If you want to stay inside old city, then this is one of good option which gives you a good view of stepwell. The hotel has been renovated recently and it seemed some work was on going, also the management has changed, so some older reviews may not be applicable as off Dec 2023. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Some travellers may miss TV in the room and an elevator to go up but I was ok with those two not being present. Morning breakfast was served at Stepwell Cafe which is mix of cold breakfast selection (mainly juices and cereal)and hot dishes made to order (eggs, paratha etc) - food was great and the cafe is something to enjoy all day long with a view of stepwell and Mehrangarh fort. Fort is visible only from cafe’s top level sitting. Special mention to manager Aijaj Khan for spectacular customer service.

Our visit to the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur was nothing short of a royal experience. The palace, one of the top hotels and the residence of the former king of Jodhpur, truly lives up to its grand reputation. From the moment we arrived, Taj exceeded our expectations—starting with a warm welcome, complete with rose petals being showered on us, setting the tone for our stay. The rooms were luxurious, offering breathtaking views, and the food was exquisite, with the mutton biryani being a standout. The hospitality was unmatched, making our anniversary celebration unforgettable. A special mention to Swaroop Singh Rajveer, Tribhuwan, Bhupendra, Nishu, Malvika, and Deepanshi, who made our anniversary incredibly special. They went above and beyond, arranging for a traditional safa for me, tied by the same person who tied it for Nick Jonas. They also organized a ring for my proposal, a chunni for my wife, a delicious cake, and even a sword to cut the cake—can you imagine that? The team made me propose in the open grounds, adding a magical touch to the entire experience. I also want to give a big shout-out to Chetan in security, who not only ensured our safety but also proved to be the best at photography and hospitality. We enjoyed fantastic drinks at the bar and a culinary journey with unlimited flavors. Everything about Umaid Bhawan Palace is perfect, which is why it rightfully earns its name. This place truly exemplifies royal living at its finest.

I can explain the Bal Sa***d Lake Palace in three words: refreshing, delicious, groovy! This property is a hidden gem in the city of Jodhpur and even if you don’t stay at the hotel, it’s rich splendour will enchant you to the core. Make sure that you have a bite at the Kebab Konner: their kebabs are meaty delights! This property also provides a horse riding facility and, believe me if you have the imagination, seeing my son and wife riding majestic Marwari horses was a sight to behold and certainly a treat to feast upon. Now listen carefully: if you do avail this facility, ask the groom to firstly take you to the stables, then the pleasure gardens and, if you have time, the amazing Peacock Fountain. Note to self: Try to get either Sultan or Samrat for riding. Alright, there are 26 garden view rooms, and our room no. 33 took us to another world and will made us feel that we have been a part of the Marawaris for generations. Beautiful restored historic Haveli of 450 years in the same family for countless generations managed by very helpful staff who also provided a fantastic in-house guide Avi for this experience. The family owns three Haveli’s close to one another and takes enormous pride in preserving culture and customers satisfaction. The Haveli has an in-house top floor restaurant serving excellent breakfast, lunch and evening meal options. The views to the Fort are breathtaking and we felt very comfortable. Bathrooms, bedding and the entire establishment is super clean. We cannot recommend more highly and would return again without hesitation. Location is also well suited to exploration by foot or a quick tuk tuk to the Clock Tower Market and surrounding city.
