and spa.

Very impressed by the service I received. Cosy room. He allowed us to keep our bags there which made our Sunday a lot more enjoyable. I would recommend for a short stay. Location is convenient and not too far from town.......................
